Where have you travel solo apart from TW and M'sia? It's true that some places are best to have accompanies.

Some countries in Europe I went on a day trip alone. I love solo travel, but you just have to be smart about it and take caculated risks. :heiboi:

I do want to go to Egypt one day. We were supposed to have Tutankhamun's exhibition but Covid got in the way and now they will not be moved out of Cairo anymore! Do you guys actually believe in the curses?

Oh, I didn't know it was coming back. If it's the same one, it came to Melbourne years ago., but I didn't see it then because it was always so busy! :psweatduck: Haha, I'm not sure if I believe in curses...but maybe it applies more if you're trying to steal the treasures rather than just exhibiting them

Oh, and because I saw Youth Over Flowers in Africa, I would like to see Victoria Falls too. It's beauuuu-tiful! And I think it'd be a breath-taking moment to see it.

Niagra Falls were very nice too although my memory is fading. Niagra Falls though, have to see it from Toronto's side. I even recognised the particular "view" where X-Men took the shot from the Falls, and I didn't know it was shot there. Hahahahaha!

I'd love to see all these waterfalls! But definitelly have not seen either one. Why is it better from Toronto side? Is it prettier or just the XMen filming location is cool?

Europe is also on the travel list except motivation is low because of the long flight. xD

Hahaha, same for me, though it's more fear of flying than travel sickness :nervous:

I was there for Easter theme and 35th year celebration.

That would make going to the Tower of Terror even more fun!

So true! Though I was sad that I didn't get to ride that Nightmare before Christmas ride. I love Jack and Sally, but it turns out the Japanese do too - the wait for the ride was 3 hrs from memory and i just couldn't justify that for like a 5-15 minute ride.

Did you seriously travel all the way to KL just to see LJW?

    Yes and No

So I tend to go to KL on the regular anyway since I have people I know and care for there, but since I saw that LJW was coming to KL on a specific date (and it would have definitely happened if not for the Halloween tradgedy), it just seemed like a good way to take advantage of that since it's unlikely that I'll ever run into him in Korea and it was going to be free and you could take photos (For context, Park Eun Bin's fan meet in Singapore was like $200 a ticket and you're not allowed to take photos apparently though I'm sure someone will do the sneaky). And even if LJW had a fan meet in Seoul it would be sold out in seconds...so that was my rationale! But also: I hadn't seen my KL peeps for a long time due to no travel during covid years. Also I had/have an excessive amount of leave (and several types of leave) that I haven't used, so even HR/ work was encourage me to use it :idk:

As for travelling to see a celebrity, this is nothing new or strange compared to all my travelling to Taiwan to see Jasper multple times

    :laugh: :laugh::laugh:

I guess as @mademoiselle says travel depends on what you value. For me, I enjoy having some purpose for travel - sometimes it's to go see a celebrity or sometimes it's to go to an exhibition that will never come to my country or sometimes it's to try some pop-up restaurant that is only around for 3 months and then gone forever. I think I like having some exciting experiences   Some people don't care about seeing celebrities in real life and I wouldn't say I care per say or make it my life goal to see everyone I like, but if the opportunity is there and I know can do it and want to do it, I just think 'Why not?' :heiboi: If I'm going to waste all my time watching them in so many shows and talking about them all the time, I guess I may as well see if they are as cool/nice/ pretty in real life to theiir fans as they seem on screen...most of the time there is a surreal kind of magic seeing them in 3D and being candid whhen the camera is not on them....And It makes for a fun travel story!

All of you sound so arty. Travelling to see museums and such. I just laze - leave hotel late morning and return in the afternoon. Then pop out for dinner.

Hahaha I think we just have different travel styles - it sounds like you like the relaxing, do nothing/ leisurely schedule type holiday...that is like my worst nightmare :lettalKWA::laugh: I would get so bored unfortunately. I don't need a lot of sleep, so sleeping in is fine for a few days, but it would really irk me if the person I travelled wiith insisted on sleeping in everyday and wasn't keen on splitting up and meeting later (I've had this happen before where the friend was too scared to split up but was also stubborn in theiir ways.)

