  1. :Party01: Final round of my Dream Taebin Photoshoot: Part 7 :Party01:

You're all free to save and use these edits. If possible to credit, please credit: These Dramatic Days (which is the name of all the things I do relating to my dramas - Youtube subbing, podcast, blog etc etc).

You can see the matching  photos (Part 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 5 & 6) on pg. 8 and 9 of this forum. Thanks for joining me for this game of matchy matchy since we never got a Taebin photoshoot. Hope this content has been somewhat comforting!

Also don't you think these 2 would look good in a modern history period drama? :BulbaOWO:

Started watching. SJ is called underdog of the school. He works in part time jobs, as a delivery man, a cashier in a supermarket and he does the homework of other students. His father is a cartoonist and his sister works in a hair salon. One day, his poor friend JS commits mass suicide. SJ is sad. He meets an old woman who sells him a golden spoon, she tells him he has to eat three meals at a rich student's house and he will be able to swap parents with him.....

SJ eats the first meal, he helps the rich boy in reports requested by his father. He has a higher grades than one of the rich students whom he helped do the homework, he is threatened by him to let go of his rank.

The rich guy invites SJ for the second meal, but his father threatens the rich son to send him to the states (there is a flashback of him being threatened by a gun), seems that the states holds a bad memory, he agrees to arrange for SJ's getting kicked out by accusing him of extorting money from him. SJ throws away the spoon in the trash. SJ fights with the rich guy near the river where SJ records the rich boy's confession of lying about the accusation. SJ fells in the water, the rich boy leaves him,  he doesn't try to save himself but he sees the golden spoon and strives to get out of the river. He succeeds, and looks for the spoon, when he finds it, he begs the rich father to give him a meal (the third one).

Oooh sounds interesting. I was thinking of giving it a go before since I figured I should try a drama that I wasn't expecting since this year has been kind of weird and I've been looking forward to a lot of dramas that are duds, whereas the dramas I picked up last minute, I loved. I also like the female lead. But no gurantees that I'll definitely watch since I'm only just catching up with the 2 dramas that I'm live watching

yes, it's good that moc got him a lot of magazines pictorials, cf's, promo after eaw to build up his fanbase in such a short period of time! and i would say, even though ena and astory didnt give us much bts about taebin couple due to sensitive subject of the drama, they did serve him well and promote him through the more serious (instead of fun) bts about his acting skills and his professionalism - his constant discussion with PEB and pd Yoo, his internet research at filming site... so now viewers and production companies know he is a good actor not only with amazing acting skills but also with good work ethics! he said he got some good offers after eaw and am sure he'll get some when he is back! he just really needs to discern a good project!

think his previous one focused more on SKJ so the others 4 always did supporting roles! to me KTO has the best acting skill among surprise, and it was a disappointment that his agecny couldnt land him major roles after winning kbs award. not a big fan of SKJ as personally find his acting quite bland!  i hope that will not be the case when he returns. thats why i think GM is smart to go to saram; it's not healthy for them to compete similar roles or projects!

I totally agree. I think that he was really able to boost his career so much in just a short period of time! And he worked really really hard after the drama finished as well when not all actors would have done what he did before the army. I also agree with what you said about ENA and ASTORY - I think they really painted both actors in such a great professional light by showing how hard they worked in preparing for their roles. I do feel a few other factors come into play with behind the scenes like how tired they were when filming etc, but I also think that there was still little nice moments in the behind the scenes as well like PEB stroking KTO's hand which were still shown.

