  1. Ok so I've been a little behind in dramas since I moved houses...BUT I JUST WATCHED THE ENDING FOR HEARTBEAT AND WTF WAS THAT?! Did you end up finishing it @SilverMoonTea?!

I think I'm cursed to like doomed pairings :letalQQ::letalQQ::letalQQ:

I can't even begin to talk about it at the moment. I think I need to make an entire podcast outlining all my issues with this drama, although I liked the main pair a lot. My poor vampire Taecyeon aand my poor In Hae.  I can't tell which ending I hated more out of DDSSLLS or this one. This one definitely made more sense, but the pacing was awful. DDSSLLS was wacked at the end, but at least it had a mildly happy ending? Kdrama is meant to relieve me of stress not cause it :psweatduck:

  2. Hello friends! Are we turniing 3 already?! :lettalKWA::CharmanderYay:

I was summoned here by @abs-oluteM via her reply that @SilverMoonTea should mention me in relation to Before We Get Married. I have so many things to say about that love triangle...How is it possible that both the main lead and second lead were both toxic in that drama?!?!  I disliked everyone. It wasn't Jasper playing the main lead and Jasper and Puff chemistry I would have been long gone (Sorry Tea, it's like one of your crack dramas! But I liked that it got you to notice my boy Jasper)

As for me, I am a very regular sufferer of Second Lead Syndrome. I think it's something to do with the fact that I probably enjoy rooting for the underdog. And maybe because I started watching dramas in the era where they loved to make the main lead toxic, but then the second lead a kind empathetic soul who didn't get the girl due to bad timing or tragic circumstances or grl being oblivious (Think Boys Over Flowers, You're Beautiful etc). So I feel like that pity and wanting to adopt the second lead has lingered throughout my life as a Kdrama watcher.

    Memorable Kdrama Love Triangles

You're Beautiful - I did not watch this Kdrama oddly enough. I thought the main guy was super toxic but everyone around me (who was watching the show) loved him. But then by chance I saw a clip of Jung Yong Hwa as the second lead and thought he was both more attractive and super kind to the FL that I was devastated that FL would never notice him. It didn't make me watch the drama, but it did make me watch Heartstrings (another drama where they paired the FL and SL from You're Beautiful) and it did start my on-again-off-again addiction to JYH and CNBlue. It is also probably the origin story as to why I get SLS.:yayaya:

Extraordinary You - I know I'm the one who is always anti-toxic-male-characters...so why did I fall for this super toxic second lead??? :lettalKWA: Aside from the fact that he was Lee Jae Wook who is very talented at playing nuanced characters , I think the love triangle got me in this one because it was about more than just the characters being stereotypes. They were complicated becaue they were controlled by a god-like comic book writer who made them who they were. So the second lead was toxic because the writer forced him to be that way. And it was painful to see that he graudally became a better person when he developed a consciousness and actually liked the FL, but realised if he wanted her to be happy he had to let her go despite his own feelings :letalQQ: Also he had been made to treat her so badly in the past by the writer that there wasn't really a way he could make up for his behaviours even though they were mostly out of his control

King's Affection - I loved all the male leads in this drama. But damn, I had such a soft spot for Nam Yoon Su's character in this drama. I don't know what it was, but I think he was super empathetic and caring for Park Eun Bin. It hurt to see him sidelined. But I also liked Rowoon and he wasn't toxic, so all pairing worked. Life's so hard when all the mean around you are hot and nice! :idk:

Lost Romance (Taiwanese) - I think @Tofu will understand this one. Simon Lian's character Qing Feng was so much cooler and so much more caring. FL was just so in love with the self-centred main lead, but the second lead always did things to make her happy and ensure she was comfortable. And it was just so hard because Vivian (FL) and Simon (SL) had such good chemistry in real life even though she also had good chemistry with Marcus (ML). Hahahaha, my SLS was so intense during this period - I translated so many SL behind the scenes content and interviews  The drama was a bit meh, but I still miss Qing Feng.

There are more! But these were the main ones that came to mind because they hurt me deep

But what is the psychology behind love triangles that writers see the need to constantly have one in a drama? IRL, it is not even normal to have a two guys like you at the same time.

Not normal for 2 Oppas to like me at the same time...but more normal for me to like 2 different Kdrama Oppas at the same time :lenny:

    1 hour ago, stroppyse said:

I think that what is not normal about a lot of these love triangles is how aggressively the third member may pursue the object of his/her desires despite it being obvious that he/she is not liked back.

I tend to have sympathy for the second leads who are graceful in being rejected, and yet continue to be supportive of the lead even after rejection, e.g. Chilbong in 'Reply 1994' or Yook Sung Jae's character in 'Who Are You: School 2015'. However, there are tons of second leads who are obsessive even after rejection, and who go all out to try to break the leads up. Ugh. I tend to think of those obsessive second leads as poor plot devices to try to keep more angst in the leads' relationship, usually along with the rejection by one or both families.