Also I guess I'm hardcore. I'll be out the whole day till 9pm. Or in Japan, till 12am

@JenL Not scared of plane ride, just retained the memories of how turbulence made me sick many times. The turbulence always happens after food is served so I threw up a few times. But I eventually figure out travel sickness pill helps. I still don't enjoy plane rides though because I'd still be worried about throwing up and also because the seats are uncomfy for me (be it straight up or recline) and being tied down in a confine space is just not fun.

Ahhh, this makes more sense. I think most people hate plane rides for the motion sickness. It's quite common that people get very pale and try to sleep. I think my closest friend who is the best person to travel with has really bad travel sickness and just takes Valium to knock herself out. Uncomfy seats = economy? Have you tried the more spacey planes or business class (if you can afford - I cannot/ but also don't personally need or value it)

Shirakawago is one of the World Heritage sites. Villages in the mountains and the houses are like huts. Google it. I wanted to go too but it'll be a long trip to get there so ended up didn't do it.

Ohhhhh this is pretty :wow::wow::wow: I'll put it on my list for next Japan trip...but I think it'll probably be a few years before I go back since it's one of the places I went iin more recent times and I'm trying to go to new places too.

I haven't even gone to Mt. Fuji because people were telling me how it's not always you could see Mt. Fuji. Plus I figure I have seen it in pictures and in the train rides anyway so not so keen on it. Hahaha. I'm more into the food and shopping. I do like Nara though..

If you ever eventually choose to do it, the hack is you have to go in Autumn :) It's the easiest season to see the mountain. Winter apparently is ok too, but cold.. It's much harder in Spring and Summer. Lake Kawaguchiko is a good point. The Lake itself has beautiful autumn leaf areas. And you can go to the town and there's souvenir shops etc. It's very cute - all my food was Mt Fuji shaped  .

Ok, back to travelling. When I went to Disneyland / Disney Sea, I was quite amazed that most of the customers are actually Japanese themselves! I'd think after being there a few times the locals would lose interest or get over it* but nope, it seems like a hang out places for the teens. I guess it also helps that they always have events and changes the themes for special festivals like for Easter, New Year and Christmas etc.

*I liked Ballarat's Sovereign Hill at first but after having gone there like 3 times, I'm completely over it. xD

Yep they're totally into themes and special limited edition merch. Japanese people literally buy the pass to go to the shop to buy limited ediition merch. I first found this out when following a stationery instagram shopper. She seems to make a lot of money off this as she resells her purchases in USD!

As for special ocassions, I was at Disneyland Tokyo for Halloween and that was the best day of Halloween EVER. Literally everyone was in costume but me and they were giving me strange looks  Also all the food was like Halloween themed. It was just so cool.

One of the main reasons for the trip is to see the Burj Khalifa and also to experience the desert. There are some interesting places like the Museum of the Future and Dubai's Underwater Zoo /Aquarium ( we love going to aquariums) on my list

This round if I do go back to Japan, I will spend some time in Nagoya (some amazing science type museums - the kiddo loves things like that) and go to Shirakawago.

Since I have to fly in via Tokyo , I will spend a couple of days there to catch up with friends.

Wowww this stuff look so nice. I also love museums due to work and so these places that your kiddies like sound fun to me as well. Nagoya is such a beautiful and calm city - my BFF lived there as she moved for work for a few years so I visited her (and that city) just before covid hit! What's in Shirakawago? :pandablush:

@mademoiselle @abs-oluteM I want to go to Japan too! It one of my greatest wish to go there with my BFF (I have two and she's the one who doesn't watch dramas). My BFF's health is not the best and before she got sick, we talked about going to Japan. I'm hoping that she will get well enough for us to travel. If one day she is not able to travel, I will go for her, but in the meantime, I can't visit without her. I do plan on visiting Malaysia and Singapore in September 2023 if all goes well. I have to fly into South Korea to get to Malaysia so I might consider a stop there too.

