Joon Woong, in this episode, is too precious. He is definitely the maknae of the group -- full of energy and complaints.

This episode had me in tears. I will be back to add more later because I unexpectedly cried more than I thought I would at the ending. :letalQQ:

Episode 6

By far my favourite story out of the four shown thus far. As expected, this episode is a cry fest... I was crying 10-15 minutes into it already. What can I say, dying/sick haraboji is one of my archilles 😭. And for once, both Park Joong Gil and Gu Ryeon are able to stay in a space together on the same side and peacefully with no antagonism! All for showing their utmost respect for a dying old man.

I've actually reached the episodes in China Special Forces where Yan Po Yue had to deal with PTSD from killing 3 people. War soldiers back then would have had it even tough because there was no welfare or specialist around to assist them with their trauma. It is even more upsetting that these hard fought peace is being forgotten by greedy men in politics as they continue to instigate wars across the world so they could reap benefits from it.

Joon Woong is the sweetest darling, giant softie crybaby teddy bear all the way. 😅 I feel like he's the representative of me/us. The Jade Emperor and Grim Reapers have become accustomed to life and death as they have experienced it a trillion times that they have somewhat become numb, but not Joon Woong. He asks questions I'd like to know too, curious about the life of Haraboji as I am with my grandparents who survived the WWII and no longer around for me to ask.

There were so many scenes that trigger the tear ducts, down to Joong Gil's line showing us he was there, too, at the battlefield. It made it more meaningful given his background as a military officer himself when he was human. Joong Gil paying his respect by having all his teams sending Haraboji off was so impactful on an emotional level and I want to praise that the BGM took it up a notch.

I honestly hope 6 months later when Joon Woong returns to his body he could carry all these precious memories and experiences with him. It can only be this way, as it's part of his character development and it'd be too sad no one remembers the Grim Reapers and the people he interacted with and saved. I also hope the encounters as a ban ban Grim Reaper become the red string of fate, tying him with these people in his human life.

It was hard episode 5 didn't have any light, funny scenes, not even the epilogue to lighten the mood at the end, so I was quite happy to have a bit of comedic scene from Joon Woong albeit is him complaining and asking for power, LOL!

Tomorrow's rating plunged to 2.5% this episode although other competing dramas also suffer a drop. The ratings doesn't reflect the quality of this episode but I suppose the themes and topics are really heavy on the hearts and weekend is supposed to be for resting.

---

Have to complain a bit, I notice all the TV channels air shows that are so blues or heavy all at the same time. Our Blues, The Liberation Notes and Tomorrow are heavy themes airing on the weekend. Then weekdays there's The King of Pigs. It would have been nice that they jumble it up a little.

Mine too! I never got the chance to meet my grandfathers because they passed away when I was young (one passed away before I was born) so these types of stories make me emotional.

Joong Gil showing up to escort Haraboji to the afterlife was what started it all for me -- my tears. It didn't help that it showed Joong Gil was there with Haraboji at the battlefield too. I really liked the conversation Joong Gil had with Gu Ryeon. I wasn't expecting to see this side of Joong Gil and was rather surprised by his words of comfort. I hope to see more of these surprising moments from him in future episodes.

It would go against the rules of both worlds if he continued working with them after waking up so, at least, it would be nice for him to still retain his memories. Joon Woong, even in such a short amount of time, has learned so much. I also agreed that Joon Woong, in some ways, represent us. He ask the questions we want to ask, feel the same emotions we're feeling, and more.

Hahaha! Only Joon Woong would come up with something like this -- so precious, this kid.

@mademoiselle They are both getting older and pretty soon, they will be leading dramas and not acting as the younger version of the main characters.

I low-key would like to see Joong Gil and Gu Ryeon talk about their past. They are still pretty drawn to each other but you can feel a bit of resentment.

@Tofu Do you think they recognise one another? It didn't seem like they do... :pandathink:

By the way, too busy crying and being emotional... in this episode it seems like Joon Woong is being seen as someone in his 20s by Haraboji instead of a 40s ahjussi his friend saw him as. A bit of a loophole there if Ryung Gu recovered his face, isn't it?

Amazing how much they have grown sometimes. Soon Kang Hoon will be leading his own dramas too (we're getting soooo old, Tofu).

