Episode 9 was wonderful! There's character development for both along the way. And I think at some point, Deok Im will eventually have feelings for San. It's just that it won't be in the same manner San wants to get from her.

Spoiler

Deok Im's love language is definitely in the form of protecting someone. In this case, it's San

What I like about this drama so far is that the romance between two people is expressed in a subtle manner even though their age is quite young

“The Red Sleeve” star Lee Se Young: Getting a breakout role after 24 years of acting

2f2ce08d6b54059cead9694da694ab9f49b02fb6

Thanks to the success of The Red Sleeve, Lee Se Young got her big break.

The Red Sleeve, although not featuring a star-studded cast, is receiving countless compliments for its engrossing storyline. The viewership rating has also exceeded 10%. In the drama, Lee Se Young steals the viewers’ hearts with her portrayal of the female lead character. She showcases convincing acting skills and lovely visuals.

Spoiler

145e6618c662b11e83010c1dd9b2b69197eeea75

Lee Se Young was born in 1992 and has been a familiar face with the audience of Korean TV because of her lengthy acting career. How she came across acting is an interesting story. Lee Se Young‘s mother wanted her daughter to become an actress so the public could remember her face, as she believed that could prevent bad things from happening to her, like being abducted. In 1997, when Lee Se Young was only 5 years old, she made her debut as a child actress in a TV show.
With a pretty and adorable face, Lee Se Young fulfilled her mother’s wish and successfully drew attention from the audience. Lee Se Young’s biggest role during the early days of her career was a part in the hit “Dae Jang Geum“. In the drama, she portrayed the young self of the second female lead Choi Geum Young and flawlessly boasted her natural acting ability despite her young age, leaving a deep impression on many viewers.
fa48b68e6a904b9443f6aed112713fc2d76d75d7
Continuously taking on new roles from the age of 5 to 16, Lee Se Young then decided to take a break from acting for 3 years to focus on her studies. In 2011, she returned to the entertainment industry and resumed her acting career as an adult actress. However, Lee Se Young faced fierce competition when the industry already had plenty of outstanding and promising young names. Therefore, Lee Se Young almost had to start over again with small and supporting roles in productions with small impact.
Regarding seniority, the majority of Lee Se Young’s young co-stars actually debuted later than her, but her popularity is unfortunately not on the same level as some of them. Lee Se Young was often seen taking on supporting roles for a while. It was not until A Korean Odyssey in 2017 that the actress was given a prominent role. Still not a leading character, but she could grab more attention. In 2019, Lee Se Young finally had a female lead role in the historical drama The Crowned Clown, acting alongside Yeo Jin Goo.
With 24 years of acting experience, the 29-year-old actress is confident in challenging herself in different genres and characters. From crime, romance to historical, from playing nice characters to villainous ones, a doctor, a police officer or a court lady, Lee Se Young pulls off every role in any genre.
It is not easy for actors to constantly change their image. As for Lee Se Young, she has proved her versatile acting, hard work and dedication to the job. However, it took her a long time to truly get a breakout role.
This beautiful girl always attracts attention whenever she has a crying scene.  Lee Se Young is very beautiful and emotional when crying, she always clearly shows the intentions of the scriptwriter, the color of the character.  Many times when mentioning her name, the audience did not hesitate to give Lee Se Young the title of “master of crying scenes”.

Having such a good acting ability, but her reputation is not as high as others, Lee Se Young still worked hard in acting and finally her efforts paid off.

The Red Sleeve has brought many good achievements to this girl.  From the film that did not receive much attention, The Red Sleeve gradually became the “black horse” of the Korean drama race at the end of 2021. In particular, it also had a spectacular and convincing victory over its direct rival Now We Are Breaking Up by Song Hye Kyo. While Song Hye Kyo was criticized for her unattractive acting and boring script, Lee Se Young received many compliments.

d3603a6315dd9f4067335021c114953554eb89d5

In addition to her acting skills, Lee Se Young was also praised a lot for wearing a hanbok.  It has been 3 years since Lee Se Young acted in a historical drama. Unlike the previous time when she played a queen wearing splendid and regal costumes, this time as a palace maid, she dressed much more simply, but still exudes a gentle aura like a fairy, and even made herself to the top of the most beautiful actresses in hanbok
Besides, the actress also has a great singing ability.  She appeared on the variety show The King Of Masked Singer in 2017 and sang 2 songs with her face hidden.  Her sweet voice attracted the audience’s great attention at that time.

‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ Episode 9: Lee Se Young Protects Lee Junho From His Enemies

In "The Red Sleeve Cuff" episode 9, even though Sung Deok Im (Lee Se Young) tries to push Yi San (Lee Junho) away, she doesn't want the crown prince to suffer from his enemies, so she protects him in any way possible.

'The Red Sleeve Cuff' Episode 9: Yi San's First Procession Outside the Palace

The crown prince was disappointed and heartbroken after hearing Sung Deok Im's cold response that there was no special meaning for her meeting him during childhood.Meanwhile, the King called Yi San to tell him about his procession as part of the process of passing the throne to the crown prince.

Spoiler

King Yeongjo (Lee Deok Hwa) gave a token to his grandson as a key to have access with the soldiers he can call anytime when a war occurs.

Head Court Lady Jo (Park Ji Young) heard the news that the king allowed the crown prince to have a procession. This gave her the idea to attack the palace and kill Yi San as he is close to becoming the king.

Sung Deok Im Falls Asleep in Crown Prince Yi San's Room

After the procession, the court ladies prepared for the crown prince's arrival. Lady Seo tasked Deok Im to lay on Yi San's blanket to make it warm, but she warned Sung Deok Im to not dare fall asleep before the crown prince gets in.

Meanwhile, he asked his loyal guard Kang Tae Ho (Oh Dae Hwan) to protect the room and make sure no one would enter. Even without knowing why, Tae Ho followed him to find out t was Sung Deok Im who was inside. He felt betrayed for a moment by his Royal Highness.

Sung Deok Im Warns Yi San About His Enemies

Court Lady Seo (Jang Hye Jin) was framed by Kang Wol Hye (Ji Eun) to stay away from the palace to fulfill their mission against the crown prince. Sung Deok Im escorted Lady Seo from going out and the lady used it to confess about the secret organization headed by Lady Jo.

When they arrived at their destination, they found out Lady Jo planned something against the crown prince, which signaled that Yi San was in danger.

Deok Im painted the symbol she saw on the kite inside the palace. It was a code that tells an enemy is about to arrive.

Yi San saw the kite and immediately gathered all his men to prepare. They were shocked to know their guns and weapons were damaged.

Yi San and His Guards' Intense Fight with the Assassins

The assassins were trapped in the palace and the crown prince used his bow to signal that a battle was about to start.

The palace was in a chaotic state and more assassins came. Thankfully, Hong Dong Ro (Kang Hoon) fulfilled his duty of bringing the soldiers with him to fight against the enemies.

They saved the crown prince and the remaining guards. Yi San was thankful for Dong Ro's genuine gesture.

Yi San went out to unwind after the fight against the assassins when he saw Sung Deok Im running towards his direction. He was happy to see her once again, so he started running towards her.

Yi San was quick to catch Deok Im into his arms. He was moved by the court lady warning him about the enemies, and he knew from the start that the moment he saw the kite, it was Sung Deok Im who made it.

Spoiler recaps for eps 10 (Part 1)

202112111800396110_2.jpg

On this day, Seongdeok-im ran to the palace for a long time, and then fell in Lee-san's arms out of exhaustion . Seong Deok-im said, "Did you see. The signal kite , you saw it? Look at it. Didn't I say I will protect you? While you're  busy protecting this country, Joseon, and I'm busy protecting you. So who will be busier?" A smile of relief came on her face.

After that, Seong Deok-im was exhausted slept in  Lee San’s arms. Lee San confessed with tears, saying, "When I saw the warning, I thought it was you. It was only you. The face that came to mind when I thought I might die, and the face I begged for, please let me see you once more, was you, Deok-im-ah."

Meanwhile, Hong Deok-ro (Kang Hoon), who witnessed this, approaches Lee San and says, "There is no time to care about the lowly court lady. You need to investigate the rebels and lead the guards' forces. You should find the villain."

To this Hong Deok-ro, Lee San said to wait a little longer and replied, "Aren't you curious. Who rescued me by flying the kite ? This is this person. I promised to protect her  until she wakes up. I can't go now."

But Hong Deok-ro did not back down. Hong Deok-ro said, "Soin also rescued the young man. With the sole intention to protect him, he ran his horse without a break." Come," he asked. " You must protect all the people of this country. Perhaps it is enough to keep one woman, are you going to be so blunt?"