I hope your BFF recovers and you both get to go to Japan. It's such a fun place and you just never run out of things to do, no matter where you are really. I had so much fun in all the cities I visited. Yes! Go to Malaysia and Singapore. The food is exellent and there's lots of places to visit. I actually have to properly plan my Sth Korea trip now. It's getting closer and we have booked nothing :psweatduck:

Never! @Tofu has a good list going - hope you make it to all your dream destinations. There's so many places in the world I'd like to go to as well.

I've done most of central Asia almost twice so I'm tempted to go on a tour of all the places I haven't been (and are a bit harder to travel solo) so I can just see them and tick all the boxes. Places like Cambodia or Phillipines I hesitate to go myself...but on tour it seems like it'd be fun. :wow:

Would love to head to Europe and see the other sides and at least step foot in a few countries in Africa so I can experience going to that continent. But I have also just never been to the US, Canada or Sth America...so many places, so little time :BulbaConfused:

But I didn't know about it till late/ didn't feel that compelled to extend my trip for it/ she already siigned my Witch's Diner OST :idk:

Still a good trip for me though. Ate lots of food. Bought lots of stationery. Visited all those mega malls  (Damn that new Pavilion 2 is big!!) Lots of flags everywhere for the big election, huh.

Haha! I have no idea what it is about being on a plane, but it just makes me sleepy. It doesn't matter what time I get on the plane too. If my flight is during mid-day when people normally wouldn't sleep, I would still sleep. Hahaha! I can't sleep for a long period of time though. I'll sleep for 30 minutes, wake up look around, and then sleep again. My BFF can sleep for hours at a time on the plane. I have no idea how she does it.

On 11/5/2022 at 3:45 PM, mademoiselle said:

I think being able to sleep again after waking up is more skillful than sleep for hours at a time. The interruption to the sleep is the deal breaker there. I remember there was only once I was able to sleep through the plane ride. I don't know how or why but I literally just slept and sleep again when was woken up by others. Could you friend possibly taken motion sickness pill that makes her drowsy? I do like taking the drowsy ones so I can sleep (my OS: Yes, drug me please!)

Sleeping is good though - at least it's a very calm way to travel! :pandasleep:

I'm scared of plane rides, something that's almost a phobia, but I can talk myself into them and override the panic side. It's ironic, since I love to travel. But yeah, I get very fixated about flying before I fly - I think i started 7 years ago, that year when MAS had the 2 strange incidents (plane disappearing/ plane blown up). I wish I could sleep like your friend on the plane, but the panic side of my brain is like "Wake up, you need to be alert in case of an accident" :nervous:

@JenL Any news about LJW's schedule? You were right that many many more activities are being cancelled. My other Oppa Yang Se Jong was supposed to drop by Taiwan and this was cancelled too.

LJW's event got postponed indefintely the night before I flew out...:letalQQ: so now I'm here and it's not going to happen BUT they're saying they want to reschedule it... which is worse than cancelling in my opinion because I could have reschuled my trip to match if the cancellation had been announced earlier. :scaredpanda2:  But to be fair they didn''t really have a lot of time to decide and in my heart I knew it was going to be put off out of respect, which is totally understandable.

So while I'm totally happy to be here chilling and having a vacation and doing other things I love, I'm wondering when they'll postpone it till. If it was like next weekend, I could extend my trip or if it was next year I could take another triip...but if it's like the end of this month, that would suck...unless I stay here a month  But they would have to announce it while I was here to decide :BulbaConfused:

Stay safe @JenL ...One Utama (where LJW is scheduled to appear)  is a big and popular mall. Parking is already quite crazy on usual weekends. Go early.