Totally glad that he was getting offers for dramas and I hope that will continue when he gets back, especially if EAW season 2 doesn't actually happen. It's true about SKJ as well - I mean SKJ had 4 million subscribers on Instagram before, so you can see how big the difference was between him and his group mates. I don't mind him as an actor, but I much prefer Kang Tae Oh because he's much more expressive on screen and personable off screen. I don't personally relate so much to SKJ. :idk:

OMG you found the video! I did see some of those links come up on too. @Kismet_06200904 might want to see this if they haven't found it yet already,

I was actually halfway on hardsubbing it myself (since I like to know exactly what all the captions are saying and I like my subs to look pretty), but it was taking a long time coz I'm not fluent in Korean. And I was only going to do the scenes with KTO and PEB.This is an example of my type of subbing

    EBQwyZQ.png

But I think I might still continue and release it because I think they might have pieced the footage together and missed some parts or just move the footage around. In any case I always like to have my own copy online coz I never know when people will take down their videos! Anyway I'll share here once I've finished as well!

oh, that's so weird! Maybe my usual image server has an issue

    I'll type out the phrase:

If you can't log onto Discord at all, it should give you a password reset option. However, rather than going through the link provided here, you probably want to download the Discord app to your phone/device, and try to log onto Discord directly to take advantage of the forgotten password option.

Or if you are working from a pc or laptop, go to discord.com and try to log in that way, and it will give you a forgotten password option.

    Hope this helps.

This is very helpful! I'll give both those things a go! Thanks a lot for the tech troubleshooting :BulbaOWO::hearties:

I'm currently watching it but I'm not 100% invested. I'm halfway through episode 5, I think? I keep telling @SilverMoonTea that the 2ML needs to not talk if he's just going to be rude to the ML. Haha! In the 2ML's last drama, he played a character that didn't talk much (sometimes he didn't talk at all). I need him to go back to that.

I love how unimpressed you are with the second lead of this drama

Awww, but the 2nd ML is trying to work his way through his first and unrequited love. Plus, I think he's going to be a good enough friend to JYoung that he'll give in gracefully when the OTP finally decides they want to be together.

I agree. On the grand scale of annoying second male leads, he's annoying but not the worst kind. I think he'll back down because he really respects the female lead's wishes and doesn't want them to be awkward

On a different topic, Tea mentioned I should ask you about Discord! Long ago when I first joined JH I could go onto the discord, but after awhile I forgot how and when I try to log on again here it says I already have an account but can't enter :( Is there some way to possibly reset it? Thanks in advance :yayaya:

Oh and one more thing, sorry to ask, but I've tried a few translation apps and searching the words in the dictionary, but do you know what this entire text means...I keep getting flashlight and something about comfort?  I need to enroll back in Korean school again!

I'm not sure if the FL is flirting with the vet after finding out he has a gf. I think she just really wants him to remember their childhood friendship, and even though she's nominally given up hoping he'll remember, she still can't seem to bring herself to not invade his personal space in a reflection of how close they had been at one point in their lives. Anyway, that's the way I took it.

I agree. I don't think she was trying to pick him up though she thought he had a gf - I think her personality is just generally playful and warm, so sometimes people interpret that as flirting, when it's really just being a people person :heiboi:

Joy's real name is Park Soo Young and the ML's name is Chu Young Woo, so they both have the character for "young" in their names, and "young won" means forever. So, yes, it's a play on the actors' real names.

The preview was disappointing if it's not trolling since it seems that JYoung is going to decide to date 2nd ML out of her disappointment with seeing the ML and his ex-gf?

I feel like it's a troll - it's too light hearted a drama to be so angsty and nonsensical. But I have been burnt before *ough DDSSLLS cough*, so I think I should not speculate

    15 hours ago, SilverMoonTea said:

I think JYoung have low self esteem, as she felt inferior compare to those from Seoul. He's very clearly declaring he's a free man. What else to look for? She need to claim that spot. But I also can understand her competitor that is so agressive like Min, she bound to overthink everything. Afterall she only know JiYul in a short time. But I like how JiYul also become very assertive with JaeYoung and try to push to narrow the boundary further.