In the end, Lee San had no choice but to leave Deok-im’s side. Lee San entrusted DeokIm to Seo Sang-gung (Jang Hye-jin), who had just arrived in front of the Haenggung Palace.

Spoiler recaps for eps 10 (Part 2)

On this day, Seong Deok-im (Lee Se-young) was told by the Donggung official (Yun Hyo-sik) to take the books to the library and keep it for the time being. Seong Deok-im asked Hong Deok-ro (Kang Hoon) why Lee San (Lee Jun-ho) was moving, but he replied that he did not know the reason.

Seongdeok-im, who was sleeping in the Donggung library, woke up after a night of separation. Deok-im smiled and tried to stroke Lee San’s face while eating, but there was no one there. She was dreaming

Seongdeok-im realized this and muttered, “I miss you,” with tears in her eyes. Lee San, who appeared at this time, asked if she was joking without working. Deokim hurriedly approached Leesan and asked if there were any injuries.

Lee San, who replied that he was fine, looked at Seong Deok-im’s face and said, “Did you cry? Did something happen?” he asked. Embarrassed, Deok-im lied that she yawned while asleep. Lee San, who was staring at his sanctity, pinched his face and said, “If you play a joke, you should be punished.”

Seong-deok-im asked for an award because she did a good job, and Lee-san said that he would do anything and asked what she wanted. DeokIm wanted  to see the sky through the celestial mirror ( telescope)  saying that he was curious every time Lee San wrote about it . At Lee San's words to think of other wishes, Deok-im looked at his face with the telescope and said, "Your highness' face looks like a royal bell. Hey, did you know you have a mole on you earlobe? What else? Why are you standing still? Ooh, that's rude! You have told me that .”

Lee San said, “Deok-im, who was the person you wanted to see in the library earlier , enough to shed tears.” Lee- san had heard everything  she said while  sleeping.

He said, “Deok-im, I can’t pretend I’m not feeling anymore. I don't even want to.... If your mind is like mine, then what I want to say is. I am... ,” he said. Seongdeok-im, who stopped Lee San, said, “Please don’t say anything. You told me to think about my wishes. Your Highness will safely ascend to the throne. Don't think about anything else until that day. Do you have time to think about something else?” she told him  firmly.

Lee San said, "That's your wish? Okay. I'll go back now," he said and took a step back. Sung Deok-im, who was looking at his back, muttered, "Please be safe." Upon hearing those words, Lee San approached her and kissed her forehead and said he could not come for a while.

Spoiler recaps for eps 10 (Part 3)

Seong Deok-im (Lee Se-young) ran into Kang Wol-hye (Ji-eun), who told Seo Sang-gung (Jang Hye-jin) not to forget that they had become one from the moment they were sent to the banquet hall. Kang Wol-hye pretended to be okay and had daily conversations while Seong-deok-im went back saying that she had stopped by to see Sanggung while she was in Donggung.

Seongdeok-im, who ran to her friends, informed of them about the CL secret organisation. Bae Baek-hee (Ha Yu-ri) was shocked that the secret organization of court ladies was real, and Seo Sang-gung was also included. Seong Deok-im said, “From now on, it’s all my guess. A traitor who was at Haenggung, maybe Gwanghangung was behind the attempted sabotage of the crown prince. It was Seo Sang-gung who noticed the treason in the first place. But she didn't say that Gwanghan Palace was behind him."

Son Young-hee (Lee Eun-sam), who said that Seo Sang-gung may not want Gwanghan-gung to disappear, said, “I know you want to protect Lee San but the court ladies we have known all our lives won't betray us . Mama (CL Seo)  told you all these stories because she was worried about you. I just hope that nothing dangerous happens to you. What do you want to do?” she asked Seongdeok-im. Deok-im, who was worried, replied that she wanted to protect CL Seo.

-------------------------

Deok-im said that Jo (Park Ji-young) was not in the house and that  she was going to go find the document that had all the CL ladies involved in the secret organisation,  and erase CL's Seo name.  CL Seo Sang-gung saw how dangerous it was, said that if the reality of what happened at  Gwanghan Palace was revealed,  Seo would also lose her life.

Seo Sang-gung and Seong-deok-im, who entered the room of Jo's room with the help of the other CLs , began to search her place. At this time, the other CLs  discovered Jo was returning and  tried to inform Deok-im, but they bowed their heads saying that it was already too late.

