I'm starting to feel more for Doo Shik as a character. I think the show kept in under wraps so much before it didn't flesh him out enough. Doo Shik keeps hiding behind his smiley faces whereas now we see a bit more real emotions and learning about his past, albeit still very little.

 

I'm not too surprised he would think he's the reason why all his loved ones died. It's already telling when he blurted out that he doesn't keep anything alive. What I want more is to learn and be part of his inner loneliness. I also want Hye Jin help healing his trauma.

 

I think it's human nature that he wants to avoid a relationship with Hye Jin but unable to fully "let" her go. The heart wants what it wants whereas the brain tries to reason with it. It's just the normal process Doo Shik has to go through before we get our happily ever after.

 

Thanks @Chocolate for posting those clues. So it isn't his own family that he had lost. Potentially just a very close friend. There's this part of me that actually wish it was his own family because that impact is greater.

 

I've never talked about Yong Guk before but LOLLLL... had to laugh at the reason he thought he was being dumped. He honestly is a naive character from beginning to the end. xD Now I'm totally interested to know why Hwang Jeong kick him out although I'm thinking it had to be along the lines of him never forgetting his first love.

 

I was wondering why is Hye Jin walking home alone again at the end of the episode and are we not to worry about the byeongtae anymore but it seems like from preview and pre-release cut, Hye Jin will be attacked or something because Doo Shik's arm is injured. And she's so scared, it seems, that she's spending a night at Doo Shik's house again LOL.

Yes , true. It would be too much for a show of this tone to have the ML a murderer. I am speculating as well that his friend died because of his carelessness in something. My initially more makjang speculation was that the photo of the mother & child was his wife. LOL.

 

I can understand why @stroppyse would have SLS.  Truth is I like how Seong Hyeon's character is written a bit more than Doo Sik. Doo Sik is saved by the charm of Kim Seon Ho. I may also have strong SLS if it wasn't KSH playing this. The thing is that DS can come across a little imposing with his own ideas & thoughts , maybe some might say a little rude or arrogant. I get that he means well , but I can see him rubbing people the wrong way. Like sometimes , if I put myself in Hye Jin's shoes , I would be annoyed that he tells me  off when he barely knew me ( especially in the early episodes). Also he has this defensive wall so he tends to be a little snappy in some of his replies. It is ironic that the man who seems to have  his nose in everyone's business is terribly secretive about his own. I am looking forward to him opening himself up to Hye Jin.

I am sorry but I have to disagree if DS is the male version of SBN in LR. Why, because that drama is super absurd imo. I dropped it very soon back then. How could you get rid of your bad luck if you sleep with a tiger born year male. I wondered where this senseless logic comes from. It's the writer is to be blamed.

 

Here DS is much hurt psychologically so he blamed himself but he doesn't lose his inteligence and still thinks correctly. He knows he is sick so he seeks to the right person, a psychiatrist to help him out. While SBN is quite stupid for blidnly believing a shaman suggestion that she almost slept with random guy who tried to trap her into a porn video making. Yes they have one common thing, the similarity is both DS and SBN are experiencing some trauma that led them blaming themselves for it. I know DS is good and kind but he is also annoying sometimes, but that doesn't go overboard. So I can easily sympathize over his condition, having my emphaty while watching him through my screen. But for SBN, I prefer to cut it off right away and watch other show which has better characters. Lols.

@mademoiselle @abs-oluteM let's give him a hug, pat on the shoulder, it's not his fault. I think he gradually becomes a lot better so the doctor suggest him to reduce his medicine dose. I believe with HJ who also losing her mom and is still missing her like he misses his family. Both shares same deep sorrowness for longing their beloved ones. DS is just starting to fix his real problem here as the doctor suggest. So I think some more time he'll be able to face his trauma and moves on to heal. 

 

I love that details too. And also I like his sarcastic jokes to HJ.

Yes , I look forward to him doing that . More than the 1st proper kiss , I would like to see him telling Hye Jin what happened to him 5 years ago . He was not ready to share when she asked him in eps 9 . That will be when he starts healing

I must say that I feel like rooting for SH as well. I love his character setup. I don't think I will drop the drama, but it's already ep.9 and I feel like we're not getting anywhere with anything... Sure their relationship is better, but the mystery is kept from us too long and not intriguing enough now. It's not a drama that I will rush to watch the new episode, because somehow I know not much would happen. It's a drama for leisure watching, when you have nothing else to do. 

 

When it comes to small town dramas, for me nothing beats When the Camellia Blooms. It really is the best, awesome-est small town drama for me. DDSSLLS, sad to say I actually kinda skip-watching it towards the end. I hope I will not resort to doing so for this drama

Good point! When I re-watch DDSSLLS, I have to say that I only watch the first 2/3 anyway whereas I love almost everything about When the Camelia Blooms. Will watch that instead.

 

I'm happy that everyone else is happy with this drama. Just reading the posts here on ep 10, it's only confirmed that I made the right decision to drop this drama. Happy watching, everyone! KSH really is amazingly cute. I thought so even when he was supposed to be "ugly" in Chief Kim.

Love love love this episode! They finally being truthful to their own feelings, admitting their love. And the ost is just so lovely!! Is it released yet?

 

I love how they come together in DS's grandfather memorial day. Thst is so lovely heartwarming seeing them one by one delivering what they can give to DS. These people are just melting my heart. I remember how annoying they r the other days and now they are really caring to each other despite of what they do daily. 

 

@mademoiselle I guess those cells' life are affecting us now. Lols. I feel like my love cells along with the other are celebrating with joy.

Ep. 10 is much better than 9/8/7... Finally we're getting somewhere!   Even though I am sad to see SH getting his confession rejected. But what has he been waiting for all these times??!

 

I love that the villagers came bringing stuff for DS's grandpa memorial. HJ underestimated DS's existence in the hearts of these villagers, LOL...

My favourite scenes from episode 10 are:

 

• when the villagers brought food for Doo Shik's grandpa's ritual *touch*. It's this kind of moment that Doo Shik isn't too lonely.
• when Doo Shik and Hye Jin ate dinner together after paying respect to his grandpa. From the moment she removes the shell to her blurting out. Great acting from the both of them.

 

As for SH sunbae, he's painted to be the nice person and all however the show doesn't really tell us much about him either so I don't find myself invested in him. Plus I know he's not meant to be with Hye Jin so there's even less investment. I don't know why of the 7 years he knew Hye Jin, he never tried to seek her out if he really likes her. I'd say he's missed his timings once again. Doo Shik had already invaded Hye Jin's heart very early on before he came to Gongjin.

 

I also enjoyed the Mi Sun and policeman's side story. Now I anticipate to see police guy chase Mi Sun. I think it'll be cute. As for Yong Guk, I'm as curious as he is, LOLLLL. Seriously Hwa Jeong should just say what the issue is because it might be all in her own mind and a misunderstanding!

 

@Alice Wonderland Agree the OST at the end of E10 is nice but don't think it's released yet.

But really, the show hasn't addressed Doo Shik's trauma so I think this would eventually become an issue for him and Hye Jin. His fear of losing his most loved ones is still there. The more he loves Hye Jin, the more that fear will increase (I think).

The above peotry lines really describes HDS's heart. He keeps being in his denial even he knows he likes her. I wished he could read it to the end. It still has several lines uread yet. 

 

It's really sweet of him to read HJ that poetry as her stories before bed. I can relate to this, that reading sometimes can help you to fall asleep better. Like reading your subjects book for example.