I guess I won't have to worry about crowds now. I am also really traumatised :psweatduck: - the day before there was a huge protest against the horse racing and there were so many people that I ran off to the quieter roads. Though it was the day after the SK incident and so I noticed there were ALOT of cops out and they evenn closed off roads and put barricades to direct pppl

I was horrified when I heard of the news. At first I couldn't get my head around it and how people could get trapped like that. But a few Koreans drew stick people diagrams and explained the domino effects of how people would have fallen and gotten trapped and how those behind would not have known and continued pushing which caused death. The whole thing made me feel so sick to the stomach and I'm so heart broken for all the families. It's just extremely tragc,

@abs-oluteM Haha, yep! My memories of 1U have always been busy, but it was happening I would have been there super early to get a vantage point of the best spot! :MewHi:

@JenL Did you already purchase the ticket?

The good thing about this is that it wasn't ticketed - it's a public event, one done to promote Malaysian- Korean travel. It's not like a personal fan meet, but more like an event where he'd appear and do some interview stuff/ games. But I'm not sure about government tourism events. :letalQQ:

Many events in the Kpop world and bigger government events in SK are being cancelled since everything was so tragic and shocking. The cancelled events mostly related to Halloween though. But the official mourning period is till Nov 5th and he's due to appear in Malaysia on Nov 5th.  But as it's Malaysia, I have friends/ family and there's a bunch of shops/ restaurants I wanted to visit, so I'll still be doing all the things I wanted to do regardless. Nothing has been announced either way, but I guess it's mixing in with the rest of my pre-travel anxieties  :nervous:

I think I saw these pushed to me the day they came out because I have webtoons app on my phone. They must have invested so much to get these popular actors to do the CF. CEW just looks like he comes out of a comic anyway (welll I guess all 3 of them do)

There's Eng subs if anyone wants them!

Feeling quite lost while watching ep.11.... maybe I am not invested in the story anymore? Anyway, this drama still does the cliffhanger really well. And Won Sang Ah is a really sick person.

I'm not lost but just WTF, Hwa Young is alive...? How did she fake her own death?  Need a good explanation coz after all, her face is recognisable when she died.

For now, I'm guessing she joined hands with Do Il and went along in playing dead when Won Sang Ah went to kill her (but did she?). We'll find out (hopefully) tonight.

I think if I am In Joo, I will give Hwa Young a big punch in the face. Although she's stupid and have many chances of walking away from this but nonetheless, she was dragged into this mess so she deserves to at least punch everyone once. Ha ha ha.

I'm not lost, but this is just soooooooooo makjang! Of course, we need to revive a dead person!  I am critical, but I still enjoy thiese cliffhangers where I'm like, wait, WHAAAAAT?! :lettalKWA:

Also totally agree with the punch in the face. I mean, she didnt treat In Joo as a friend. More like a pawn in her game. In a way, she's just a different kind of Won Sang A :idk:

I managed to catch this & I had the exact same thought. If I was In Joo , I’m gonna have a hard time forgiving her . So like what is HY even doing this for ? To expose Won SA?

The amount of twists & turns in this drama is nuts . Lol . But it did keep me engaged . And of course Choi Do IL saved the day. Thanks to him , In Joo will be not have to be in jail for a long time. Ahh if this isn’t love what is . :smug:

Choi Do Il is the only reason I'm still here. I'm not on the ship coz In Joo annoys me, but I just wanna know if the guy is bad...or badly in love

This is such a big-stake mess. How many times the sisters are risking their lives to play the roles HY (and maybe Do Il also) is planning.... How many have died in the process just because HY (and maybe Do Il) wanting to "trick" and "trap" the big bad, instead of working together openly to bring them down. Too elaborate a plan and too dragged out a plan. The Oh sisters are just pawns, when a simple exposing of the blue orchid garden is all it takes to bring WSA down. Am I wrong in my understanding of this? :idk:

@JenL Sighhhh, I was so disappointed Jo rejected Laurie and picked that old man! And Laurie ended up marrying Amy. I didn't read the book and don't want to after watching Winona Ryder rejected Christian Bale in the movie version. I mean, Christian Bale for crying out loud! LOL LOL! :lmao2:

