And what she did is just leading them to their own sins. And they all commits to self destruction themselves, cuz that's how they are, trash that cant be recycled. Seriously watching them one by one suffered is really satisfying. This is what revenge should be. It reminds me to another drama with same revenge theme but that was ended so absurd.

I see. The ending is really a tease!! I want to see their revenge orchestracted so elegantly.

Watched ep.9-10, I wished I could binge them all today, but got other stuff to do.

Everything was great, except the interactions between the OTP. We really can do the story without romance, tbh. At least that's what I think up to this point.

Wow, the mother of Dong-eun. Another piece of trash. She is not fit to be called a "mother".

It's just a little so it's okay I think. And I love to see LDH saying those cheesy lines, KES's style. 😄

Feeling heartbroken along with DE that her own mom betrays her until the end. And I am glad she was dumped into the right place.

@ktcjdrama , apologies for the late reply, I guess this is the first time in the revenge drama we see a female protagonist exacting revenge after going through the harshest form of bullying possible. keeping that in mind, it's absolutely appalling to see the levels to which the bullies can go to ruin another person's life. 😅 the intensity keeps rising, as her last hope of justice, whereas there were Dong Eun's revenge.

Spoiler

is she being beaten as a child by her mother? she survived abuse during her childhood and her mother also betrayed her too, later, she sent her to psychiatric clinic which were the first step in mental health treatment stage to enter psychiatric hospital. I think the whole point was that she was using her until the end when the inversion happened.

@Alice Wonderland .. sorry for my late response, I was surprised, just one kiss. some viewers claimed, there were not enough to see Dong Eun and Yeo Jeong hugged. 😅 of course, forgivable since that's their first kiss in like forever though, these poor wounded souls.

Finished.

A revenge drama well done. It is not without flaw, but as far as revenge arc goes, I love it. There are so many comments I want to make, but with binge-watching, it's hard to stop and write down comments, haha... Will try to do it later as I try to recall.

Everything was great, as I have mentioned before. Excellent acting from everyone. Love some of the unexpected twists revealed in ep.16. The only thing I dislike is the casting of LDH as Dong Eun's pairing. I love LDH, but I still strongly think the pairing is off. I cannot get on board at all with the romance. There are so many other actors out there who can make the pairing more believable. Nothing personal against LDH. I watched all his dramas, except for Melancholia.

@ktcjdrama , omo.. :pandawhat:  yes, there are certain characters who end up feeling unnecessarily crammed into an already busy narrative handling so many central characters and subplots. 😅 but, in Yeo Jeong case, he still hurt like in the hell of grief, and he doesn't believe he'll be able to survive it without Dong Eun. they end up together. it's implied that they complete their revenge mission and then move on to pastures new, which one imagines is even more revenge. they'll need another pair of hands for that and I think, this revenge drama ends with maid-detective Hyeon Nam receiving a text whereby telling her that she's once again in need of an assistant.

I'm still in S1 and feel exactly the same. The revenge plot and the narrative drive is really good. It's just that the hints of supposed romance between them doesn't get/work for me. I also like Lee Do-hyun normally but this pairing lacks that kind of chemistry for me. That nervous boyish earnestness doesn't sit right. Besides I don't think romance is necessary in this case. They can just be two people who have a common cause who support each other like Yeom Hye-ran's character.

But don't you think the chemistry between Ha Do-yeoung and Moon Dong-eun is sizzling? 🤣🤣🤣

It's pretty good. I like Jung Sung-il a lot. Since 9.9 Billion Woman.

But I can understand why it's hard for DE and DY to be together when they're in a complicated relationship with Yeon-jin. Although there's a part of me that wishes they could be because she's a better fit for him than Yeon-jin.

I just think that Lee Do-hyun was miscast here. He was a better fit in 18 Again because he was supposed to be a schoolboy. But here I'm struggling to see him as a consultant or specialist. I think someone like Wi Ha-joon or Shin Jae-ha would have been a better fit. The age gap isn't that big a deal for me. It's just that LDH looks really young for this role and he lacks that bad boy quality.

I may change my mind. But at this point, it's not working for me.

hooray you're in Part 1 @40somethingahjumma  .  yeah. in the second half of The Glory's 16 episodes, we see Dong Eun putting more pressure on the group that tortured in high school and caused her to quit when she was a senior. her main target, though, is weather presenter Yeon Jin who was the ringleader of the group. should I feel bad for accidentally sharing spoilers? spoil everything. give away all the endings and, while you're at it, reveal all the beginnings and middles, too. as an audience, we've become far too obsessed with spoilers. sorry..  @40somethingahjumma 🌹 , in the meantime, plastic surgeon Yeo Jeong invites Dong Eun to live with him, even putting up a tent she bought to sleep in. he tries to be romantic with her but Dong Eun isn't the romantic type, given her history. but he definitely thinks he can help her with her revenge plan. don't worry, there are fewer romantic scenes. 😉

Yes, definitely a miscast.

Firstly, they simply have zero chemistry. I don't think it's all due to the age difference - Jang Ki Yong and SHK looked ok together in NWBU and he is only 3 years older than LDH. In the sequel:

Spoiler

I termed the kiss "insipid". Both were like cardboards. The romance journey and the kiss were the most boring I've even seen lol! Even their flirting, when he was jogging and she was in the car - what was that??? But that is also partly down to the lousy dialog.