Meanwhile Deok-im, who found the space behind the wall, moved inside with Seo. Returning to her residence, Jo, noticed that the candle had gone out and noticed something strange.

Seongdeokim found the space under the chair and opened the door and found the stairs.

At this time,  Seong-deok-im remembered that CL Park  (Cha Mi-kyung) had disappeared after that a meeting. Deok-im and Seo, who came down the stairs, were surprised to find CL Park  The two helped  Park Sang-gung to escape , which was later discovered by Jo. (but don't think Jo knows who helped her) . Deok Im and Seo brought Park to safe place to recuperate.

I forgot to mention that at the start Lee San again was "punished" by having his residence move because of some devious instigation that Court Lady Jo got the Left State Councillor ( the minister who is in cahoots with her) to say some stuff about San to the King. Basically they say San was attempting treason (smmhhhh) :

Hong Jeong-yeo met King Yeong-jo (Lee Deok-hwa) and informed him that Lee-san was coming to the capital with the soldiers of the royal guard. The people said that they were trembling in confusion and fear, and that there was a conspiracy to undermine the national sovereignty. Hong Jeong-yeo told Yeongjo that Lee San would have wanted to show the image of a king with a military command, saying that he thought treason was an excuse. (So basically accusing San of misusing the royal guards)

---------------------------

Spoiler recaps for eps 10 (Part 4)

His mother , Hyebin Hong asked Lee San if Yeongjo had anything else to say. Holding his hand tightly, she told Lee San to smile because he had to brighten up Yeongjo's heart for tomorrow's banquet. Lee San said, “There was a rebellion and I almost lost my life. His Majesty, whom you should trust, is looking at Soson with suspicion. Do I have to laugh like this?” he asked.

To survive, Hyebin Hong said, “San has never truly smiled since your father passed away. But you have survived and will continue to survive,” she said firmly.

Lee San, who was returning to the Donggung Palace, saw the court ladies and said to Jeong Jae-hwa (Bae Je-gi), “I must have lied to my mother. Come to think of it, I laugh quite often.” He said, 'After I met you, I always smiled. You always made me laugh. Yes? Deok-im-ah,' he recalled . He missed Deok Im.

Image

Princess Hwawan, who visited CL Jo, said that she would not leave the palace. She asked if there was any way to stop Lee San  at once when she said that Sook's Mun (Go Ha) would help her.

Before the banquet began, Princess Hwawan exchanged glances with Ms. Moon of Sook-ui. Jeong Baek-ik asked if she had anything to hide. Princess Hwawan replied, "I'm just doing what I can while Abamama is alive and well."

The banquet started and Yeongjo smiled as if he was in a good mood. Yeongjo was worried that Lee San had a dark complexion, and he said, “Since I started cleaning by proxy, my heart is always heavy. I didn't know that the job of mediation was so difficult."

At this time, Hyebin Hong said, “I have a request for Yeongjo, and this banquet was originally reserved for Donggung to offer his honor to the High Majesty and to give his ancestral rites. It is true that you have already rejected the honorary title  , but please consider Donggung’s (San)  heart once more.”

At that, Yeongjo laughed at how he could refuse and complained that the food was too little. In response, Queen informed that everyone here had prepared food for Yeongjo and asked him to accept it. King Yeongjo said that he would receive it of course, but Queen asked, “Your Majesty, for entertainment, would you like to guess who prepared what food?”

Princess Hwawan was surprised and asked if she was doing such a troublesome thing for nothing. Yeongjo replied that he was confident that he would get everything right.

Jeong Baek-ik grabbed Jo and asked what was going on at the banquet. "Don't worry",  Jo said, "Everything is going well. Without a single point of error.”

Yeongjo matched Sookui and Princess Hwawanju’s food. The next food was crab and persimmon, and Yeongjo was shocked when he saw it.  Jo  told Hong Jeong-yeo that the King was afraid of raw  crab meat, and would  suspect someone wants to poison him.

Yeongjo started looking for the person who came up with this and moved to look at  Lee San.

Yes it is slower in pace. More politics & very little of them together. I do think he needs to ascend the throne next week.

As MBC‘s first sageuk in 14 years, there were a lot of expectations riding on The Red Sleeve, which its first half meets with flourish. Promoted as a “traditional sageuk”, The Red Sleeve stands out amidst the sea of currently airing sageuks for its adherence to historical context, its tight storytelling and its subversion of typical sageuk norms. Thankfully, the general public seems to think the same, and its ratings have been rising steadily with each week.