This is a very good point! I think that JY would have low self esteem. Not just about being a country girl (though that seems true as well)  but also because this girl has history with Ji Yul ad also they have a similar career and ambitious side and people keep saying she's pretty and treating her like Ji Yul's gf due to his mistake of saying that in the past. :letalQQ:

  7. Episodes 1-9

This drama has been my happy place for the last couple of weeks since I picked it up - Thanks so much to @abs-oluteM and @stroppyse for recommending it and giving me a little shove to start! I don't know why it didn't appeal to me immediately when I saw the trailer, but I really enjoyed it from the first episode which is pretty rare for me since it usually takes awhile to settle. But I guess short dramas are usually good since they get into the action immediately!

From episode 1, I've found Ji Yul to be a good balance of standoffish city person to warm guy with a heart. Sometimes I don't like these characters *cough Hometown Cha Cha Cha cough*. But in his case, I thought he was quite relatable - He was still polite and helpful, but he showed those boundaries and walls that city folks tend to put up when in uncomfortable situations with lots of people who like to be very close to you. Also I think he warmed up quite quickly thanks to a certain pretty police officer :smug: Before this series, I'd never watched Joy act, so I don't know about her past acting skills, but I've really liked her character here. She does that warm-hearted and super friendly vibe well in this series. Ja Young has definitely had an obvious crush on Ji Yul since the moment he stepped foot in the village because she's always been so up in his business and she comes on strong with her playfulness

Their chemistry is really cute and awkward which feels quite realistic for childhood friends who haven't met in a long time. I don't always like the childhood/first love trope when it's sooo cliche, but this one feels rather natural and more belivable than many others I've seen. And I really liked how romantic tension is so thick you could slice it with a knife by Episode 9 when they're in that peach wine storage shed...I feel like the romance is probably the best in dramas when it's this point where both of them should just say their feelings but they can't so they just depserately hint at it   BUT I am upset that the ex has come into the picture to stir things up. Technically, she's not a bad person and she's not being mean (though she's very strong willed and stubborn and not-reading-the-room)...but I don't like that she face planted on the male lead in front of Ja Young! And before Ja Young as well! :lettalKWA:

@SilverMoonTea as soon as I saw ex-girlfriend: Hey it's Pomme from Today's Webtoon)

    GSZdMOH.gif

I have a weakness for warm village/ community stories, especially if the characters are the right balance of friendly and nosy :lol:This one seems to tick all those boxes. You laugh at all the ahjummas who have fights with each other, and they can be teasing and nosy, but they're well meaning enough and keep the pacing going. I also really like the vet-related stories like when they save the dog in the first episode and when he has to put the bull down for the old man who treats it like a family member....it's all just so wholesome and makes me want to move to the countryside (though I totally would not survive! )

I have watched 3.5 episodes and had to come here and rant. I feel stressed watching these 3 sisters.  Of course I empathise that they each have their own demons to fight and a heavy emotional baggage they have to carry , no thanks in part to their parents who have abandoned them in some way. But they are all very naive in their own way  and  I am frustrated at the choices they each make.

Ahhh, so glad we have the same opinions about the sisters. I also find it hard to watch because the characters are such extremes and I feel like I would never act this way even if I was really desperate for money. But I suppose the point of the show is also the emotional baggage

On 9/18/2022 at 2:43 PM, mademoiselle said:

The newest episode is quite thrilling (hmm, I think this is the right word). I like that this episode showed the truth behind the pretense of Park Jae Sang and Won Sang Ah. Not that I don't already know they were faking it but I wanted In Hye to know. I still don't know what In Hye thinks but I hope this open up her eyes. The consolation I took away from this facade is that Hyo Rin is genuinely nice to In Hye. She wasn't "using" In Hye for her talent, or treating In Hye like she's her shadow like what Won Sang Ah is treating In Joo. Like In Joo, I was bothered by her insinuating she took In Hye in like she did with stray cats.

