Actor Lee Jun is starring in the new work of writer Kim Soon-ok and PD Joo Dong-min.

 

As a result of the coverage of Joy News 24 on the 14th, Lee Jun recently decided to appear in the new SBS drama 'Seven Escape' and is preparing for filming.

According to the integrated computer network for cinema admission tickets, the first part of 'Alien + Human' (Director Dong Hoon Choi, Production Caper Film) took the first place with a reservation rate of 23.6% as of 5:00 pm on the 17th, three days before its release. The number of pre-order audiences was 68,396.

 

 Part 1 of 'Alien + Human' is a new film released by director Choi Dong Hoon, who directed 'Woochi Jeon', 'Thieves' and 'Assassination', after 7 years, as a movie that opens the door to the summer market , where the battlefield for masterpieces is expected. Seoul drama awards to collect viewers votes on best Korean, Asian actors.

Drama fans around the world are being encouraged to vote for their favorite stars for the 2022 Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA), according to the organizer of the event, Tuesday.

 

The organizing committee of the annual SDA said it will collect votes for the three categories of awards: Outstanding Asian Star, Outstanding Performance (in a Korean drama), and Best OST.

 

The voting for the 17th SDA will open from Aug. 1 for one month on Idol Champ, an app developed by Neowiz and MBC Plus, where fans can vote for various competition programs, having some 8 million users.

 

 For the Outstanding Asian Star category, fans will select up to five actors and actresses from Asian nations except for Korea. Last year's winners were Marcus Chang from Taiwan for "Lost Romance," Amanda Manopo from Indonesia for "The Ties of Love," Kentaro Sakaguchi from Japan for "Signal Special Episode," Lusi Zhao from China for "Chang Ge Xing ― the Long Ballad ," and PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn from Thailand for " I Told Sunset About You."

 

In the Outstanding Performance category, male and female actors who have appeared in Korean dramas will be candidates after being recommended by terrestrial and cable networks and streaming service platforms. Last year, actor Song Joong Ki from "Vincenzo" and actress Bae Suzy from "Start-Up" won the award.

 

The Best OST category selects one person who sang in a Korean drama soundtrack. Trot singer Young Tak took the award last year for "Okay," the original soundtrack for "Revolutionary Sisters."

 

This year, a new category will also be made to pick a K-pop singer who also performs as an actor, to recognize those who contribute to the development of hallyu, or the Korean wave, in both the pop music and drama fields.

 

In this year's SDA, there were entries of 225 dramas from 39 countries. The winners will be announced at the awarding ceremony on Sept. 22, which will be held offline after two years of the ceremony being held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘Work Later, Drink Now’ and ‘Seoul Check-in’ Become the Most Popular TVING Shows of 2022 So Far.

On July 19th, TVING shared the list of the most-watched shows of this year, based on the number of unique visitors who have used the VOD service.

 

Military Prosecutor Doberman came in at No.5 on the list, followed by You Quiz on the Block at No.4, Unexpected Business 2 at No.3 and Twenty-Five Twenty-One at No.2. The first place went to Seoul Check-in, which stayed atop the list from January to June of this year.

 

Among the contents released last year, the programs that became popular in the first half of this year were all TVING Originals, except for tvN’s New Journey to the West 8, which came in at No.5 on the list. New Journey to the West Special Spring Camp landed at No.4 and Yumi’s Cells and Girls’ High School Mystery Class ranked No.3 and No.2, respectively. Work Later, Drink Now topped the list as the show played a crucial role in helping the service to grow its paid subscriber base at a rapid pace.

 

TVING is currently airing Transit Love 2 and Zero-Sum Game, and is set to drop Witch Hunt 2022, Youth MT, and Work Later, Drink Now 2 in the latter half of next year.

South Korean television network JTBC has announced the launch of a new music show titled K-909.

 

On August 1, JTBC unveiled plans for its new music programme K-909, along with a teaser video. The network describes the upcoming show as a “global” music show, for fans of K-pop from all over the world.

 

The accompanying clip outlines the types of artists and genres that will be featured on the show, from K-pop, folk music to R&B. K-909 is set to start airing in September 2022, though an exact premiere date has not been confirmed.

SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Yonhap) The South Korean sensation "Squid Game" has won two awards at this year's Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) TV Awards.

 

According to the HCA on Tuesday (Korean time), "Squid Game" was named Best International Series and its lead Lee Jung Jae won Best Actor in Streaming Series Drama, at its annual awards for TV programs.

 

For the Best International Series award, the all-Korean Netflix original competed with the Korean-language epic series "Pachinko," the Mexican comedy "Acapulco," the French thriller "Lupin," the Spanish crime action series "Money Heist" and the American-Mexican crime drama "Narcos: Mexico."

 

In a videotaped acceptance speech, "Squid Game" creator Hwang Dong Hyuk said he is grateful for the honor and now working on the series' second season.

 

"I believe the series has since overcome the limits of a non-English series to create many historical moments and breakthroughs," he said. "I do hope to create a better second season and share it with all the fans and critics around the world."

 

Lee took home the best actor trophy, beating seven other candidates, including Adam Scott from "Severance," Jason Bateman from "Ozark" and Tom Ellis from "Lucifer." He was the only non-English performer among the nominees.

 

The awards came about a month before the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony slated for Sept. 12, where "Squid Game" has nabbed 14 nominations, including outstanding drama series and outstanding lead actor.

 

"Squid Game" is the first South Korean-made content to be included in the final list of nominees for the Primetime Emmy Awards, one of the four major American awards for performing arts and entertainment.

 

It is also the first non-English language series to vie for television's top honor at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