Based on Kang Mi-kang‘s novel of the same name, the drama depicts the story of Crown Prince Yi San (later King Jeongjo) and his personal court lady, Sung Deok-im (later Sung Uibin), played by 2PM‘s Junho and Lee Se-young respectively. While their romance is a significant part of the drama, and this couple definitely has sizzling chemistry, The Red Sleeve takes great efforts to develop all of its characters individually, giving them personalities and complexities that make them feel like real people.

I did not expect for episode 10 to break my poor melodramatic heart. Honestly despite the frustrating pacing, they actually delivered the melodrama I wanted to see - thanks to Junho for the first 10 minutes more or less and Seyoung on the latter part of the drama.

I just realized I cannot watch the clip of Deok Im daydreaming about San anymore without crying. It's pure pain in so many levels because

1. Even when she rejected San's mandarin orange confession, her subconscious still came up with that scenario. Her heart remembered what San loves doing the most.

2. It also shows that everything they shared in the last few weeks or days, all of it are special to Deok Im.

Actually episodes 9 and 10 dedicate more time for us to explore on Deok Im's feelings. As predicted, she has feelings for San but she is more rational as she knows her priorities. And when she finally managed to tell him what is from her heart - in this case her priority, San was able to understand because this time Deok Im is more honest about it.

Deok Im wanted to do some more things with him as his servant, but she can't thanks to the aftermath due to bad cards laid out. Her yearning was there which eventually led San found out about it and reciprocated in the manner she would welcome for now.

And I think in relation to second formal rejection, what Deok Im laid out in both episodes will be the cause of frustration for San to punish her subordinates later on.

sending this GIF for @abs-oluteM! Deok Im's face was slightly twitched from the teardrop though...

How to say I Love You:

Some observations about the episode:

Let's clown some more here LOL

Episode 9 was wonderful! There's character development for both along the way. And I think at some point, Deok Im will eventually have feelings for San. It's just that it won't be in the same manner San wants to get from her.

Deok Im's love language is definitely in the form of protecting someone. In this case, it's San

What I like about this drama so far is that the romance between two people is expressed in a subtle manner even though their age is quite young

I so agree, Deok-Im's Words of "I told you I would protect you" has s much more layer of love than words "i love you" can ever mean in their context.

I remember when San First heard that words from DeokIm, at the end of Episode 5 of protecting him. And his question and expression, was the same as me. Like for real DeokIm a court Lady will protect him...? Him being a man in the joseon era and the crown prince....

But Time and time again, she has proven it. She will protect him and that has been just beautiful to see

and also refreshing to see, in the saguek world where in the ML is the hero and FL is the damsel in distress, he we have a FL who is the is like a guardian angel of San...

and this post/article really emphasized that (I wish it were translated)

Also of note for drama narrative, is the part when Di said, "Your highness is always protecting this kingdom. And I’m busy protecting your highness. Who do you think is the busier one”. I emphasized the type of relationship this two have. They started as friends and you can see that beat continue here, even in the face of the danger  (San and Taeho did a bit also) or the aftermath.

I don't give  much credit with the writer, but this right her is due to the writer.

The strength the the story telling allows us to accept that is what is suppose to happen, that spurt of comedy. The writing has weaved a web of the relationship between DI and San to be this light even in the face of all things chaotic....

Also I did not notice about the symbolism of the house that DeokIm made vs the one bokyeon made

...it really is interesting how very different their views are. DI has simple goals for herself but has high hopes for San.

4 Key Points To Look Forward To In The 2nd Half Of “The Red Sleeve”

MBC’s hit drama “The Red Sleeve” has entered the second half of its run!

“The Red Sleeve” is a historical drama about the imperial romance between crown prince Yi San (played by 2PM’s Lee Junho) and the strong-willed court lady Seong Deok Im (played by Lee Se Young).

Here are four key points to look forward to in the upcoming episodes:

SPOILERS
1. Yi San’s obstacle-ridden rise to the throne

The succession of power has become a hot topic as King Yeongjo (played by Lee Deok Hwa) struggles with dementia. With the opposition setting their sights on taking down Yi San, the conflict over the throne has been raising the tension in the palace. Viewers will also be able to look forward to watching Yi San and Seong Deok Im working together to overcome all sorts of obstacles and moments of crisis.

