Bossam: Steal the Fate 보쌈 - 운명을 훔치다 [2021]

King in his room, thinking back to what SK's mother told him, that Hwa-In is dead because of him. He is no longer his husband and no longer SK's father. 

At LYC's place. SK is talking back to LYC. He again used the safety of King and Queen to threaten SK to obey. SK is taken out and Lee told DY that he cannot run away from his fate of being a king. Outside, WY told DC to take SK away. As he was leading SK away, he asked SK to believe in DY and wait. Later, DC went to see BW and told him he has a message from DY.

 

BW went to see his Aunt, to get approval for a rebellion, I think? She finally gave a letter to BW which he took to KJJ, with a condition, that they guarantee the lives of King Queen and Princess Hwa In. 

 

DY and his mother talking. Didn't manage to catch what they said. But mother said that no matter what, promise me you won't die. That you will live. DY went out but as he closes the door, he paused and thought for a long time. Inside, his mother's tears streaming down. Then DY went to see his father and said he will do it but with a condition, regarding the princess. I don't understand what exactly. When DY went out, WY mentioned something, and Lee gave him instructions. Then we have the scenes we see in preview. DY leading a group of people and SK in the palanquin. LYC is there and DC as well. WY is at another place, with another group of men, growing agitated. With DY's group, he told them to stop, then he talked to SK. LYC asked him what's going on. I didn't understand, but thankfully DC is on DY's side. O, I think they're resting. DC asked LYC to come down the horse and rest. The moment he came down, BW and his men arrived. DY pretended to give orders to protect LYC, but he said don't worry about me, get him. DY also pretended to attack BW. DC told LYC that don't worry he will make sure that princess is safe. Anyway, DC took princess to another place, making LYC who realised it belatedly yelled out his name. DY, DC, CB and King's Main Guard, BW and SK met, then later went on their separate ways. SK gets to say a heartfelt thank you and good-bye to DY. DC went back to protect his mother, I think. DY walked back, and LYC is with two men. DY told the men to get lost if they want to live. So it's just DY and Lee now. He put a sword to Lee's neck. He said that my father's killer is you. He is ready to kill Lee, but he can't bring himself to give the final blow. O gosh, and of course Lee picked up the sword DY threw on the ground and stabbed him from the back. It's a sure death blow. Lee is walking away when DY called out to him father, was there once he think of him as son. Lee walking away dazedly, and DY called out Father, answer me. At another place, BW told SK that he is not feeling good about DY and wants to go back and check. At first he wanted to go alone, but SK said go together. They found DY on his knees... Sigh.... Argh... this death is really so unnecessary to be written in this story!! BW and SK wailed for DY's death.

At his home, Lee is looking at his hands, WY saying something about DY and Lee scolded him. Next, WY took some men to raid BW's aunt house. Cut to gisaeng house. CB and Jo walking, and all the gisaengs saying friendly hi to CB, and Jo is getting jealous while CB said it's a misunderstanding. He took Jo to see SK. In the room, SK told BW that the only way to take down LYC is to join hands with the West and fight him. She mentioned about for the sake of the people. Basically she is giving him assurance to go ahead. BW thanked her for understanding and he promised that he will protect the King and Queen. Before he leaves, he also gave him assurance, then they hugged, again... lol... BW went out where he found CB and Jo eavesdropping. He asked CB about Cha Dol and mother sister, asked Jo to accompany SK Then he went to see them in another room. Cute Cha Dol told BW don't worry, he will protect grandma and aunt, just go and quickly come back. 

 

In her room, SK and Jo talking. Jo was crying, I didn't catch what they're talking about, is it about DY? SK mentioned CB's name as well. Somehow the discussion got serious. SK is making a formal bow to Jo, I don't know what for? They're both crying when SK thanked Jo for all she has done for her, and apologised for all the hardships Jo has to endure because of her. They're crying... why?? 

 

BW and KJJ talking. BW asked KJJ when and KJJ gave a date. KJJ also mentioned about Court Lady Kim, something about capturing her? Sorry not too sure about this. Cut to morning, King watching some dance (as in preview) accompanied by Court Lady Kim. Main guard announced the arrival of a minister. That minister said something about rebellion and asked the King to quickly do something. King gave instructions and he left. King told Kim to talk to KJJ and BW. KJJ explained and asked her to trust him, that it is not a rebellion. Kim turned to BW and asked if she should believe what KJJ said. BW hesitated which was noted by Kim and he replied yes. Cut to the three of them in King's audience. Kim assured King that it's not rebellion, BW also gave the word that it's not. The minister earlier came and insisted it is rebellion. Anyway, King dismissed them all, leaving BW only. They went out to the gazebo again. King asked BW about Hwa In. King is pouring his heart out, about no one to believe, no one beside him, everyone blaming him. Then he mentioned LYC's name. Sorry not understanding the convo much here, but King poured wine for BW as SK's father and him as the son-in-law. He told BW to take care of Hwa In but he corrected himself to protect SK. It's not a king's order, but a sincere request from a father. BW gave a formal bow to King. Both are teary.

BW tried to sneak into a place. Inside WY is beating up a person. I don't recognise who. BW came to help, by knocking out WY. Main guard came, the guy left. BW and main guard have a talk. Not too sure, quite a serious one, I think that no matter what main guard will stand by the King. Anyway, he told BW to be careful and take care of himself tonight, and BW said same goes to you. 