I agree. I only get SLS because I tend to watch more series where the SL gracefully bows out of the FL's life. Sometimes they don't even confess knowing the FL's feelings for ML. But yeah, have definitely seen many hatable second leads too - The SL from Heatbeat at the moment is pretty gross (likes the FL and wants her to cut off contact with ML due to 'safety' though she's fine)

Hahaha I love that when @abs-oluteM says she has no time she's still diligently watching 5 dramas. When I have no time, I'm watching 1/2 an episode in one week of a single drama

@Tofu I think sometimes there's no crack drama to keep you addicted. It's nice to have a break every now and then...hopefully sometime will really catch your eye soon!

It's because we discussed about men's hands/fingers before and what we like. I thought the length of the fingernails are just nice. It's cut to the edge of the skin and looks clean and tidy. The cuticles (?) or nail fold (?) are removed so it exposes the nail plates more and make the nails look longer. Both of them have gotten manicure coz manicurist would the cuticles. Or do you guys do that at home with the cuticle / nail set? I don't do mine because I believe the cuticles are there to protect the fingernails.

This is a very specific description   But I love that you notice all of the details! Whose hand is it???

@JenL But the episode after the kiss was so so to me. The date in the amusement park felt outdated. I meant give me somewhere else than there lols. Or it's just probably date in amusement park just never pull the string of my heart and not my dream date destination I don't know 😅

Hahaha I like amuseument parks and don't mind amusement park dates. But I thought the way that Woo Hyeol acted at the amuseument park was a bit too cheesey/ silly? Hahaha I was not convinced by his being sick on that ride or his being scared in the fun house...Taec=yeon's acting was too over the top in those scenes :lenny: I also thought maybe the child actor was a bit green to acting. Most of the time I'm shocked at how good child actors are. But that child actor felt like he just memorised the lines. :idk:

But I do like the sort of 'impossible' mechanics of this show though. Like how can Woo Hyeol like In Hae when Hae Sun's new version shows up? And in that last episode, it's horrifying to think that one must die so the other one can live :psweatduck:

Introduction, time jump, crush, interactions, misunderstanding led to 💔, time jump, meet again and then things pick up from there.

There wasn't. He was the only one I read have classmates coming out to defend him. He was cleared but the general public doesn't seem to believe it. I don't actually know how bad it is or just a minority complaining. The rating for episode 2 did increase though so maybe just a minority making noises.

If he had people come out to defend him, it makes me feel a bit better...a bit more justified that he was less likely to be a bully.  It's hard to know what's real, but I think if people come out to speak on yoour behalf, it's definitely a good sign of character.

Hopefully the ratings continue to increase. The Uncanny Counter is just too good as a drama - humour, pacing, action. I just feel like it's revived my jadedness for dramas this year. I really hope it sweeps ratings!

I DIED WITH THE 2ND KISS. It was too cute the way he pulled her on top of him and they cuddled :BulbaOWO::heart:

I feel like they're cute when they're both a little awkward :wow:

But realistic me was thinking...If it was me in that situation, I totally would have runied the moment by being like, "Hey why are you kissing me when they said you still like Hae Sun?!" Hidden Love - is a C-drama romance and no voice dubbing. I highly recommend trying a few episodes! I am curious to know if you'll love it. There are a lot of tractions internationally and on social media (maybe due to it available of NF). The leads have really good chemistry. By the end of episode 2 I was pretty sold. Love that the ML was sweet and observant of her "girly situation" and both him and her brother bought sanitary pads and a skirt for her. As of now, there is no memorable romantic couple for me this year except this one. It's getting really rare these days—I find it'd usually be one couple per year nowadays.

Hmmm maybe I'll give it a try. I've never been able to get into a C-Drama romance. I can't help but find the romances (that I've seen in the past up till now at least) to feel too mushy too quickly without that slow burn tension...buttttt maybe it's because I've never picked the right dramas for my taste before?  The only C-drama I loved was The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty which I think was not anyone's cup of tea here, but quite popular on the webs for a very mild boys love/ bromance drama :idk:

Bloodhounds - Exactly! I was internally screaming, "Noooo! Don't let Siwon know about the gold bars!" And then voila, they piled it right in front of him and then he goes off with his amazing speech of setting up a fund to help people and all I could think of is, "Yeah right, you'll find ways to siphon them with some fancy good cause but in reality, it all goes into your pocket!" I don't know man, I guess I'm more jaded and don't believe in humans that much. LOL

Oh so glad that I was not the only one who felt like that!!! I was soooo skeptical that he wasn't just going to use it to build dud businesses, drink and gamble etc I think we're all pretty jaded, but can you blame us when Siwon's character was such a scaredy rich kid?!  :idk:

Kim Sae Ron's situation is an unfortunate one. The production team can't even have her back at the end of the finale for a proper closing of the drama because of her scandal. I think it would have been an OK with DUI if she hadn't gone off posting on IG the rest of the things she did. People in general can be really cruel and critical. Like now, The Uncanny Counter 2 is getting some whiplash because of Cho Byeong Gyu's bully scandal. People still don't believe him and it doesn't look good when So Mun is a character that protects the weak and against bullying. I'm just going to believe he is innocent and enjoy the drama as is.

