“The Roundup: No Way Out” starring actor Don Lee will premiere in cinemas on May 31, distributors ABO Entertainment and PlusM Entertainment announced Wednesday.

“The Roundup: No Way Out” is the third entry in the “The Roundup” franchise, following “The Outlaws” (2017) and “The Roundup” (2022), a series of crime-action comedy films featuring Korean-American actor Don Lee, who is also the man behind the series' production.

Don Lee will play Ma Seok Do, an introvert police detective assigned to the violent crime section who fights suspects. Ma will be taking on illegal drug trafficking organizations in the latest film.

The franchise has seen great success at the box office, with “The Outlaws” garnering 6 million in ticket sales, the fourth most successful Korean R-Rated film surpassing “Tazza: The High Rollers” (2006). “The Roundup” was the No. 1 most watched film of 2022 with 12 million in ticket sales.

Don Lee, commonly known by his Korean name Ma Dong Seok, starred in "Train to Busan" (2016), "Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days" (2018), "Eternals" (2021) in the Marvel franchise and more.

Japanese animated film "Suzume" has set a record at Korea's box office, surpassing 5 million ticket sales on Friday, according to data from the Korean Film Council.

The fantasy adventure animation, which hit local theaters on March 8, became the first film released this year to reach over 5 million ticket sales and the first ever Japanese film to do so. As of Sunday, the film has garnered a total of about 5.06 million sales, grossing 52 billion won ($38.8 million).

Led by director Makoto Shinkai, who garnered popularity with his fantasy animated films, "Your Name" (2016) and "Weathering with You" (2019), the film revolves around a self-centred high school girl, Suzume. One day, Suzume encounters a young man on her way to school, which leads her to discover an isolated door leading to a dreamlike universe.

Opening the door out of curiosity, she accidentally lets out an evil creature from the other universe. Joining hands with the mysterious young man, she helps him to prevent disaster from befalling Japan.

The animation became the highest-grossing Japanese movie on April 14, beating out the previous record set by the basketball animated film "The First Slam Dunk" after accumulating 4.48 million ticket sales. "The First Slam Dunk," which was released in January, took the title after recording 3.81 million ticket sales as of March.

Director Shinkai is currently visiting Korea for the film's promotion for the second time. During his trip in March upon the film's release, he promised to pay another visit to the country if the movie passes 3 million admissions. He is on tour around Korea, meeting local fans in theaters from Thursday to Sunday.

Walt Disney Company Korea

Marvel Studios' new film "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" has surpassed 1 million admissions at the fastest pace among this year's releases in South Korea, its local distributor said Saturday.

The film had garnered a cumulative audience of 1.02 million as of midnight Friday, the fourth day of its release, according to Walt Disney Company Korea.

It became the fastest film to surpass 1 million admissions this year, outpacing the year's top-grossing films, which include the animated Japanese film "Suzume" and the Korean crime-thriller "The Point Men," which took six and seven days, respectively, to do so.

In comparison, "Top Gun: Maverick," which sold 8.17 million tickets last year, and "Avatar: The Way of Water," a 2022 film that surpassed 10 million moviegoers earlier this year, took four days and three days, respectively, to reach the same milestone.

The success of the third installment of the "Guardians" series was unexpected as the first two installments attracted just slightly over 1.34 million to 2.73 million admissions, respectively, in South Korea.

The series, which first premiered in 2014, tells the story of underdog superheroes who are somewhat lacking in teamwork or ability, as they face a multiversal threat.

In "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" that will be the final installment of the series, Peter, who grieves after losing his lover Gamora, sets out on a mission with his colleagues that could be their last.

Did you girls play with Barbie? This looks hilarious...will definitely check it out

I ended up really enjoying this one.

Kind of late to the party but I just discovered the amazing talent that is Austin Butler. I saw him on Elvis and he was just superb- he wasn't just impersonating Elvis, he was Elvis. That was how good he was.  He won a Golden Globe and the Baftas, and nominated for an Oscar. Going through a lot of his interviews , the way he prepares for all his roles is pure dedication. His work ethic according to Tom Hanks who worked with him twice is second to none. I highly recommend this Baz Luhrmann biopic of Elvis
