2022.02.15 New Stills - Yoon Ji On

MBC’s upcoming drama “Tomorrow” has shared a sneak peek of Yoon Ji On in character!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Tomorrow” will tell the story of Choi Joon Woong (played by SF9‘s Rowoon), who gets into an unfortunate accident while struggling to find a job. As a result, he crosses paths with grim reapers Goo Ryun (Kim Hee Sun) and Lim Ryoong Goo (Yoon Ji On), who work together to save the lives of those who are contemplating suicide, and he winds up joining their team in the underworld as their youngest member.

Lim Ryoong Goo is a humorous and energetic grim reaper who always makes sure to clock out of work after exactly eight hours, keeping his work-life balance perfect. He is an ideologist who resolves the messy incidents that Goo Ryun and Choi Joon Woong create.

The newly released stills capture Lim Ryoong Goo’s eccentric charms. In the photos, he draws attention with his hip hairstyle and trendy outfit. Wearing a denim shirt with a brown collar, a leather jacket, and a chain necklace, Lim Ryoong Goo exudes chicness that is rare to see in a grim reaper.

Lim Ryoong Goo is also spotted wearing a poker face. His gaze is shining with firmness, and he is slightly frowning. However, he doesn’t particularly show any clear emotions. Despite fiercely exhaling as if he has lost his breath, he remains cool and calm. As a result, viewers are eagerly anticipating Yoon Ji On’s transformation into Lim Ryoong Goo as well as his chemistry with Kim Hee Sun and Rowoon.

The producers of “Tomorrow” remarked, “Yoon Ji On is portraying the character Lim Ryoong Goo in a more lively and individualistic way with his hot passion and constant efforts. Moreover, he joined hands with Kim Hee Sun and Rowoon to boast the best teamwork. Please look forward to ‘Tomorrow,’ which will lead to the rediscovery of actor Yoon Ji On.”

“Tomorrow” will premiere in March 2022, following the conclusion of “Tracer.” Check out a highlight clip for the drama here!

2022.02.16 Kim Hee Sun, SF9’s Rowoon, And Yoon Ji On Get Tangled Up In A Sticky Situation In “Tomorrow”

MBC has released new stills from its upcoming drama “Tomorrow”!

“Tomorrow” is based on a webtoon of the same name and tells the story of Choi Joon Woong (SF9’s Rowoon), who gets into an unfortunate accident while struggling to find a job. As a result, he crosses paths with grim reapers Goo Ryun (Kim Hee Sun) and Lim Ryoong Goo (Yoon Ji On), who work together to save the lives of those who are contemplating suicide, and he winds up joining their team in the underworld as their youngest member.

The newly released stills depicts Choi Joon Woong meeting Goo Ryun and Lim Ryoong Goo for the first time. This is an important moment because it will be the beginning of the contract between Choi Joon Woong and the grim reapers. In one photo, Choi Joon Woong is desperately holding onto a homeless man who is gripping onto the railing of a bridge. In particular, Choi Joon Woong’s eyes grow wide with shock and confusion as he stares at Goo Ryun and Lim Ryoong Goo.

On the other hand, Goo Ryun shoots Choi Joon Woong a cold glare, piquing curiosity about why she’s so angry. At the same time, her overwhelming charisma adds tension to the surroundings. Choi Joon Woong sinks onto the ground, but he can’t take his eyes off of Goo Ryun. Meanwhile, Lim Ryoong Goo, who is next to Choi Joon Woong, calmly watches the scene unfold as if he’s used to the situation.

The drama’s production team shared, “This scene was important because it was the first meeting of Choi Joon Woong, Goo Ryun, and Lim Ryoong Goo, and due to the nature of the scene, we had to film on the bridge overnight. It was a scene where the staff responded with applause because of the charisma and solid acting skills of the actors who created a wonderful moment without losing concentration despite the freezing winter winds. Please look forward to [this part].”

2022.02.23 Kim Hee Sun Talks About Playing A Cold Grim Reaper In Upcoming Fantasy Drama “Tomorrow”

kim-hee-sun-11.jpeg

Ahead of the upcoming premiere, Kim Hee Sun spoke about her role in the new fantasy drama “Tomorrow.”

Kim Hee Sun plays the powerful grim reaper Goo Ryun, who is the Crisis Management Team leader at the spirit management headquarters of the afterlife monopoly called Joomadeung (phantasmagoria). Her role is to save the lives of people contemplating suicide.

When asked why she chose the drama, she answered, “I wanted to do a drama that comforts everyone. Rather than delivering a great message, I hope that ‘Tomorrow’ will be a drama that will cheer you up, as if through its existence it’s saying ‘I’m there for you.'”