I like KSR as an actress and think she's pretty and talented, but I think she did act pretty poorly and handled her social media very badly as well. Not that I think people should be unncessarily cruel, but I do understand why people are quick to anger when they hear her name. I think that she should have gone through rehab rather than get a fine...does that even fix a drinking problem?! :nervous:

I also wish the story telling of a drama wasn't affectd by this   They didn't need to give her a big scene, just a brief reference to her character would have helped heaps.

Oh nooo, I love The Uncanny Counter so far. If not guilty, I feel bad for CBG - from memory, I don't think there's substantial evidence of bullying?  It's one of those things where he was accused in the middle of the scanndal period and then it was a their word vs. his word type scendario, which is much harder to prove inocence in. I don't know - I feel like people need to address the casues of bullying and change the underlying culture. In any case, I hope it doesn't ruin the hard work of the other actors. :letalQQ:

King The Land: Quoting @Chocolate, why all the rational people still watching a drama with no plot? For me is, why are people even loving this drama and making it so popular? It's misleading!

See You in My 19th Life: Episode 3-5 were good and later on it becomes draggy. I did not like the ending. It isn't logical to me.

Revenant: So so for me actually. I also find it draggy. Only the latest episodes I'm more engaged again because we're nearing the end, so the mystery is being unravelled.

Heartbeat: At one point I was bored, I was contemplating trying but then I remember @SilverMoonTea can drop drama like the next day so I decided to wait. xD And voila, she's lost interest and also, like Tea, I dislike the second FL.

I wanna sell you Hidden Love, Jen. Can you try it out and see if it is your cuppa? It is on Netflix. Good visuals of the OTP for one, secondly they can act, and thirdly, this story kind of brings back some nostalgic memories of our own past crushes. Hehehe.

Haha this post totally supports what I said before about this year's drama being rather lacklustre :heiboi:

About Heartbeat - it's definitely not the strongest story-telling in a drama, but I think I'm a little too charmed by the silly vampire world and the cute vampire-wanting-to-be-human-to-experinece-true-love portrayed by Ok Taec-Yeon. I've never been a fan of his in the Kpop world, but he has me good in this drama (Funnily enough, I also didn't realise that I'd seen him before in real life when he was at the height of his Kpop fame in 2PM and came down to Australia for that giant Kpop concert that I alway talk about going to because it;s the only Kpop concert I've ever bothered to go to ).

What's Hidden Love? Is it a Chinese romance?

On 7/26/2023 at 6:07 PM, mademoiselle said:

Yeah the last 3 episodes were a bit lacklustre. And yes, agree even though episode 6 was brutal, but it was action packed adrenaline rush kind of drama, especially the first 6. I had fun.

Yeah, I think after the bloodfest, they changed almost all the characters and it was hard to feel as attached to them when you'd really loved all the first people you met. Still, I didn't mind this...but the ending in the very last episode felt anti-climatic to me because they just fight the guys, but they don't show them dying or going to jail. Then Siwan's character ends up getting all the money (except for like 2 gold bars which he gives to them) and he says he'll use the gold to "start a charity" which I don't know if he'd actually do...and in any case, I don't think he deserved the gold bars because he was a coward for most of the series. And Kim Sae Ron's character never comes back or makes contact again? I suppose she's only just come back from a very big scandal irl so maybe it's wasn't realistic to make her character a super likeable hero. But still, it would have been nice even if she sent them a blank postcard from Italy or something like that to tie up that loose end. Also the last scene with the mum at the orphantage just didn't hit me as hard as it could have? :idk:

Still I really liked Bloodhounds for the main 2 characters, the bromance, the evil bad guys (I'd just fnished watching Park Sung Woong not long ago in Unlock the Boss where he was the boss, so it was fun to see him being a real jerk) and the bloodfest :heiboi:

Taecyeon is just wow, he really nailed this role perfectly. Dang those 2nd lead now can eat their fingers, I was so annoyed with them and seems Doosik sunbae will turn into full blown evil who just want to save his own life.

The thing with Hae Won, he did make her confuse 😅 So it's sort of hard to blame her, I really hope our vampire can finally make up his mind. He's like being step into two boats nowadays. And that Mr. Cat can see through all this when he said things will become complicated.

@SilverMoonTea I did!!!  I also really liked that dance and the fact that they were both at a vintage party. Her dress was really nice too. You know how sometimes the female lead is meant to come out in an amazing dress but it's kinda cringe? This was actually nice - the dress was really pretty and vampire Taec-Yeon was admiring but not over the top.