Hahaha I was disappointed too! I mean I hate the childhood romance trope in Kdramas, but in the book it made sense and it didn't make sense that he edned up with Amy?! Ughhh. Haha also Winona Jo made a big mistake rejecting Christian Bale Laurie for sure

And that was when he was at the hot young stage too :smug:

Anyway, agree M'sia and SG have so many kinds of food to eat and try but all that made into the kdrama is Kaya toast at a place that most of you said people may not even find. For the sake of the tourists who saw this drama, I hope the restaurant(s) do sell Kaya toast, otherwise it'd be misleading and false advertising LOL. Now I just need @Chocolate to confirm if that restaurant Go Eun and staff went to have chilli crab is good. Hahahahaha!

Ah Kaya toast. Which can be found anywhere in Malaysia and Singapore, but least of all in some fancy restaurant. Maybe they just picked it because in my experience a lot of Koreans already seem to know what Kaya is. I was shocked that they ate it with cheese in a cafe I went to. :psweatduck:

Hyo Rin is such an angel. I took comfort that she genuinely is a nice person and is good to In Hye. So many dramas would make her a bully. I guess Won Sang Ah and Park Jae Sang were at least good enough parents to put her in a bubble and protect her from their evilness. But honestly, as twisted as Won Sang Ah, it's hard not to expose her crazy self in front of her child since she's a baby to be honest. Ah well, nothing in this drama really makes sense anymore so let's just roll with it to the finale because we have a good cast.

So true! I think the writers would probably justify it as Won Sang Ah enjoyed her secret nature and being fake in front of her child. Also I guess sh only had to treat her as a pet since the housekeepers would look after her. Probably why she grew up relatively normal compared to her psycho parents :MewHi:

I also hope that after this drama, you're not so allergic to Kim Go Eun anymore. As an actress, she was good in her performance. It's just her character that isn't great. LOL.

Hahaha I wish I could say it's changed, but I think it's just been reinforced  I know shes not her character, but she always seems to pick the exact type of characters I really dislike. And I think it's a combination of naive, unable-to-sense-danger, I'm-the-victim, needs-protection type characters. I mean In Joo in many ways reminds me of her Goblin character too. And maybe she's really good at this role, because I always feel irritated when I watch these characters.

I'm frustrated with all the characters. Can they not be so dumb when they execute something and anything? And they actually forgot about In Hye before doing all this dumb things against Won Sang Ah and Park Jae Sang, LOLLL I can only laugh... but ok, not like In Hye will willingly go with her sisters anyway because she wouldn't want to leave Hyo Rin alone.

Hahaha This has been my feelings the entire series. Even though I've caught up now and know what has happened up till Episode 11, I still feel like I found all the characters pretty frustrating even when they manage to get themselves out of the situation or you find out there was a bigger scheme going on. I think it's one of those series where you're meant to hate everyone a little bit, as much as you're meant to like them? :heiboi:

I am highly critical of all of them though, especially In Joo who gets on my nerves. I can't believe it took her till episode 11 to realise that she's being greedy and there are more important things in life than money, which she already had. I wish I could empathise on the proverty front, but aside from the sister who died in the past, I felt like her obsession with money was for really superficial things. It's not like she stole the money to pay rent or buy food, but for ice cream and lip gloss? ...and then the way she tried to justify it when the lawyer was explaining how the court works was very ignorant? Selfish? Not saying he was a good lawyer, but honestly, if every person used her excuses then no one would take responsibility for embezzlements. Ignorance is not an excuse in court :idk:

Good thing In Hye is able to hold her own ground as @Chocolate pointed out. Also I agree with you, of all the sisters, the somewhat cold and aloof In Hye is probably closest to the sister I'd relate to. At least she has brains and is more normal comparatively?