She described her character as a ‘tsundere,’ a character who appears cold on the outside but is warm on the inside. She explained, “She speaks straightforwardly and strongly to those who have given up on their lives so they can stand and be enlightened, but there is love and affection within that. Ryun’s heart knows to be considerate of others and that’s cool.” When asked if she shares any similarities with her character, she said, “We’re similar in that we both take care of people well, but we’re different in that unlike me, who likes socializing with people, she doesn’t keep anyone close to her.”

When the first images for the drama were released, Kim Hee Sun received a lot of attention for her short hair that was dyed pink. She explained that her transformation was in order to match the character from the webtoon, saying, “After seeing the original webtoon, I tried to match my external appearance with hers. I think it’s the best way to get closer to the character and the project. It’s my first time in 20 years that I dyed my hair and got a bobbed haircut. In order to maintain the pink color, I wash my hair once every 2-3 days with coating shampoo.”

Kim Hee Sun also talked about meeting Rowoon, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Yoon Ji On during the filming process. She said, “I met them for the first time in this project, and we became really close. Rowoon is a really kind, hard-working, and sincere friend. Yoon Ji On is cute and kind, and I’m grateful that he always follows along with me well. Lee Soo Hyuk is so cool that seeing him makes me think, ‘This is why he’s a top model.’ In particular, when he says a line in his low voice, my attention is drawn to it.”

She ended by saying about her character, “Ryun is a grim reaper that saves people. She is a completely different grim reaper than what you have seen before. I hope that you will cheer on and watch Ryun, ‘maverick of the grim reapers,’ save people together with Joomadeung‘s Crisis Management Team and Ryunggu.”

“Tomorrow” will premiere in March following the conclusion of “Tracer.” Watch a teaser for the drama here!

2022.02.25 SF9’s Rowoon Talks About His New Fantasy Drama “Tomorrow” + Why It Holds Special Meaning For Him

SF9’s Rowoon has shared his thoughts on his upcoming MBC drama “Tomorrow”!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “Tomorrow” will tell the story of Choi Joon Woong (played by SF9’s Rowoon), who gets into an unfortunate accident while struggling to find a job. As a result, he crosses paths with grim reapers Goo Ryun (Kim Hee Sun) and Lim Ryoong Goo (Yoon Ji On), who work together to save the lives of those who are contemplating suicide, and he winds up joining their team in the underworld as their youngest member.

Explaining why he chose the drama for his next project, Rowoon commented, “I liked the message that the drama gives.”

When asked if he felt any pressure about living up to the success of his previous drama “The King’s Affection,” Rowoon replied, “I don’t feel any pressure about results at all. Because viewership ratings are something determined by the heavens [outside of our control].”

He went on to reveal that the reason he had been so drawn to “Tomorrow” was because he wanted to fully absorb the message of the story while acting in it. “I feel like if I focus on the message of the drama, that meaningful message will also remain with me,” he said, “so I try to focus more on the essence of the story than results. In that respect, I think ‘Tomorrow’ will be a drama that gives me comfort as well.”

Describing his character in the drama, Rowoon remarked, “Joon Woong is an ordinary character, but he has many sentimental aspects. There are times when an incident arises because of that, but the character’s appeal is that even though he’s still immature and clumsy, he has a warm heart.”

As for how similar he considers the character to his real-life personality, Rowoon shared, “In order to fully melt into the character and show a good acting performance, I’m currently acting while thinking that our level of similarity is 0 percent.”

The idol-turned-actor also revealed that because of the fun and relaxed atmosphere on the filming set, the cast often came up with amusing ad libs on the spot.

“The director and writer told me that they’d like it if there were witty and fun elements to my portrayal of the character Choi Joon Woong,” he explained. “Because the atmosphere on set is so great, there are times when dialogue or situations that weren’t in the script naturally come about. I hope you’ll look forward to it.”

When asked to rate his chemistry with the actors who play his fellow team members in the drama—Kim Hee Sun and Yoon Ji On—Rowoon replied, “I’d give the Crisis Management Team’s chemistry 95 points [out of 100].”

He went on to elaborate, “To be honest, I personally think it should be 100 points, but I’ll leave the remaining five points up to viewers to decide after watching.”

The SF9 member also expressed his gratitude to Llama, the writer of the original webtoon, who has been actively cheering on the cast and crew of the drama adaptation. “I did feel some pressure about the fact that it’s an adaptation of an original work, but I’m grateful that [the original webtoon writer] is looking kindly on our drama,” he shared. “I’m honored to be part of a production that has such a great message.”

Finally, Rowoon concluded by remarking, “I believe that if you watch the drama, you’ll be able to sense that I had a lot of fun and enjoyed filming. Please give ‘Tomorrow’ lots of interest.”

“Tomorrow” will premiere on March 25 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Check out a highlight clip for the drama here!