Hahaha, yeah I can't stand either 2nd lead. Doosik wants to eat his heart?! :psweatduck: Like that's pretty messed up! But I knew as soon as they showed the modern day that Doosik would end up being the descendant of the humans that was hunting Sun Woo Hyeol. Hae Won - yeah, I'll give her that point. Can't blame her because I'd be the same if a vampire like Taec-Yeon continued to pursue me  but then suddenly started liking his housemate

Make up your mind Woo Hyeol! The only choice should be In Hae! :pandacop:

@mademoiselle @SilverMoonTea I read on twitter that they are cutting the SYIM19L from original 16 to 12. And I read a lot complains about how badly edited it is. What happened there?

Wow, I thought SYIM19L was the popular drama that everyone was watching but me...But it seems now that it's not that popular. King the Land was the other one - I refuse to watch it because that title is so grammatically wrong :niu:

But glad to know I'm not missing out on much :lenny:

You know there is something wrong with K-Dramaland if @mademoiselle is watching the Werewolf drama wholeheartedly like that. :lmao2:

I definitely feel like it's been a slow drama year. There hasn't been that many dramas that I've loved wholeheartedly and nothing that I've been seriously obsessed with. I think Bloodhounds is so far the best drama of this year for me. Heartbeat , while not amazing in the story pacing department, has probably been the most entertaining mild romance. I also really liked Delivery Man. Was Alechemy of Souls 2  this year as well? That would make it 3 romances I liked - most of them being fantasy-romances. Everything else has been good, but not amazing or not exactly my cup of tea. It's been a weird year! :idk:

At least it's going well in the non-romance department coming up. Really looking forward to The Uncanny Counter being back, as well as D.P  I already watched the first ep of Uncanny Counter and I felt like it was pretty good - already exciting and funny with good pacing. The bad guys look badddd as well, which is what I want :pandaevil:

Dont know how they will communicate @mademoiselle@Tofulols... Btw this J actor is Seo Kang Joon look alike.

Hahaha, do you guys remember when they did this with Taiwanese dramas? I'm mainly looking at @Tofu and maybe @mademoiselle. I always forget and then get surprised again when I realise George Hu and Park Shin hye were in a drama together - Hayate the Combat Butler . I remember thinking that it looked sooooo awkward a lot of the time due to the dubbing, though the actors themselves were not completely terrible at acting and tried their hardest to build chemistry. It was an early Taiwanese series though, so you know, it was very exagerated.

Anyway, maybe I'll watch this J Drama Tea since this J actor looks pretty and this pairing is cute...and I'm curious about how they'll communicate as well (probably with lots of translators on site!)

Yes @JenLI was a bit dissapointed with last 2 episodes too. It did slowed down the drama a lot and I particularly not so fond with 2nd FL. I was hoping they can brought both lead closer, but so far it only create even more distance between them.

But I quite like that he seems to miss IH a lot and saying : Separated for 1 day can be equal to many years and vice versa. This is quite a great revelation to his current own feelings, which he might or might not yet realised the depth of it.

I have no 2nd ML syndrome too, but there are some things I appreciate for his character : 1) He gave IH a lot of space to be with herself when she's upset 2) He quietly make her happy by faking the lottery for free dining 3) The apartment he rented out for her is gorgeous! Old style but very classic. Okay I'm clearly a material girl ? :laugh:Irl I maybe will pick him, instead of having to sacrifice myself to be the source of blood ? 🤣🤪

Glad I wasn't the only one who was angsty with all those second lead scenes! It was seriously putting me off last week when they kept showing second FL and second ML. I felt like the main couple have barely realised they liked each other and would never have the time to because they were spennding so much time with second leads (never thought I would ever say those words as a person who almost always has second lead syndrome! )

I think the whole storyline with the 2nd FL being the past lover is so strong and it kinda hurts because it takes away time from the main pair. But I'm glad they decided to amp up the tension between the main pair this week (I see you've written a post about it! So will reply to that then)

Hahaha I see what you like about the 2nd ML @SilverMoonTea and it's called money :MeowthM::pandatakeit::laugh:

As of Revenant, me and @mademoisellecan survive it. So I guess it's not too scary ? I have low tolerance to ghosts too nowadays... I can't even finishing The Ghost Detective because it's too disturbing for me. Not to mention The Guest, I runaway when the drama just starting for a few mins

But some scenes of Revenant did give me some goosebumps, especially when she suddenly laugh or acting maniacally. Great storyline and have a good pace, just some few episodes a bit stretching and just like a filler gap. No handsome oppas bare in mind haha, but in the end I started to think the young detective a bit cute. Haha....

Hahaha what you're describing already scares me!!! I don't like scary laughing. I am a big chicken :lettalKWA:

Also just how young is your young detective?

I have very low expectation with Heartbeat, just want to watch to kill time. But end up, it hit all the correct notes.