 

Lee and his wife in their room. Someone came in to pass a letter to him, and he was confused. Cut to BW and WY who is begging for forgiveness and please spare his life. BW hit him for someone's sake, and he just cried. Evening came, the Western faction leading some soldiers, as seen in preview. Some fights going on. Some soldiers holding the door shut, but BW came and told them to leave if they want to keep their lives. BW opened the door for the other soldiers to rush in. KJJ asked BW to come along, but BW wants to go catch LYC. King and Kim still at gazebo when they heard the commotion. Main guard came to tell them it's the rebellion, and King just calmly asked if it's LYC to which he answered no. King just let it be, while Kim went running to her room, trying to save some jewellery. KJJ came to catch her, and she was angry. Meanwhile, main guard begged the King to leave with him. He didn't want to at first. But later we see him in ordinary clothes following main guard who led him somewhere. Inside, BW and SK waiting for him. BW left to let them talk. We also see Jo and CB helping Queen to escape in ordinary clothes. Queen still worry about King.

 

KJJ didn't keep his end of the deal. He came to get the King, but main guard is outside and he fought all the men that KJJ brought. This is not looking good. I think he might sacrificed his life too... yup, he was shot. No.... why do the good people have to die. More fightings, BW leading some men to Lee's place. Inside, Lee sitting waiting calmly for BW. BW sat down and they talked as if nothing is happening outside. Lee actually asked BW what did he do with DY's body. BW told him, and Lee said thank you with tears. Then BW left. 

 

How many minutes left now? and we're still in the palace politics?

King in ordinary clothes, being led away while KJJ's voice in the background reciting some decrees. BW's aunt is seated as the Queen? She then gave the King's seal to the leader of the Western factions. I didn't get his name. It's the person who led the meeting in previous episode, that BW refused to join in.

 

The ceremony is done and BW walking away. KJJ came and asked him something that BW evaded answering. KJJ gave some stern warning. Cut Monk and SK and her mother. SK is asking Monk to do something, and Monk said there's no turning back if you decided to do this. Will you regret it? What is she trying to do?? Her mother is crying. Cut to SK praying, then she broke down into crying in the middle of it. What... she's going to be a nun???? The monk is ready to cut her hair!!! but good thing he stopped. He said to wait for a moment for certain reason. He left the room and SK has a tear falling out. Someone came in, it's BW, with a mask. Cha Dol was there too and rushing him. He bossamed her again. LOL... A little monk tried to tell the adults, but they all just hushed him while smiling. There was the Monk, SK's mother, CB and Jo. 

 

Cut to beach side. BW picked up the red shoe and put it back on SK, then they walked hand-in-hand under the sunset...

So look like KJJ is supporting the former Queen Dowager right...and I think BW and KJJ are working together right? Anyway , they escorted the King out . And I think his nephew will take the throne.

 

KJJ made some announcements to the ministers in the presence of the old Queen , the prince nephew and BW. But BW and KJJ later had a private word, and didn't seem pleasant.

 

SK and her mum are safely in the palace. SK now praying ...why are they all dressed in white as if mourning...and SK is sobbing so hard. The cost of all this is too great...omg has she decided to become a nun ....what ....eh what the heck the monk is cutting her hair ...but he stopped and said to think for a bit. 

 

Omg ....BW comes in and she turns around...he is dressed with like a thief....my heart almost stop. So she didn't have to be a nun....so they reunited ...they are now at the beach. Dressed so nicely. Kiss for goodness sake. He takes her shoes and wears it for her. Then tells her let's go. It was a beautiful scene as they walk into the sunset. 

 

Happy ending ! ( no kiss though....waste all the chemistry - minus 10 points for you MBN!!!)

@ktcjdrama I want more of the OTP and happy family......so rushed ler ....urghh. But thanks so much for always recapping for us. Cannot believe this drama has ended

Well, it's a happy ending, I shouldn't complain, but but but.... only like a couple minutes of happy OTP time? and without Cha Dol too?? Mixed feeling really.... I think they rushed the wrap-up. They could've deleted some of those political stuff and give a few more minutes for the OTP arc. I want to cry.....  

And yes, not a single kiss!! They could still have inserted a forehead kiss at the sunset scene!!! Whyyyyyy?? I am sour.

Oh, ah okay... So is it the end? Why does it feels like it's not over until it's over.... Haha... What could I say? Daebak! *Claps hands proudly. I think this is my first time watching a romance drama without a single kissing scene from the main leads. Was it the writer? The director? Or the actors? Were they in a relationship at the moment that there's a no kissing rule? Still it's sooo pretty. I shouldn't complain. Thanks for the wonderful ride. Gonna miss them.

Haha... I'm actually that frustrated but what can I do. I had imagine that this drama would have an ending such Doom at your service as it has 20 ep, you know they have a calm phase towards the ending, like sorting things out and showing us that they are truly happy with their daily life before it's finally the end. In the end it's for 15 year old viewers, shouldn't expect too much. Is a kiss too much though? Sighs. I won't get to sleep if I couldn't let go of the kiss thing

Come let's speculate why BW had to go so far back to fetch one of SK's shoes??  (see picture below)

 

My thought is that he was princess-carrying her in his arms and dancing and dancing in circles when SK suddenly tapped him furiously and said, "stop, stop... my shoe, my shoe dropped". So he set her down and told her, "stay here, I will get it for you." He ran back and fetch the shoe.

I find this so true but so funny at the same time. It’s interesting how society has priorities upside down because of social expectations of what is to appear in the public sphere and what is not. 

 

As for why there were no kisses, I wonder if it’s in keeping with the dignified nature of Soo Kyung’s character that they wanted to maintain. Have the knetz asked the same thing too? Hahahaha…

The skinship we have was the blowing of the hands and hand-cupping-cheek to keep warm... sigh... A gentle peck on forehead should still be in line with SK’s dignified nature? Sigh, I am still not over the sans kiss aspect of this drama 😔
