  1. Namgoong Min Reveals The Hardest Part Of Playing His Character In New Drama “The Veil” Sep 5, 2021 by E. Cha Namgoong Min has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “The Veil”! “The Veil” is a new MBC blockbuster action drama starring Namgoong Min as Han Ji Hyuk, an elite field agent who is a legend at the NIS (National Intelligence Service). Due to his perfect record and skill at completing missions, Han Ji Hyuk is a top agent who is held in high esteem by his colleagues. However, just when he seemed to have finally succeeded in driving an organized crime syndicate into a corner, Han Ji Hyuk suddenly vanishes off the face of the earth. After losing his memories and going missing for a year, he makes a bold return to the organization to find the traitor responsible for his downfall. Explaining why he had decided to star in the drama, Namgoong Min recalled, “Just when I was thinking, ‘I wish there were a drama that could really resonate with viewers in a heavy way,’ I happened to come across ‘The Veil.’ I was captivated by the rough, unvarnished, and heavy vibe that was unique to ‘The Veil.'” Namgoong Min also opened up about the hardest part of his role. “Han Ji Hyuk is an agent who returns to the NIS after losing his memories,” he said, “and because he needs to find the traitor through his lost memories, he’s a character who is nervous and on edge because he can’t easily trust anyone. It wasn’t easy to portray that sharp sensitivity and maintain those emotions throughout [filming].” When asked how similar his character was to his real-life personality, Namgoong Min replied, “Honestly, I don’t think we really have anything in common. If I had to go out of my way to find a similarity, it would be the way we both chase after our goals without giving up. Han Ji Hyuk puts everything on the line in order to find the traitor within his agency and races towards that goal, while Namgoong Min puts everything on the line in order to lose himself in the character of Han Ji Hyuk and portray him properly as an actor. I feel like we might be similar in that respect.” “The Veil” premieres on September 17 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on Viki. Source
  2. Surprisingly, I've enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Love reading the perspective from this writer, who also wrote some insightful and interesting reviews for The Devil Judge. Childhood Connections, Gods, And Demons: First Impressions Of “Lovers Of The Red Sky” Sep 5, 2021 by shalini Kim Yoo Jung is back! “Lovers of the Red Sky” has been teased since December of last year, and SBS’s newest sageuk fantasy is finally on our screens. The first two episodes pack in fated lovers, bloodshed, gods, demons, and the reoccurring theme of sight and sightlessness. But is it worth the hype? Here are our thoughts on the premiere! Warning: spoilers for episodes 1-2 below Loved: The lore Loved: The tight childhood storyline Loved: The hints at what is to come Hated: some of the CG We still don’t know all that much about the characters. Despite the drama’s Korean title being “Hong Chun Gi,” it feels like we’ve spent a lot more time with Ha Ram. Hopefully the show’s focus shifts to her soon! Playboy prince Yangmyung (Gong Myung) makes a brief appearance, but there’s much to learn of his character. Kwak Si Yang is back as a villain for what feels like the umpteenth time, but he does do it well! Here’s to next week establishing character relationships solidly and getting us into the political and fantastical battles between devil and human, prince and king, and greed and perseverance! Source
  3. When I saw that urology sign, it reminded me of that drama with the title “You Raise Me Up” 😂. But there was another specialty on that nameplate though - Psychiatrist. And when Hye Jin asked him why he didn’t keep the hedgehog, he said he didn’t keep “live things”... I too think that he is highly likely to have been successful before his return to the village 5 years ago. Maybe someone in Hye Jin’s group of friends will recognise him from the photo. So Dusik didn’t keep the other shoe from ep1. He fished it up during ep3 😂 and secretly placed it in Hye Jin’s shoe cabinet. She was so happy and the whole house lit up when she wore it. It’s so corny and just short of a Alice in Wonderland skip and tap 😂 Will let the rest rave about the rest of the episode haha.
  4. I no need no one else when I have this:
  5. I think AZ’s reputation was affected by the hooha in Europe over the blood clots. Bad news spreads really fast and scares people but in actual fact, all vaccines are going to affect some people badly. And the numbers are quite low relatively. The conclusion is it is better to take AZ then none at all. The contamination in Japan is apparently from packaging.
  6. 80% are vaccinated. I think we are one of the very first countries to order vaccines. Apparently a committee had been set up very early on to review and analyse the companies developing vaccines, their technology/methods etc. Before phase 3 trials, Singapore had already ordered from a few different companies to hedge its bets. We ordered Moderna in Jun 2020 and Sinovac and Pfizer in Aug 2020. Since we are quite kiasu, seems we have continued to buy in case of unexpected disruptions so there is more than enough. This article describes the process: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/how-singapore-picked-its-covid-19-vaccines It is concerning that the numbers are relatively high each day (about 100+ cases). Especially as I think of my parents who were vaccinated earlier and thus their effectiveness could be waning - I keep telling them not to go market so often! But so far, most cases are asymptomatic or do not have serious effects. The hospitals are operating like usual and not overloaded - this is the guideline the government is using to decide on whether to lockdown or open the economy. So let's see how it goes. Personally, I won't travel this year even if it is allowed. The situation is not stable. What if I am overseas and suddenly something happens and I cannot come back?