    - Love the FL, she's sassy & independent woman who think money solve all the problem and not love 😅 Quite grumpy as well, but so endearing. Look wise I sometimes think she a bit similar to Kim Go Eun.

    - Taecyeon is perfect for this role? So funny, yet he can turn very romantic just in a blink of eyes!

    - That sudden kiss really killing me. And I thought I can't be surprised anymore after watching tons of drama haha... Their romance also developed well. She started to warm up after they do things together. Just saw them cleaning the house also quite lovely.

    - Vampire trio also very funny. I wonder who really stole his gold bar.

Totally agree with all your points! I wasn't expecting much since it looked like just campy, fun vampire drama. But the female lead is super endearing. I think Won Ji An is prettier and is more natural in her acting as In Hae than KGE has been with a lot of her characters (But I'm biased  :heiboi:).

I'm really like Taecyon though :BulbaOWO: He looks mightly fine in those suits. And I think he's a good mix of innocent-silly and serious-seductive which makes for good vampire comedy.

That kiss in Episode 3 was everything! But I'm a little sad that the last 2 episodes focused on the second leads so much :letalQQ: I'm not liking that the second leads spend so much tim splitting up our main couple! :pandarage2:

I'm worried that they'll continue focusing on the second leads in the next episodes too :psweatduck: Do you feel like it's slowing down the pacing of the show??? I feel like it is!

On 7/18/2023 at 9:14 AM, SilverMoonTea said:

The less thing that I like is the 2nd FL. Maybe she's crucial to the plot line and a vampire herself, but I just wish she won't be hindering the blossoming romance too much. The 2nd ML maybe a vampire hunter? But he's quite likeable so far.

I don't like either of the second leads in this drama! They haven't even done anything yet, but I just don't have the patience for them. What do you like about the male second lead? I suppose he's nice to In Hae. Hahahaha, must be like the first time in my life I don't have second lead syndrome @mademoiselle. I'm first lead 100% in this drama

I think a lot has happened to me recently and it's winter, so I'm lacking enery...I fall asleep watching half an episode even when I'm into the drama :idk: The only one I've been awake for is Heartbeat! I'm glad you're getting some other things like excerise done with your spare time though!

By the way, Important news for @SilverMoonTea I have adopted new Oppas for this year!!! :Party01:

From Bloodhounds: Woo Do Hwan (That scene where they're training and looking mightly ripped, all that bromance. Damn :SquirtleNiceAhah:)

From My Mister (I finally watched it!): Lee Sun Kyun (Yeah, that's right, hes joinned my old man ahjussi crushes. He never got to me like Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince. But he got to me in My Mister! :heiboi:

From Heartbeat: Ok TaecYeon (I'm realllllly into him at the moment. I was like maybe I'll warm to him in this drama. And damn, it happened. He makes a really hot vampire - equal parts warm and funny.)  I really like Heartbeat by the way. It's not super exciting in that there's no big bad guy yet...but it's a fun series with lots of vampire world building. And the romance is quite slow burn at the moment.

Who else has adopted Oppas lately? Hahaha now Tea can't tell me off for not adopting bcause suddenly I've adopted a bunch. I don't know if any of these are super strong loves, but they're still loves right? :smug:

It was truly one of my favorite and there's so much I liked about it. Definitely take a look if you haven't yet!

@Tofu it makes me sad that I'm not here as often, but just know I'm always thinking of you around dinner time due to your username  I haven't watched a Taiwanese drama in so long. I don't know the male lead, but it's good to learn the next gen of Taiwanese stars. I feel like I haven't really bothered  because I still love all the old school actors

It's just that it made you realise, those became inactive are those who only joined because of the lockdown. 🥲

Hello! It has been a long time and I totally missed our chats about Oppas and dramas and other fun things...and I agree with what you said about post pandemic life. It's hard sometimes to find time to just hang out on JH because so much is going on in real life :psweatduck:

Haha, to be honest before I joinned JH I was on the S Forums for a long time, but only occasionally and only when I was very addicted to a drama. Once I got over a drama I'd disappear....until the next one. Haha, but then I met you guys and started hanging out on JH more and it was fun and not so scary because on fan wars/ stans. But yes, it always feels like we have limited time now that it's not lockdown :idk:

If only those people gave it a few more episodes, they'll see.

Yeah, I was actually pretty hooked on Where Stars Land for a good 2 weeks or so. I guess not suprising because it had my boy, Lee Je Hoon and I also love Chae Soo Bin. But yeah, those people who dropped it after the first few episodes missed out! :lenny:

I actually do like Kim Beom, but haven't really seen anything he's been in since the one where he pursued a woman who was older than him. I feel like maybe I should have watched Tale of the 9 tailed...I don't know why I didn't pick it up. Do you think I'd enjoy it? My Perfect Stranger ends next week so you can binge, and I can let you know if the finale plunged or ends well. Haha

Oh, so do you like the SOOD movie seeing how you watched 3 times? I watched it but now it's all a blur in my head. I only remember it could have been better, or someone's screen time was too little that the story wasn't told as fully as it should.