He doesn't have to work for the Jumadeung. Jade Emperor promised he'll be able to find a human job once he worked for them for 6 months. I'm only hoping he could retain these memories and experiences as it is precious and crucial to his growth. I want him to remember how he gained this wisdom so that when he decides on something in his human life, it's not just an "Oh, I just feel it this way" but not knowing why. Also I think it'd be kind of nice that he would have a re-encounter with all the cases he's helped when he's back as humans. Something nice like that to wrap up the drama in the finale .

I want to rewatch some scenes that you've mentioned but I'm still too emotional to do it. My eyes are tired from all the crying. Hahaha.

@Tofu Look what I've found :lmao2:

@mademoiselle Someone commented and said in the webtoon Gu Ryeon committed suicide because her son died! :shocked2:

I want to read the webtoon but I'm kind of scared. I was not exactly thrilled with BP's adaptation of the webtoon it was based off. I'm worried if I read the webtoon for Tomorrow, I might get frustrated like I did with BP. :nervous:

I think so? But I'm not exactly sure either. There's been lots of flashbacks, but I guess they haven't really been enough to suggest that they knew each other's past life.

I know, he will! I can see him leading a youth drama soon and then after that, one of the main channels' prime dramas.

We are getting old, but we are still young at heart! Two weeks ago, the guy at the Apple store thought I was in my early 20s so yay for all the face masks! LOL!

Agreed, I want him to know where his learned it. Maybe at the end of this, he will suddenly start seeing ghosts and still be able to help them. :lmao2:

Don't read it yet but I think it's not entirely the same in the webtoon because the comments from weibo mentioned there was no loveline between Gu Ryeon and Park Joong Gil in there. Also I think that twitter thread mentioned the English translation is slow, it'll take a few more years for the webtoon to be fully translated for the rest of the chapters.

Hahahaha it's Asian genes  which I'm proud of. I've also been telling people here (who loves sun) to stop going under the sun and cook themselves purposely. That's the fastest way to age your skin.

Hahaha I wouldn't want that. He'd be too disturbed to be able to lead a normal life. I'd just be happy he's somewhat connected to the people he saved... like they cross each other paths somehow; for example, Kang Woo Jin was recognised for his music and the broadcast station writer does an interview with him. Joon Woong's friend finally got in the police academy. And we'll see how else they can all interconnected when we've more cases.

I"m not sure how I felt about the plot with the young lovers (The Tree), since I felt that it was more that it seemed to reflect GR's story of her earthly life. It feels as if she married the young man who painted red rouge on her eyelids (probably why she continues to wear pink eyeshadow, I think?), but that he perhaps died in a battle. She may have killed herself in despair afterwards which led to their red thread been cut.

I cried in episode 6 (The Soul is the Star) though. It was so sad that old soldier was so brave and was able to inspire the younger soldiers, and yet he went on to have such a sad life, all alone. This plot seems to be a reflection on how poorly veterans may be treated in SK (and elsewhere). The veterans sacrificed so much for their homeland, but their efforts are not recognized for long. The veteran was clearly suffering from PTSD, though in his day and age, that wasn't something that was commonly understood and definitely not treated.

It seems a bit out of character to send the Crisis Management Team to the veteran when he only has 1 more day to live, but the Jade Empress seemed to explain that there was no one else who could be sent in to handle that situation.

I'm becoming more and more curious about Joon Gil, so hopefully, they will start elaborating on his character and back story further. I wonder if he might actually have been GR's earthly husband.

Kim Hee Sun is amazing in this drama, btw.

@mademoiselle Finally! The BTS videos without them blocked! I was beginning to think we would never get to see them in full. I have no idea how actors can do scenes with them running in dress shoes. I've had to run before in my loafers and it was not comfortable.

Yay, for a new episode tomorrow! I have the day off so I can actually watch this after it's uploaded to Netflix.

@stroppyse I don't remember seeing much of him after Father is Strange, but he was in the drama, Chocolate (although, I didn't finish it).

He was the secretary in Memories of the Alhambra and was in the sageuk with Taecyeon and Kim Hye Yoon.

It's not all BTS though. No E1-3 uploaded and yesterday they released another one for E5-6. And The Swoon is not making an effort to promote the drama too so very likely they won't translate the BTS like they did for other dramas.