2022.03.02 New Character Posters

New character posters from the upcoming drama “Tomorrow” have been released!

Kim Hee Sun plays the powerful grim reaper Goo Ryun, who is the Crisis Management Team leader at the spirit management headquarters of the afterlife monopoly called Joomadeung (phantasmagoria). Rowoon accompanies her as Choi Joon Woong, a new contract employee on the Crisis Management Team. Lee Soo Hyuk stars as Park Joong Gil, the elite leader of the Guiding Management Team, while Yoon Ji On plays Lim Ryoong Goo, a humorous and energetic grim reaper who always makes sure to clock out of work after exactly eight hours, keeping his work-life balance perfect.

The posters preview the main characters with a phrase describing a part of the character’s personality at the top. First is Goo Ryun. She looks directly into the camera with her hands in her pocket. Her flashy clothes add to her sharp appearance and display her determination to get things done. The text on her poster reads, “I’m a grim reaper who saves people,” pointing to her role as one who aids people in crisis.

The next poster shows Choi Joon Woong looking well put together in a suit. His posture is a little more relaxed as he slightly leans his head to the right. Choi Joon Woong displays an approachable and friendly demeanor as he looks eagerly ahead. Above his head, the text reads, “Thank you. For enduring…and not giving up.” These words along with his overall kind appearance seem to imply that he comforts people who are in distress and in the face of death yet ultimately choose to live.

On the other hand, Park Joong Gil exudes coldness as he turns away and looks to his side. His meticulous appearance, adorned with leather gloves and a neat looking suit, creates a tense vibe. In addition, the text next to him reads, “I don’t understand why we need the Crisis Management Team,” adding to the tension and conflict that takes place between his Guiding Management Team and Goo Ryun’s Crisis Management Team.

Finally, Lim Ryoong Goo embodies a more indifferent attitude, wearing a leather jacket on top of a gray hoodie with his hands in his pocket. Despite this, his eyes look determined as he focuses his attention forward. The text on the poster adds to this, reading, “We’re going to be punished anyway, so let’s at least make good results.” This points to his sincerity and devotion to performing his duties well.

The first episode of “Tomorrow” will premiere on March 25 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Watch a teaser for the drama here!

Lee Soo Hyuk Discusses Reason For Choosing “Tomorrow” As His Next Project, His Admiration For Kim Hee Sun, And More

lee-soo-hyuk-1.jpg

Ahead of the upcoming premiere, Lee Soo Hyuk spoke about his role in the new fantasy drama “Tomorrow.”

Lee Soo Hyuk will star in the drama as Park Joong Gil, the elite leader of the Guiding Management Team at the spirit management headquarters of the afterlife monopoly called Joomadeung (phantasmagoria).

When asked why he chose the drama, he answered, “I enjoyed watching the directors’ productions, and I liked the story and message of the original webtoon. While discussing with the directors, I noticed aspects of Park Joong Gil from the webtoon that I could express in a new way, so I found [the drama] more interesting.”

When the first photos of Lee Soo Hyuk’s transformation into Park Joong Gil were released, there were lots of favorable responses. The actor commented, “I’m aiming for 100 percent synchronization. I’m thankful for the positive responses after the photos were released, but at the same time, I feel the responsibility. I hope that the positive responses will continue even after the drama is released. Through the grim reaper Park Joong Gil, who has cold and dark traits, I think I can effectively show viewers my charms and image.”

Then Lee Soo Hyuk talked about the efforts he made to look more like Park Joong Gil. He said, “Since I played a lot of roles in wearing suits, I brainstormed ways to look a little different. As a result, I couldn’t leave out elements such as dark circles, which are the trademark of Park Joong Gil in the webtoon. I am creating my character by discussing details with the directors, writer, stylist, and makeup artist.”

The actor continued, “Since the webtoon itself is such a popular work, I’m focusing on effectively implementing its content. In particular, Park Joong Gil is someone who has conflict with the Crisis Management Team, so I’m trying to act restrainedly to maintain his tension. While turning [the webtoon] into a drama, the character’s personality and circumstances have changed. I hope that viewers will be able to keep an eye on the new things the directors, writer, and I are making.”

Lee Soo Hyuk shared his admiration for Kim Hee Sun, saying, “All the actors are great. Thanks to them, I’m having fun filming. In particular, Kim Hee Sun creates an atmosphere where all the members of the cast and crew, including me, can film in good spirits. I’m learning a lot from her.”

He ended by saying, “‘Tomorrow’ is a drama that delivers a very important message. Many actors and staff are working hard to convey that message. I hope the viewers can feel and sympathize with it. I used to tell my fans that I would work like a cow, and I’m doing my best to show them a good performance in this project as well. Please wait a little longer.”

The first episode of “Tomorrow” will premiere on March 25 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Watch a teaser for the drama here!