I'm still not convinced that In-kyung is this amazing journalist that Jong-ho praises her to be. She's persistent, I'll give her that much. But there's something about her dedication to the cause that comes across as zealotry in the extreme. And people get hurt. The only reason why she is able to achieve as much as she does in Episode 10 is because she had a lot of help particularly from Choi Do-il in the most recent episode. And if it wasn't for Park Won-sang who sacrificed himself to reveal the monster behind the man, in such a stark fashion, yeah, In-kyung's efforts would be dead in the water as usual.

In Kyung's character is probably the one that I least connect with. Which is a shame as I do love Nam Ji Hyun, but IK and her need for justice or whatever just gets on my nerves. Of course it is only right that she exposes the truth but I feel she's way too emotional as a journalist. In Joo , I can understand since that's how she's been like since the start of the show, and I do think I see some growth over the episodes. But I agree she should not be drinking anything blue from now on!

I definitely found In Kyung annoying too in how extreme she was and her inability to just put on a face to get things done. But I feel like I'd rather take her character over In Joo as I had a hard time with her naivety, I'm-the-victim mentality, obsession with money and lack of literacy for most things. Also she'd just blurt out whatever she was thinking to the person who could just kill her? Hmmm, also the villains are a bit lame if I think about it because they could so easily kill others, but they left the 3 sisters alone? Doesn't really make sense :idk:

Overall the show is interesting - as long as you can suspend belief. Also there's a lot of makjang elements here which makes it hard for me to link this to Louisa M Alcott's book.

@JenL Seeing how there are only 4 episodes left, there's properly not enough time to develop the romance for the sisters. It might just hint at us in the finale that the boys won over their hearts (or in the process to). LOL. Ah well. I guess the show didn't tease/promote their loveline or love scenes so much that I'd be upset if they didn't.

Hahaha yeah this was not a romantic drama in any way really. But then again, I don't think the original Little women book is very romantic either. In fact Jo (In Kyung's equivalent) ends up rejecting her childhood friend...so at least in this version it looks like she has somewhat accepted him with a hug? Or at least hasn't outright rejected him to marry an old man which is what happens in the book :idk:

I think both Park Jae Sang and Won Sang Ah are scary in their own unique ways. Sang Ah seems to be the plotting type (and can wait it out) and stabbed you in the back without knowing. Park Jae Sang seems to be more straight forward in his attack. The thing that I'm really curious about is whether the blue orchid death is related to Sang Ah or Park Jae Sang, or both? Both videos (from the car and the bedroom) suggested both of them were at the crime scene. I think the blue orchid is Sang Ah's signature more than Park Jae Sang but he definitely knows and allows it. I'd think Park Jae Sang might be there to help her staged "her art" because a woman wouldn't be able to lift another woman (when all her weight depended on you) and hang her inside the cupboard.

Oh man, this couple were all sorts of toxic! And I totally agree - it's like backstabbing, snakey Won Sang Ah and violent burte force Park Jae Sang. And then everyone who died for their entertainment or to cover up their crimes! I feel so sorry for their daughter who seems sweet and innocent. How did they manage to raise a child like that?! :nervous:

Hahaha. But that drink was so artifically coloured!!! And she didn't even check the cup, so she had no concerns about the cleanliness or whether it was someone else's drink either. It was a bit of a Godilocks moment

    • Another oddity is that, in comparison to TKA, PEB did not say much about EAW after the drama ended. And her interview about EAW published almost the time KTO going enlisted. And her programs with the show was after that as well.

Actually on this point today has been a bit tense with like a mini fan war between PEB & KTO fans because apparently PEB didn't mention KTO in this interview and this upset some people. Once again, I feel like fans took things out of context because they were talking about the group chat and so PEB mentioned the other 3 because it's well known that they talk a lot on the chat, while her and KTO only join in once in awhile because they're busier and not that much into texting.  :idk:

This is why I must tell people to listen to my latest podcast episode!!! It will help you to develop context about Park Eun bin and Kang Tae Oh and be happier as a fan rather than unhappy/ accusatory etc :MewHi:

To conclude it all is the storyline and the different concepts of promoting the project. TKA's plot emphasizes the couple/love story rather than PEB as the protagonist. The behind-the-scenes video in TKA focused on the actors communicating with each other more than filming, whereas the video in EAW focused on the creation of scenes and the process by which the actors delivered each scene.