Secondly, LDH is supposed to be her age or even slightly older in the drama, which is late 30s/40. He doesn't look it. I wonder why they couldn't just cast someone that age rather than try to age a younger actor - is the producer or someone a big fan of LDH 😂

That said, I think LDH does exhibit just a little of the "bad" in part 2. It's subtle but there.

Part 2 could definitely have ended with them together, if only the writer didn't cook up the loveline with LDH 😭🤪

I think Dong Eun should have gone one step further in her revenge - take her husband and her child! Both like her. That would just kill Yeon Jin 🤣

HDY is the type of man DE needs. I think the fic below is on point on how DE/YJ's relationship would be.

'The Glory' part 2 has proven to be a hit with viewers and fans, thanks in part to its unexpected plot twists that have kept audiences on the edge of their seats.

The drama's cast members have also been lauded for their outstanding performances, contributing to the show's popularity and success.

Actress Song Hye Kyo's acting talents have been a highlight of the drama, impressing fans and viewers with her exceptional performances. Her standout performance has been a pleasant surprise and a key factor in the show's success.

On March 14, Netflix Korea posted a video titled, "Thank you, mom, for not changing." The video showed the scene where Song Hye Kyo's character Moon Dong Eun fights with her alcoholic mother, Jung Mi Hee (played by Park Ji Ah).

Jung Mi Hee's complicit with annoying laughing in covering up Moon Dong Eun's bullying incident, accepting money from bully Park Yeon Jin's mother to keep the matter quiet. She then manipulated the situation even further, editing Moon Dong Eun's dropout reason to "unable to adjust."

In the scene revealed in the YouTube video, Moon Dong Eun reveals, "The reason I won't forgive you is because you still don't understand that you were my first perpetrator. So stop laughing." But Jung Mi Hee doesn't care and starts a fire in Moon Dong Eun's apartment.

Jung Mi Hee yells, "Say that you're sorry, beg for forgiveness! Now!" at Moon Dong Eun for chasing out her boyfriend from her apartment. In response, Moon Dong Eun laughs and says, "Thank you, mom. Thanks for not changing, for staying the same. Thank you so much!"

Fans and viewers are picking this as one of the best scenes in the drama and are applauding both Song Hye Kyo and actress Park Ji Ah.

This one I will totally get behind it! 😄 They can totally be written together but I guess it won’t fit the theme anymore. Dong Eun will forever have ties with Yeon Jin since she is the birth mother after all. This must be the reason why HDY pushed the already blinded JJ down. He knew that guy will continue to hunt for the daughter and haunt them with his blood ties.
I admit I was still hoping for an unexpected pairing when Yeo Jeong said he is worried hearing the news that HDY is single again 😄

Anyway, that part when the apartment was burning, I actually thought

Spoiler

DE was going to flip her mother into the fire 😆 I guess the writer is consistent with keeping DE’s hands “clean” from murder.

Putting the above in spoiler since @40somethingahjumma has not watched S2 yet. I don’t even know if we should call it S2 or not. Because Netflix just continues to label it as ep.9-16. I hope they stop with this separating drama broadcast with weeks in between. I haven’t even started on some of my S2. Like not that motivated because I need to review a bit where we left off.

alright @ktcjdrama  💐 , it's official: part two (according to Netflix itself) not season 2 because Netflix is revealing this revenge drama in two parts (8 episodes in each part), with the 2nd part being released in March. part 1 ended when the protagonist began her revenge against her school bullies, which she planned for around ten years. :pandablind:I've heard some viewers are advising others not to watch it due to 'The Glory' was split into two parts. the audience (me too) 😉 who have become fully immersed in the story became more anxious due to the cliffhanger of part 1. somehow, Netflix decided to release this revenge drama in separate parts to prevent subscribers from unsubscribing.

Netflix's latest blood vengeance revenge drama series "The Glory" became the most popular show globally on Monday, just three days after the release of the first season's remaining episodes on Friday.

According to a Netflix ranking tracker website FlixPatrol, the show ranked No. 1 in 38 countries on Monday, including Korea, Asean countries, Brazil, Mexico and more, and No. 3 in the United States and the United Kingdom, making it the overall No. 1 show globally.

Netflix app usage in Korea also hit an all-time high following the release, according to the data analysis company WiseApp and Wise Retail, with the app's active users reaching 4.88 million users on March 10, the day of the release, and 5.32 million users on March 11, a 61 percent increase from the 3.31 million users recorded on March 9.

The director of the show, Ahn Gil Ho, has been at the center of controversy since last Friday after being accused of having been a bully during his school days. Ahn admitted to the allegations and apologized through his attorneys on Sunday.

A really well-written and well-plotted revenge story all around with great performances all round especially from the villains of the story. Song Hye-kyo was good but the lass who plays Yeon-jin was definitely chewing up the scenery. Her facial expressions were multifaceted. All the best K female actresses are the ones who tend to be cast as baddies or antiheroes.

Having now completed the whole thing, I think narratively the romance made sense BUT... I still think that Lee Do-hyun, who is an immensely likeable actor, was miscast. He's too young for that role and exudes far too much of a sibling vibe for me to root for their romance. As a fellow traveller and a comrade-in-arms, I'm on board with their dynamic. But as anything else...  I couldn't get on board.

It seems so rare these days to see K dramas do a decent wrap of a drama that this one feels unusually outstanding. This should be the norm not the exception. Everything ends nicely. (Maybe a little too neatly in parts) And everyone gets their just desserts.
