SF9’s Rowoon and Park Eun Bin’s upcoming KBS 2TV drama “The King’s Affection” is gearing up for its premiere!

Based on the manhwa (Korean comic) of the same name, “The King’s Affection” will tell the story of a pair of royal twins, one male and one female. Although the sister is initially abandoned for being female, she later disguises herself as a man to become the crown prince when her brother dies. Park Eun Bin will star in the drama as Lee Hwi, the crown prince with a shocking secret, while Rowoon will star as male lead Jung Ji Woon, who is Lee Hwi’s teacher.

 

Since the past, KBS has continued to release hit historical dramas including “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” “Love in the Moonlight,” and “The Tale of Nokdu.” The lineup for the first half of 2021 also included the refreshing story of “Royal Secret Agent” and “River Where the Moon Rises,” which successfully brought folklore to life. In the second half of 2021, “The King’s Affection” is expected to captivate viewers with its remarkable love story.

 

 

 

The upcoming drama will also be the first historical drama by director Song Hyun Wook, who helmed many well-known romance projects including “Beauty Inside,” “Another Oh Hae Young,” and “Marriage, Not Dating.” The director is an expert in the romance genre, subtly portraying the emotions of the couples in detail while also taking care to capture the eye-catching narratives of the other characters surrounding the leads.

 

Another interesting point in the drama is the topic of a female crown prince. The original webtoon started from the idea of what would happen if there was a woman in the Joseon dynasty who rose to the throne and became king but had to disappear from history because she was female. The drama focuses on the romance that blooms as a fierce battle unfolds between those who want to protect her secret and those who want to reveal the truth.

 

Furthermore, popular young actors have rounded out the cast to make the drama even more highly anticipated. In addition to the two main leads Park Eun Bin and Rowoon, the drama boasts a star-studded lineup that includes Nam Yoon Su, VICTON’s Byungchan, Bae Yoon Kyung, DIA’s Jung Chaeyeon, and more.

I failed doing a good job for Rowoon's fighting scene. That one is too dark and no matter how I adjust it is just not up to my liking. Do you have any tips/ideas to share about brightening up the gifs yet it doesn't look grainy?

Will you join us? Please please please? 

Rowoon was in School 2017, About Time, Where Stars Land, Extraordinary You and Sunbae, Don't Put On That Lipstick.  Only the last two dramas he was main lead. Others were supporting roles.

I'm so busy this week and I'm not sure if I can watch the premiere episodes,  I even couldn't watch otuer dramas too. 

 

The trailers looks so interesting @mademoiselle you see I feel so jealous with the king, she has 3 handsome guys around him, who ready to save her and do whatever it takea to protect her, she has many concubines indeed! Lols. 

 

Look, what I predicted seems to be true, he will witness her reveal herself as girl, the pattern is always the same, night time and the guy will see her true self under the full moon. Lols 

I think the two men, her teacher and the scholar knows her is a girl. And I believe they pick her a trustworthy body guard, he's not just any guy must be, he probably is told already that his king is female. 

 

Again, the kdrama trope we know, childhood sweetheart, they met as teens then reunites in the palace as king and the teacher. I guess he finally sees her secret when he feels some connection whenever he interacts with the king, like reminding him of his childhood sweetheart. 

 

This drama somewhat reminds me also with an old manga called Mint-na Bokura, a twin sister and brother and they switched places. I didn't finish this, somehow just stopped somewhere in what chapter I forgot. I just remember here the twin brother enrolled to a boarding school impersonating his twin sister. So many funny accidents and moments in it. So I am thinking that TKA will have some great comedy like here.

@Alice Wonderland Yeah agree it is tropey. It all depends on how well the story can be written, executed and played by these actors to making it look refreshing and interesting, as well as heart-wrenching feels. Hehehe. It looks like there will be some comedy at first since she tries really hard to get rid of him. LOL.

 

The servants (the lady and the eunuch) who followed her closely know he is a female. The Queen knows too. Other than that, I think no one else knew.

 

Ji Hoon finds Lee Hwi girlie and familiar (based on the preview) is because he has met her outside the palace before as a woman. I'm not too sure if she reminds him of his first love at this point.

Alice, what I find so funny is that it is not the guys who like her ( apart from Rowoon) ...the women both love Lee Hwi and want to marry her or ...him. LOL!