    Nonetheless,

    • PEB and TKA ML prioritize bringing a romance piece to the audience over PEB's role as king. I'll say it again because it's so clear in all of the videos and interviews.
    • TKA plot was not as sensitive as the EAW subject. And it benefits PEB and TKA ML to go all out in promoting the drama with follow-up events after the drama concludes. The promotional setting, which included a couple photoshoot and interviews with ML (there was a video with two couples), allowed all of the attention to be on her and ML. While no EAW photoshoots or couple interviews have been reported,

@innrukia So well said! Also we share the exact same thoughts because I also said all this too in a podcast! Like it's so spooky because we made almost the exact same points  I think it means that it's super clear that there's a context around the dramas that shapes how the actors would act in the Behind the Scenes videos - it's not like they act the ways they do just out of personal feelings, but rather because it matches the dramas they promote.:heiboi:

On 10/2/2022 at 3:08 PM, innrukia said:

    • In TKA, there were continuous interaction and lovey-dovey moment till the end. For EAW there was some interaction at first, but as the show gained popularity around the world, it was abruptly cut off. There were few promotional event for her and the EAW team. Then everything was done individually. I'm sure she and KTO received numerous requests for couple photoshoots and the like, but only God knows what happened.

I think it wasn't cut off as such, but it just became more subtle? I also think it was very much a scheduling thing for promotions. After the drama shot to fame, they would have been booked individually, especially because they belong to different agenncies so I think it was maybe really hard to match up their schedules? :idk:

Anyway, this is a good segway into my recently finished project...I think everyone whose been in this forum might take comfort in this ( @buguz @taebinfan @Kismet_06200904 @Yunn @Unnie0110 @innrukia @cico)

It's a podcast episode that talks about EVERY thing that has been giving Taebin fans anxious thoughts and making them think of conspiracy theories (which I wish people would stop doing). I provide a lot of context for things like no selcas, no hugs, behind the scenes video ediiting, why PEB and KTO behave as they do behind the scenes, no photoshoot, KTO's rings...I think you'll find my points to make sense and to be quite comforting.

The podcast is 2 hours long, but if you're missing EAW, it's a good discussion. In this episode, let's chat about these topics (Click Spoiler bar below for longer notes)

1.The rough penultimate episodes as well as the beautiful ending that unfolded in episode 16.

    2. Defining Shipping culture & Comforting Taebin fans who are anxious and worry that Park Eun Bin or Kang Tae Oh don't get along. We talk about why fans 'ship' their favourite K-drama actors and what the extremes of shipping can mean.I also present a comforting analysis on why Taebin DO get along and go through and provide context for every single rumour or point of angst that I've heard from anxious fans.

3.The Possibility of a second season for Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo.

    Spoiler

1.The rough penultimate episodes as well as the beautiful ending that unfolded in episode 16. I talk about the rough ride into the last episode including fan criticisms about pacing and character inconsistencies. But ultimately, we talk about what makes a good K-Drama ending and look at why the ending of Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo was so satisfying and loved by all. Subtopics discussed include how:

-The last episode had great pacing and didn't feel rushed even though it introduced a new relatively important character.

-Closure given to Woo Young Woo's relationship with her mother

-The Kdrama avoided bad tropes including time jumps and the '5 minutes of happiness' ending where the reuinon of the main characters are left to the last 5 minutes of the final episode. Instead, Woo Young Woo and Jun Ho was given a beautiful solution to reunite them.