Choi Do Il continues to intrigue me. I still don't trust him and don't want In Joo to trust him, yet I genuinely wish he falls in love with In Joo. Hahaha! But I find it unconvincing someone like him would be attracted to In Joo. She's so gullible and easy to manipulate. Unless he finds that endearing and relaxing being with her since she'll always be predictable by him and he need not worry about being betrayed.

I really like how the story intertwine with all the characters. Now even Great Aunt seems to be connected to General Won. This continues keeping the story interesting and I want to know more.

Back to Hyo Rin. I'm puzzled as to how she "sees" the crime scene. I mean, was she there that night? I find it rather odd that Park Jae Sang would dirty his own hands by doing the killing himself. Logically there's too much at stake for him (election time) that he shouldn't have any dirts on him. Unless he's a serial killer and enjoys killing.

Totally agree with everything here - I think I actually started to get into the drama from episode 5 to be honest because I'm liking how all the threads tie together and are becoming a bit of a claustophobic spider web! As for Choi do il, I agree - I'm like so wary when he's on screen but also charmed? Haha, is @Tofu watching this series since Wi Ha Joon is her oppa? There was this one scene where he was denying that he was in league with In Joo and the way he smiled/ smirked when he said iit was just a fling? That was a look :smug:

Hyo Rin = I don't think she saw the same murder, but maybe another similar one in childhood? :idk:

  10. Episodes 2-6

WOW EPISODE 6 CLIFFHANGER :lettalKWA::psweatduck: And Yay! Thanks to the looong weekend I've finally caught up. At first I wasn't sure if I enjoyed the series - it's been a bit of back and forth mainly because I think I'm looking for similarities with the book as an adaptation but also trying to see it as an entirely seperate project. And I was 'meh' about this obsession with money. It's so in your face. Normally I love social commentary and don't have an issue with popular series that focus on this - I'm a big, big fan of Squid Game, loved Parasite...but I found the first 4 episodes of this grating and like super dramatic. BUT by episode 5, things became really  unpredictable and the over-the-top dramatic style makes sense because now you know the deeper darker secrets and there's a few deep layers to play with so I'm settling in. Also there's like a slightly supernatural element with the orchid and that cult-like, illuminati society - it's so spooky and I even had to watch the last part of episode 6 this morning because I was creeped out. Hahaha I feel like the opposite of some of you like @Chocolate who started tuning out this week

     :laugh::laugh::laugh:

You don't really know who is reliable narrator and who you can trust. I love that all the characters have this very sinister side to them, but then they can present as quite victimised as well...and then every character seems to know a lot about what's going on, but are also playing this against each other with the 3 sisters who are just starting to enter this world. Choi Do-il is very hard to trust, but then again, at least he's also really honest that all he cares about is money. It also seems to be implied that he does care about Oh In Joo since he seems to worry when she's in danger...but she also has his money, so who knows? :idk: But since he's been working wiith that family for a long time, he knows the ins and outs and all the dark secrets of that family, so it feels like In Joo is better off trusting him with a grain of salt than not. You know who I started out disliking heaps, but now appreciate? The mum/ wife Won Sang-A - her fakeness was irritating at fiirst, but then she showed this sad victimised side BUT then might also be an act according to Choi Do-il who also accurately described the sort of actions she pulls on those who work as her assistant?! She laso seems to have this bubbling rage and sense of revenge under the surface and I enjoy the duality :psweatduck:

As for the sisters themselves, I have to say like @ktcjdrama I really don't like any of the sisters (though I think the way they were written was on purpose)  All of them have such extreme personalities that I wish they would tone down a little because sometimes it feels like they aren't being careful in a world they could easily die in   In Joo I suppose is meant to be likeable, and sometimes she is, but I also find her very irritating because she just says her suspicions directly to the people she suspects and then acts 'naive' or like grovelling? But maybe I have a bias, as @mademoiselle knows I'm already not a fan of the actress :idk: In Kyung has no chill and although I respect her strong sense of ethics, I find her inability to have people skills to be very irritating - sometimes in order to convince people you need to be flexible, or to use their ways, instead of hardlining and alienate them. Also her inability be strategic is also frustrating. Like maybe find a more foolproof way to take down a person like that??? As for the youngest sister, In Hye, I find her to be very selfish, but that's like the book and also, with her family being this dysfunctional due to money and constantly embarrassing her, I think I understand why she would stick to the rich family. BUT the fact she would cover up a murder and the fact that she seems to think having a murderer for a dad than a poor guy is very problematic and cold, so I also find her dislikeable. What a family