Ah I probably disppeared around the time the SOOD movie came out and abandoned my thread as usual because I was in Korea at the time. Yes, I liked the SOOD movie. It brought back all my old feelings.I'm going to put my thoughts in a spoiler tag so @Tofu doesn't accidentally read it before she sees the film

    Spoiler

I enjoyed the film and thought it was a lovely way to say Thank you and good bye to fans. I think the first time I watched it, the first quarter felt a bit repeitive or rushed, but I understood they were trying to catch up for those who already knowledgeable about the drama...and maybe trying to refresh fans' memories. But I got really into it from the second quarter of the film when you start to see the differences in the timelines. The romance was still cute. I think Greg and Alice were pretty natural. And I liked that the movie also showed what happened to Chen Yun Ru and Wang Quan Sheng who were the other characters, but not the main characters, that alice and greg played. Mo Jun Jie / Patrick didn't get as much air time as they included that other romance for Chen Yun Ru...I don't know how I felt about the husband. I guess they needed to include a mainland actor for Chinese fans and maybe funding. Overall, I liked the movie - the drama will always be the best of course.

Hahaha, I saw it 3 times including on Valentine's day because they gave out special collectible things in Korea. Here's a picture of all the collector's tickets and stuff I got when I went to see SOOD at the cinema...They were still giving things out for a month after I came back...I felt sorry for Korean fans though because they were literally getting fatigue from watching the film 20 times  (You couldn't pick up the freebies till after the film). I felt fomo for the stuff I missed, but I'm pretty sure you can buy it online from Korean version of ebay etc.

I've been watching Leo Luo and Bai Lu drama. And their chemistry is amazing. I can't stop thinking about them for a while haha... Their photoshoot is amazing...

I have a Twitter friend, Milk Tea (you might have seen her around. She seems to love Taiwanese dramas too) who loves them soooo much. She loved them from their previous drama together, so might be worth checking out if you're a fan of them 2

I like Where Starts Land in the beginning, but I can't finish it either lols. The FL quite pretty and cute but I think her character there not my favourite. She's very good in A Piece of Your Mind & I'm not A Robot. I think you might like both, when u're dramaless can try.

Hahaha I ended up finishing  because Lee Je Hoon and Chae Soo Bin look so pretty together and have a cute romance. The storyline was pretty fast-paced and good to follow,  though I don't know if I liked some of the character's reasonings for why they wanted to do what they wanted to do. I agree - Chae soon Bin is good in her other dramas. Thanks for the recommendations - I've seen both before! I really liked her in I'm not a Robot and I saw A Piece of Your Mind a little while ago though I was very irritated by the 2nd leads and side characters in that drama. :heiboi:

So the cast is finally confirmed.... I am still on the edge about watching because I love the original so much. Let’s see how the initial reviews go.

I am too! The original was such a good drama that I don't know how I'm going to feel about this one. I feel like Kdrama fans who do not watch other Asian dramas will love it given the big name leads, but I personally loved the original cast and characters too much that I don't think I'm going to be able to equate them. I think if I choose to watch, I will have to do thinking that it's a different drama anyway and not a remake. :idk:

I opened it coz neither Tofu nor JenL want to 😆

Plus I figure it might be too dangerous to rant on social media. Last I did that for The Time We Were Not in Love (remake of In Time with You), a FL's stan had a go at me :KittyMummy:

I did not want to open it. I'm protesting

Well, this drama will be controversial either way if you're for or against it. I tried to be open minded when they announced a Kdrama remake and mentioned on Twitter that on the bright side at least Kdrama land has a lot of money to try to make it pretty. Wow, a stan of SOOD had a go at me...and it was stupid because clearly my entire twitter shows me being a big fan of the original SOOD series. You can't even try to be positive about it :lettalKWA:

My only hope will be that this Kdrama leads people to watch and appreciate the original series...and maybe it'll lead to more promo events with the original crew

Patrick's version of Mo Jun Jie is ingrained so much in me that I can't see anyone else playing this character.

Hahaha I'll also be tagging you if I watch because I'll need someone to complain to when the scenes are not right or when they change anything (wich will probably be everything)

  15. Guyssss, I think I'm ready to come back :CharmanderYay:. I feel bad for disappearing but it's been overwhelming. So much happened over the past few months - the main issue I had (which started during the pandemic) has mostly been resolved. My arm is slowly on the mend. I've been watching dramas but only a few things very slowly - I made it all the way through The Good Bad Mother and I'm catching up on Black Knight now. I've been feeling so tired lately - just very low on energy - but hopefully it's not an issue.