2. Yi San as king and his desire to achieve what he wants

Yi San has always placed his goal of becoming king as his top priority. He has restrained himself from doing the things he wanted, including resisting the desire to become closer to Seong Deok Im.

In the second half of the drama, Yi San will no longer need to hide this desire, and he will do everything he can do keep Seong Deok Im by his side. As king, Yi San will pursue Seong Deok Im as a man with a burning desire, raising anticipation for the story of their long-awaited romance.

3. The second rejection

As Seong Deok Im is known to be the court lady who rejected the king twice, the question of how Seong Deok Im will reject Yi San again will resurface. The changes in Seong Deok Im’s feelings will touch viewers’ hearts as her emotions sway with Yi San’s every word and action. The second half of the drama will touch upon the question of “Did the court lady love the king?”

4. Hong Deok Ro and his lust for power

Viewers can look forward to seeing how Hong Deok Ro (played by Kang Hoon)’s story will end as he attempts to attain power by placing his sister as Yi San’s concubine. Hong Deok Ro constantly keeps tabs on Yi San’s affection towards Seong Deok Im, and he crosses the line to achieve his desires and even violates orders from Yi San. Curiosity is mounting over how his relationship with Yi San will turn out when the latter becomes king.

Commenting on the second half of the drama as well as the decision to extend the drama by one episode, Lee Junho said, “I will do my best until the end to repay the viewers for supporting us. Thank you so much for all the love you’ve been showing us.”

Lee Se Young added, “I’d like to thank the viewers once again for all the love and support.”

The production staff also remarked, “We have a wide variety of stories prepared for the second half of the drama, including the romance between [Yi San and Seong Deok Im]. Please look forward to the second half of the ‘The Red Sleeve,’ which will feature even more dynamic storytelling and an explosive romance.”

“The Red Sleeve” airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST.

“Happiness” Ends On Its Highest Ratings Yet + “The Red Sleeve” Continues To Dominate Its Time Slot

Dec 12, 2021 | by E. Cha

tvN’s “Happiness” went out on a high note!

On December 11, the popular apocalyptic thriller starring Park Hyung Sik and Han Hyo Joo ended on the highest viewership ratings of its entire run. According to Nielsen Korea, the series finale of “Happiness” scored an average nationwide rating of 4.2 percent, marking a new personal record for the show.

Not only did “Happiness” take first place in its time slot across all cable channels, but it also took first place across all channels—including public broadcast networks—among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49, with whom it scored a nationwide average of 2.6 percent.

Meanwhile, MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” continued its impressive streak at the top of its own time slot, earning a nationwide average of 10.2 percent for its latest episode.

SBS’s “Now We Are Breaking Up” also remained relatively stable with an average nationwide rating of 6.8 percent for the night.

With just one episode left in its run, tvN’s “Jirisan” heads into its series finale at first place in its time slot across all cable channels. The mystery thriller starring Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon scored an average nationwide rating of 7.6 percent for its penultimate episode. “Jirisan” also took first place in its time slot across all channels (including public broadcast networks) among viewers ages 20 to 49, with whom it earned a nationwide average of 3.6 percent.

Additionally, two new dramas premiered to promising starts last night: TV Chosun’s new remake of BBC’s hit series “Uncle” kicked off with an average nationwide rating of 2.4 percent, while KBS’s new historical drama “The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won” started strong with an average nationwide rating of 8.7 percent.

JTBC’s “Inspector Koo” dipped to an average nationwide rating of 1.5 percent for its latest episode, while OCN’s “Chimera” fell to a nationwide average of 1.2 percent.

Finally, KBS 2TV’s “Young Lady and Gentleman” maintained its position as the most-watched program to air on any channel on Saturday with an average nationwide rating of 29.5 percent.

...To take note of, KBS just aired a traditional saguek and its airing time overlaps with TRS, and its ratings are quite promising at 8%. and that amidst all the airing dramas and finale of tvN's Happiness... Same with "uncle" which is airing in TV chosun. Next week there will also be premiers of a few dramas... So I do wonder how the ratings will shake up. Will TRS stay stagnant at 10% or will it increase and hit their ratings promise at 15%?

Plot wise, it has become politics heavy, which is understandable given that San's ascension is very much important plot device for tension as well as overall narrative and history. But I do wonder if they will have the Sandeok couple be separated for most of this conflict....

Lmao I couldn't agree more with this tweet

Deok Im is definitely the kingmaker in Joseon era, and it's definitely the reason why she had higher hopes for San than for herself.