  7. Sep 3, 2021 Today is the third anniversary of "The Negotiation" movie Showcase. September 2018 must have been a glorious month for these two. Even for me, a person who knew nothing about k-ent in Apr 2020, I was caught up in the romance that was brewing and so obvious in the moments captured forever ❤❤❤ Page 15 of this thread is dedicated to this movie's promotion period. [But give me some time to collate and upload - there's simply too much goodies! 😍] ctto
  8. Original post credit to @mocca_39 Translated by @yejinxhyunbin Since last time, in order for the cafe in front to be suddenly used as a drama set It’s gonna be reconstructed to a chinese restaurant. Last time they came and gave the drama souvenirs and said please take care of us well (more like a offering bcoz they prob will be a nuisance). Finally the shooting will start today~ The drama is Thirty Nine and Son Yejin is the lead~ The set in the picture is going to be used as a hideout* for the main character *more like a place where they will hang out often.
  9. You know that statement parents always tell their kids - "Go and do your homework. Don't watch so much TV" - you can never say that hahahaha I'm also having some withdrawal symptoms from not travelling. Already done 4 staycations in the first half of this year, just lazing by the pool. SG doesn't restrict travelling per se. They just discourage non-essential travel. We can travel, but we must serve 14/21 days quarantine in a hotel when we return and this costs $2-3K. So no one travels as a result. But now things are opening up. We have an agreement with Germany and Brunei where we don't need to quarantine so Singapore Airlines is selling air tickets now lol. And recently a friend said she is travelling to Canada because they don't require Singaporeans to quarantine, and on return to Singapore, she just needs to stay at home for 7 days so it is doable. Aww, we're envious of you being able to go anywhere! Enjoy your holiday. Where are you going?
  10. Is this real? I just may watch it for the title alone
  11. Hahaha. I was just coming in to post this. But I guess it is not long enough for @SilverMoonTea.
  12. I thought this too. But he of all people should know it doesn't solve anything. So I like to believe he is not deserting. If there is S2, guess we'll find out. *** He did a really good job. His story was painful. Translation: Actor Cho Hyun-chul's face with hand over mouth gives a million question marks as you go through the filmography. It's not a method, it's like I'm born again every time I film.
  13. We're not the first to do this too. Israel and Palestine were going to do it a few months back too, except that Israel's stock had only 2 weeks to expiry so it was rejected. It is a good strategy and would be wasteful for the vaccines to expire when so many need it. Haha I frequently use expired medicine too. The thinking is there should be a buffer from the expiry date as most companies won't cut the line so fine to protect their own legal liabilities.
  14. Haha, nooooo, Australia and Singapore are friends. We won't do that to you. I think the vaccines have a shelf life of about 6 months. Since SG has more than enough for now, we are passing some to Australia who doesn't have enough. But these are not expired yet. In turn, when Australia's shipment comes in later, you will pass those back to SG. It's win-win.
  15. Official Trailer A Netflix Series Squid Game Survive or die Who will live to see 45.6 billion won? Squid Game | Coming September 17, only on Netflix
  16. I think those where the agencies take legal action (to the end, not just to scare the complainers) means that it is likely not true. Oooh, thanks for the recommendation. Saving this. Actually if you look at the photo where the girl was walking to the car, she was on the driver side. If she was the gf, she should be walking on the opposite side to take the front seat? So maybe for that particular photo, there were other people. But doesn't mean the rumour is not true hahahaha. It means you are watching too much TV. Bad girl! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I was shocked too when I first saw it! Except that it was because of Shin Ha Kyun, whom I just watched in the highly acclaimed Beyond Evil and who won Best Actor! Congrats! He's left for rallying and came back to do really well at Lotus. I think this will be a final retirement. It's time too. Although he is driving for pleasure, it's sad too when they are no longer in competitive cars. You are in good hands. But of course we don't know if there will be some side effects in like 20 years lol.
  17. @mademoiselle Regarding the ending, it showed Joon Ho walking away in another direction from the other soldiers. Any idea what it means?

  20. Seems quite real and is worse. Apparently the webtoon was written in 2015, but the date used in this drama is 2014. I read somewhere that the korean government has taken action since then and there is less bullying now.
  21. Aug 31, 2021 Sorry hometown cha-cha-cha, borrow your scene! Although I think we need one like this!