@mademoiselle Thanks for putting me onto the The Good Bad Mother - it was at times a difficult watch because how hard can one person's life be?! But I thought this was one of LDH's better projecs in that I was interested in it :laugh:Also I finally finished an old drama. Where Stars Land . I had been avoiding it for awhile because I heard the female lead was annoying. But aside from the first 2-3 eps where she was kinda annoying, I found her to be pretty likeable. I love Lee Je Hoon as usual but I actually found it a little annoying that he didn't have the patience to heal himself so he could be with her long term (though he finally changed his mind in the end!!!) Overall I liked the drama though and the romance was cute. Rowoon was also so different back then...his voice!!! And he was more slender? Now hs has such a built physique :poliWeird:  What's airing in June? I heard of a vampire romance and I am in. I've always had a weak spot for vampire stories :BulbaOWO:

@abs-oluteM How are you? What are you currently watching in June? I just saw your post on Mi Joo and Kang Ho. I liked them too. Such a challenging romance too. Watching how they struggled for their love kind of puts me off love because it looks like hard work

@Tofu How have you been ? I feel like you tagged me in a few things. I need to go exploring on JH again. Any drama recommendations? This is probably going far back in the year, but did you end up seeing the Someday Or One Day movie? In the end I watched it like 3 times (well at least once more and then I bought tickets to 2 other sessions which I didn't watch) when I was in Korea because there were a lot of freebies each week promoting the movie and I wanted them all!  :psweatduck: Will you watch the Korean remake?!

@SilverMoonTea I thought of you today because I saw this drama poster as a tiny thumbnail and I thought it was a new Puff and Jasper drama :lettalKWA: But it's not :letalQQ: It's some guy called Fandy Fan and front- on he does NOT look like Jasper. I've never seen his stuff and don't think he's for me personally, but I'm kinda tempted to watch this coz I also like the 2nd female lead and it's been awhile since I watched a Taiwanese drama all the way through.

Did you end up finishing Delivery Man btw?! I watched it all and quite liked the drama. They were a cute ghost and human couple. I ened up forgetting about Heavenly Idol though :heiboi:

YESSSSSSS I LOVVVVEEEEEEEEE THEM @mademoiselle Can't believe that they're coming back for a cameo as a pair  Their chemistry was on fire and I loved that they still always sent each other food trucks or would mention each other or that drama from time to time. And I'm interested in the new series too! I loved Lee Yoo Mi in Squid Game too and was wondering when she would get a big role. I'm excited and hoping the series will be better written in terms of storyline than the original (though MinMin couple made me love the original despite story dragging with the subplot)

  19. Episodes 1-6

Guys! I'm on episode 6 and I just LOVE Yoon Jun  I was sold in like the first 5 mins when I saw Sung Joon and Lee Sung Kyung appear on screen. This guy has the BEST voice and damn, Yoon Jun is such a funny character with that chill, but deadpan humour.  I'm so glad Sung Joon is back as an actor because it's been such a long break he's taken. (Not that I watched a lot of his dramas admittedly after Shut Up Flower Boy Band   But hey, I still missed him. Although I really hated the drama Lie to Me, he got me real good as the second lead in that ). I'm up to the part where Yoon Jun brings the brother clothes and admits he was just acting upset when talking to Woo Joo  I really like Yoon Jun's interactions with all the siblings and wish I had a close friend like him :wow:

At first I didn't think I'd be into this drama, but maybe I'm just in the mood for misery again. because I like how raw everything is in this series. I feel like this sits in that misery-slice-of-life genre like My Liberation Notes, but it's somewhat lighter with the characters being a bit more likeable on the whole (or at least I can see where Woo Joo and her sibling's crazy behaviours come from.) Like the older sister in that series, Hye Sung is super needy and trying to fill a void for love. Also similar is Woo Joo who is as miserable and internally frustrated/ angry as Mi Jeong to begin with  I don't blame Woo Joo as it's a really horrible thing her father did and the stepmother is a nasty piece of work...but I find her character to be so overly emotional that it makes me cringe sometimes. Like she presents so hard as cold and abruot, but she doesn't quite think logically about how best to get her stepmother back. Making a scene at a funeral doesn't work unless you can really one-up someone. Also throwing herself in front of a car?! :lettalKWA: Why would you hurt yourself when you can polish yourself up and get revenge :pandaevil:

But the gradual character development is great. I like that the drama shows that there's a fine line between love and hate. And the more she spends time with Dong Jin, the more she comes to see that his life is just as miserable as hers. I find Dong Jin to be more relatable with his people pleasing, self punishing ways (although his behaviour is to the extreme!) and I just love how Kim Young Kwan portrays him. Man, the way his character looks at Woo Joo is something! :wow: His ex-girlfriend is ery annoying though. How shameless can you get coming back expecting to slip into their lives after cheating to the point of almost marriage?! :GengarPout:

  20. @Tofu @mademoiselle So I not only contiued watching this drama, I actually really got into it and actually ended up really liking it a lot  I converted from skeptic to fanatic.