-The unpopular second lead romance was only implied rather than explicit

-The more villainous characters were shown to have their own growth and none of them turned out to be too bad in the end.

-Young Woo's growth remained the central focus of the story

We also talk about a little bit about the legal cases and how they reflected a lot of realities about the law and the legal system in real life. We look at some of the discussions about social commentary, ethics and about experiences on the spectrum that these cases highlighted.

2.Defining Shipping culture & Comforting Taebin fans who are anxious and worry that Park Eun Bin or Kang Tae Oh don't get along. We talk about why fans 'ship' their favourite K-drama actors and what the extremes of shipping can mean.I also present a comforting analysis on why Taebin DO get along and go through and provide context for every single rumour or point of angst that I've heard from anxious fans. Subtopics discussed include:

    Selcas

    - Not posting a duo only selca doesn't mean that Park Eun bin & Kang Tae Oh dislike each other and posting a selca doesn't prove that they like each other. All it proves is that 2 people enjoy taking photos!

-There are reasons that stars like Park Eun Bin have taken photos with some of her co-stars but not others. For example, stars often take more photos when doing period dramas, the staffers from the agency may encourage the stars to take more photos in certain projects, stars may take more selcas wiith their co-stars if they're promoting a drama that is only considered a romance drama, stars might not promote in such a romantic way if a drama has sensitivites like Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo & some stars might not like taking selcas/selfies.

    Behind the Scenes footage

    - Park Eun bin and Kang Tae Oh had a more organic type of chemistry in the behind the scenes videos rather than one made for show, Behind the scenes videos also depend on the editing and type of activites shown (ie. the best behind the scenes videos show more scenes of the acotrs playing around between takes rather than just filming the scenes themselves. EAW sometimes focused more on the filming side of things)

-Also the behind the scenes didn'r show all of Park Eun bin and Kang Tae Oh's moments together - the montage of scenes at the start of each behind the scenes video shows there's other moments that they have included a few seconds of, but have not shared entirely in the videos. But you can see how playful they are in other interviews & Swoon games videos.

    - In terms of Park Eun Bin's behaviour towards Kang Tae Oh on set, she often had to stay in character, her character was challenging to play so she had to focus and they shot romance scenes at night which was tiring...so it makes sense that she might not have been as hyped up behind the scenes. But Kang Tae Oh matched her moods.

-The genre and length of a drama also determine how the actors might interact in a behind the scenes video.

-No behind the scenes hug = it's probably because they finished filming on different shoots.

-Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh do show their own sense of closeness - Park Eun Bin teases Kang Tae Oh a lot more than she had with her past co-stars. And they have their own moments of tenderness like Park Eun Bin stroking Kang Tae Oh's hand when they have to hold hands.

Interviews, Fan meets, Photoshoots & Ring

-Photoshoots: Unfortunately, Park Eun bin and Kang tae Oh didn't have a photoshoot because of magazines not offering a photoshoot slot in time. And then schedules not aligning.

-Interviews: Park Eun bin choose to call Kang Tae Oh a friend rather than just an actor she worked with which showed a sign of closeness.

-Fan Meets: It's rare for K-dramas to get a fan meet, but Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo got one and we got to see Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh interact live. There were sweet moments between the two with Kang Tae Oh whispering to Park eun Bin etc. And Kang Tae Oh continues to be attentive to Park Eun Bin which shows he's not being frozen out by her, but understand her intentions. In terms of Park Eun Bin's personal fan meet, she didn't turn away from Kang Tae Oh, but from her own acting.

-Ring: Kang Tae Oh says the ring is from his CEO and it would be a term of respect to wear a gift from your boss, In Asian culture, rings are not necessarily a marker of a relationship.

3.The Possibility of a second season for Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo. We talk about why Kdramas rarely have second seasons compared to US shows and look at reasons why Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young Woo might not have a second season including Kang Tae Oh's military enlistment and Park Eun Bin's tiredness from filming as well as reluctance to weaken the storyline. We also talk about what would be better than having a season 2.