I've made these edits for fun, but I just don't want for people to get the wrong idea that it's real - I think some fans get extra sensitive. Also, I haven't done a crazy photoshop - these are PEB's actual Arena Magazine photoshoots just paired with KTO's recent photoshoots - I haven't doctored the photos so much except to make some of the monochrome. It's unfortunate that KTO will be away for 18 months, but he enlisted with great love.

[Video] Woo Yong-woo's enlistment of the man Kang Tae-o...'Giant salute to the short head of the 'Warm' (naver.com)

Ooooh Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen the entire video, just the snippets on Twitter! And it's funny how even the media are editing things with Park Eun bin into it

Also the fact that even Netflix is making PEB and KTO edits! Bless them -although I didn't think much of Run On, I really liked KTO's character in it and I loved Hello My Twenties:laugh::heart:

I'll miss getting all this KTO content while he's gone...also just his charming clumsiness...it reminds me of the final fan meet when he walked off with the mic too

! i remember i didnt appreciate an inappropriate touch by PEB's ml in tka at the sunset kiss scene. well PEB didnt complain about it, why did i get upset about it? it was at this point i was quite turned off by that ml.

Oh really? I can't remember, but maybe it's because it's been so long since then. I prefer the Taebin chemistry anyway!

if KTO's acting is bad as lee junho, then there wouldnt be a heart-fluttering love story between youngwoo and junho, and wouldnt have those pure and yet passionate kiss scenes that capture attention of viewers in this world! KTO was hardworking and smart, never saw an actor did an internet research at the filming site to deal with a scene. no matter how great PEB's acting is, she cannot do everything by herself! takes two hands to clap!

was quite surprised that KTO didnt land on any ml roles after winning the kbs best supporting actor through nokdu. his acting was so versatile in that drama, but didnt get any attention from good producers! hope some good agencies would reach out to him to advance his career after his return from military service!

So true! I think it takes 2 to build a good romance in a drama and KTO brought as much to the table as PEB. Even though her character was the one with more of storyline, KTO also brought out the right amount of romantic tension that captivated the audience and made the love line both wholesome/ endearing and heart-fluttering :hearties:

Yeah, it's been a long climb for KTO - almost a decade of being mostly second lead. Some actors get to first lead quickly (Eg. Lee Jae Wook) and others have a much longer journey, or only get a few small lead roles and have to go back to second lead (I'm thinking of actors like Yoon Park).. I think KTO's star is now big enough for him to be offered lead roles for sure when he's back though!

aahaahah thanks @JenL...yes I can take angst. See all the crazy dramas I watch. Hahahaha. The song they used was the main OST from this rom-com (which was also quite angsty towards the end ) called Oh My Baby starring Jang Nara

Hahaha, I can take angst if it's relevant...but melo is often unnecessary angst prolonged for 16 episodes  But if it's means that Taebin get reunited, I would gladly accept melo

    @JenL

I definitely agree with you that LJH is an average character or "plain joe or nice guy in the neighborhood". The majority of K-drama viewers have preconceived notions about the ML/FL role. The strong or deep character is always defined as someone extraordinary with a wound or suffering from an abusive background, or chaebol with a difficult life, ML/FL is a childhood sweetheart, and so on. Then ML and FL will have to face the entire world in order to live a normal life. While LJH was not, I admired his ordinary character with a non-dramatic backstory. EAW defies k-drama stereotypes. Of course, it wasn't perfect, but it served its purpose.