    Episodes 1-12

I liked this drama because the story was relatively fast paced and all the characters were quite likeable, except for the bad guys who were quite evil (which is the way I like my evil people to be).

I'll say that it took me at least 2-3 episodes before I got into it - the editing/ directing wasn't the greatest which is why I feel the first couple of episodes weren't as interesting as they could be. For example, they weren't very good at doing transitions (ie. each episode started with a prologue, but they weren't very clear at indicating this. They also liked to do spoof scenes of other movies like Parasite and The Truman Show but sometimes you couldn't tell if it was actually part of the real events or just a daydream.) And the acting of certain characters like the parents or other workmates were sometimes toeing the line to being too silly. :idk:

BUT there was something charming about all the characters  and I liked how most of the main characters were portrayed as having a potentially sinister side - you couldn't always tell who was going to be good or bad. The cliffhangers were good and even though you knew who the main bad guys were, I thought it did a good job of keeping a sense of mystery and things to figure out. There wasn't heaps of romance, but it was wayyyy better than the love line in Love All Play. I quite like the actress and her character was pretty cool - she was able to solve problems and developed as a person and love interest. They had a good kiss in episode 10 or so :smug:

But most importantly...Chae Jong Hyeop makes for a hot CEO. Put him in more suits, pls

    :cool::wow::SquirtleNiceAhah:

The drama has some silliness, but once you get past (pass?) that it's actually pretty fun watch. The trick is not to take everything too seriously coz it's just not that kind of show. He is very charming in some scenes, especially when he was seriously performing/singing on stage or taking a photoshoot (he only did it so that he could "eat" the junk food displayed on the table).

I feel like I'm sold now that you've said he's charming...these gifs are cute too

Rowoon has so little screen time in Where Stars Land and I don't usually develop SLS so he's no match against Lee Je Hoon. 😆 Were you annoyed with the ending? I don't understand why the show decided not to show LJH's face. That was definitely LJH anyway, not acted by a substitute.

Rowoon is the second lead in Where Stars Land?!?! I downloaded a few episodes for the plane ride home, but didn't get around to it. I feel like I'm always busy now. But I'm not sure why. Maybe it's due to the exercising. Since the start of the year I've been putting more time into health care which is good...but definitely takes tim away from dramas :letalQQ:

The drama is good to accompany while you're doing something else haha, it's not so serious, but also still have some heartwarming moments. Not too bad, eventhough I'm not sure I can finish it or not haha....

Hahahaha, and here I was thinking you were asking for a watch buddie when you tagged me...if I start it,  hope that means you won't drop it

I wanted to go to Ghibli but forgot the ticketing open day so it's all booked out now.

Oooh were you wanting to go to the new theme park or the old museum? I'm so keen on that theme park but it seems too popular at the moment! :nervous:

@SilverMoonTea Yonghwa was excellent in Heartstrings. Believable, funny, cute, self contained.

Hahaha I loved Yong Hwa in Heartstrings too. That was like the deepest crush I had on him...and then it sorta faded out except for every now and then when he has a project :idk:

I am not sure about fanmeetings...concerts for sure. But somehow I have not been motivated enough to pay for fanmeets....but then again no wants to come to Malaysia :nervous:. These oppas always go to SG, Bangkok and Manila.

This is soooo true! I'm always surprised by the lack of actors that come to Malaysia and do public fan meets or even paid one. It was sad that LJW cancelled his public, shopping centre fan meet in Malaysia, but he ended up doing one in HK as well as a paid fan meet (ie. 2 fan events) :nervous:

But yeah, the closest they seem to get is when they decide to go to Singapore :GengarPout:

@abs-oluteM Wah?! I thought a lot of oppas go to Kuala Lumpur. I think Lee Jae Wook was there recently; although, not sure if he is your oppa.

Nahh, LJW didn't bring his fan meet there. He was the ambassador for tourism between Malaysia and Korea and they changed the event so the only way you could enter was to get in a draw from buying a Malaysia Airlines plane ticket to Seoul. So expensive just to get into a draw! :lettalKWA:

@abs-oluteM No oppas comes here for fanmeetings too. Even with concerts they are far away from me and tickets sell out super fast.

Definitely no fan meets where I am. Kpop concerts are in my city, but it's a shame I'm not into Kpop :mine:

I doubt I will go for any oppa. Fan meets are different from concerts somehow . Plus to go for such events , you need to have company...my RL friends and I have such differing tastes in oppas. Like I don't think any of them know KYK as much as someone like Song Joong Ki or Lee Min Ho.

Hahahaha I most likely will attend all these alone. Don't want to let people see me fangirling. xD

Hahahaha no, I like going by myself so that no one sees me at my worst fangirliest self   Not that I've ever been to a paid Korean fan meet. The Taiwanese ones have always been chill and free (except for my plane ticket there)

. I'd probably go with one of you want me to tag along with you to your oppa's fan meeting.

I will pressure you to go to a Chae Jong Hyeop one when he becomes a big star