Yep, Jun Ho was definitely the sweet guy next door type, but I think it worked well in this context. If his story had been super dramatic it would have taken away the focus from Woo Young Woo :MewHi:

I think some people also thought Jun Ho was unrealistic because he was 'too nice' and apparently no guys are like that...but that makes me laugh because I definitely know someone in real life who reminds me of Jun Ho a lot! Our relationship is not one that could be romantic, but he's very important to me all the same because he has the same sort of good natured kindness and patience as Jun Ho and is the always-on-your-side type. You know, the sort of person who believes in you even when you don't believe in yourself! Also, I've had a number of people tell me they've had a crush on him before which reminds me of Jun Ho.

Haha, but I do agree with people who say it's too hard to find a guy like Jun Ho to date...they are rare on the market

The micro-expression thingy. He did a lot of them. You can see his moist eyes, lips, jaw, and adam's apple "talking" in all of his scenes!:yayaya: The same with PEB's eyes, expression, and fingers! To be honest, watching him makes me feel fulfilled. And I was a sucker for their scenes. What we had in EAW for these two wasn't enough. I wish there were more of them. Speaking of which, I really like how Swoon combined Run On scene and Oh My Tweenies. Their hair colors match perfectly, and their expressions are adorable!

Yessss, Kang Tae Oh's micro expressions were so amazing. The way his eyes would look so hurt or touched or surprised by Woo Young Woo was so subtle yet so noticeable at the same time. They weren't over the top movements, but little things like a slight up-turn at the corner of his mouth or a slight raiise of the eyebrow. I totally understand - I was a sucker for their scenes too because of their abiility to make everything so beautiful but also deep at the same time. I also wish there were more out takes or additional scenes for us to watch :letalQQ:

Ooooh what video of Run On and Hello my Twenties are you talking about @innrukia?

dont know if it was true... remember reading somewhere that PEB's manager didnt like tka ml, so he cropped him out of PEB's pic even though he was within her perimeter! thought he usually focused on filming PEB, so am surprised to see KTO was included in PEB's pics or clips this time!

Oooh who didn't PEB's manager like? Hahaha, as long as he likes KTO I am fine

Hahaha, omg, yes plsssss....I would love them to have a heated argument in a rom com! I also loved Hot Stove League PEB...and I haven't seen the Finger Flick drama, but now that KTO is in the army and his content will probably dry up some time soon, I'll be watching it when I miss himmm :letalQQ:

@JenL I remember you liked Hwang In Yeop. You should watch Young Actor's Retreat (variety show). Hwang In Yeop is hilariious. He's a variety show virgin and was super nervous and anxious about anything everything. xD And Ji Chang Wook schemed against him by appointing him be the one to go into the Haunted House, and In Yeop is gets so worried, leaving messages to his team saying he's sorry worrying he won't perform well.

Hahahaha, ok I will watch this. I don't often watch variety shows, but I love it when they're being playful and scheming against other stars :laugh::laugh: Maybe this will redeem JCW to me. I haven't liked him since Healer?

It can't be first time coz that means you have SLS while watching your own Oppa's dramas (e.g. LJW's dramas). The second male lead in this drama is not very likable so I wouldn't think anyone would support him over male lead, would it? xD

Haha English is a funny language - I didn't say 'for the first time ever' but rather 'for one of the first times ever' which means 'very rarely' rather than literally the first time. Sorry if it confused you

Although the SL is not very likeable, you'd be surpriised -- I'm sure there's someone out there who will find him cuter and better than male lead. There's always fans who will see things differently  I think he looks very young. Maybe because he has moe of a baby face than male lead. Like he has very big eyes? I don't remember him from The Witch's Diner either - but then again I only had eyes for Chae Jong Hyeop, so not surprised :idk:
