LaLa Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Lee Young Ae comeback drama after 4 years. Well to me it's my first time watching her again on screen after Jewel in the Palace. I watched her when I was still in elementary and now I'm in my mid 20s. She didn't change at all. My goodness... I wonder what is her secrets. Is she in the vampire club with Jang Na Ra and Jun Ji Hyun who seems to have no change at all despite getting older year by year I've watched the first episodes and it's quite interesting. I looked up whether this drama has a thread in haven, but haven't found it so I made it. @abs-oluteM or @SilverMoonTea would you mind to help me to add the drama in the directory sections? Thank you :) In the first episode, you might find it a little bit confusing with 2 kinds of time frame. One it's in the present where Je Hee is asking for Kyung Yi's help in investigating an insurance client that she had. The other one, it's showing us the villain in this story, the serial murderer K story in the past. Honestly I was thinking that the young student was Kyung Yi at first because of the similar uniqueness that the teenage girl gave while she was interacting with her friends. And her friends also called her name with 'Kyung' whom I associated at first with Kyung Yi. It's not until the end of episodes that I realized both are a different person. The teenage girl showed a little of psycho tendencies when she heard that her friend wanted to kill the culprit who lured and killed the kittens at school. (TMI, I watched the drama first before I look up it on the internet. My only information at that time that Lee Young Ae is the main lead, and both Kwak Sun Young and Kim Hee Sook also joined as part of the casts. Yes my mind is full with Hospital Playlist world so those two actress are came into my mind first). I have watched the previous drama of director Lee Jung Heum Nobody Knows. While watching at the first episode, it was indeed give the similar feelings to me. No wonder. The female police officer with brilliant/genius mind in investigating with a little bit eccentric personality, also reminded me of Queen of Mystery (KBS drama). I've never heard of the writer before so I didn't know much about her/him, but from what I look up in the internet and according to wikipedia page, this drama is described as the Asian version of Killing Eve, the series is about the battle of a former police officer against a female college student who is a serial killer (source) While usually crime/thriller isn't my first choice of genre for drama, the teaser and the first episode was quite interesting, so I think I'll continue to watch this. Especially when I don't really have any drama in my current watching list :P @SnowBlob Can I catch your interest in watching this and accompany me in this thread? I'm afraid I'll be speaking to myself in here lol 4 1 1 1 Currently Watching List: K-drama: The Real Has Come, See You in My 19th Life K-variety:

joccu__ Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 @LaLa I had the same thought at first. that young girl was inspector Koo. I really liked the first episode. 5 F1, crime/thiller drama and coffee addict! FINLAND!
LaLa Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 @SilverMoonTea Thank you for the help.. Do check it out if you have the time.. The drama will only last for 12 episodes so it won't be that long~ Although because there's no oppa in it, since it's a woman centric drama, I don't know if it can hold your attention for quite long. The puppy kind of side kick of Kyung Yi is a little cute tough x) @SnowBlob Well I have already lots of practice from shrines and our ship thread, but it just feel a little bit lonely in drama thread. Lurkers just reading and lurking when I hope they will share some of their opinions while watching.. Well the synopsis didn't do justice to the first 2 episodes. If you have the free time (while you're not busy with your studies, watching badminton, or with RL), I'd like to ask you to try the first 2 episodes. It's quite interesting really. But if it still not your type, then it's alright. I tag you because you watch more dramas about crime or thriller than me so I'd like to see your opinion about this drama. On 10/31/2021 at 10:36 PM, joccu__ said: @LaLa I had the same thought at first. that young girl was inspector Koo. I really liked the first episode. Yes! because the young girl story were overlapping with Kyung Yi introductions and actions while she was investigating the case. Maybe it's the director intention or not, I don't know.. Did he want to show us that the two have one or more similar characteristics with each other? Episode 2 is getting interesting since Kyung Yi and Kei have finally met face to face.. ----- Ep 2 is getting more interesting. Director Yong aka Yong Sook has now joined and even recruited Kyung Yi to catch Kei. Yong Sook seems to have several knowledge about Kei and her mou. It's a little bit scary watching Kei seems to act nonchalant after doing the killing with smile on her face. And she got a partner who would take care of getting rid of the tools she used after finishing her deeds. Scary. And her voiceover while leading her victims to the downfall was disguised as a children story books. Wow, it just.. wow... It looks like Kei had a bad story that made her aunt send her to psychologist. From the file Kei was missing when she was just 5 years old. Maybe what happened during the time she was missing changed her to become like this? What was her relation with the young boy that was drown after he fell from the ferry? And did Kei also took part in the accident/incident which led to Kyung Yi's husband death years ago? She seemed to be interested because she didn't know that her teacher died. But why do I think that she might know or at least take part in leading for that accident to happen? Kyung Yi and Santa relationship are cute. Santa can speak! I want to know more about his backstory. Our strong three women are having their own male sidekick lol Je Hee with Kyung Soo, Kyung Yi with Santa and Yong Sook with Manager Kim... Even our resident evil Kei has hers too Making ep 1.. Eh without this making I didn't even realize that the man who was picking up the trash was Santa! So he has been staying around near Kyung Yi eh? In ep 2 he even knew where Kyung Yi lived.. Wah.. curious curious.. the PD made a joke about Kwak Sun Young strong arm since she was a soldier (referring to her role as Sergent Lee Ik Sun in Hospital Playlist) before they shot the part Je Hee has to drag Kyung Yi 4 1 1 Currently Watching List: K-drama: The Real Has Come, See You in My 19th Life K-variety:
stroppyse Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 I really wanted to like this drama. It's the first one in a long time for Lee Young Ae who has become almost mythical. I thought that if she had decided on this drama as her comeback project, it must be something special. However, I actually found the first 2 episodes rather confusing and a bit boring. Plenty of food porn as LYA's character Kyung Yi smacks, chomps, slurps through various foods along with plenty of beer, however, I didn't even find that appetizing. It was a strange juxtaposition of LYA's character not being able to motivate herself except when there is food to shovel in her mouth or beer to guzzle when there is a youthful serial killer gleefully going on her way. It's as if this drama doesn't know what it wants to be. A murder mystery? A mukbang-fest? A story about strong woman with their respective male sidekicks? A comic book come to life along with its type of storytelling devices? Along with the interesting editing choices, including Kyung Yi's ability to virtually insert herself into the crime scenes, which I think is supposed to indicate how Kyung Yi is able to visualize what happened, this is definitely not a drama where one can start to watch without prepping who the characters are beforehand. Especially since it flashes back and forth between time periods, it seems to want to conflate the killer K with Kyung Yi even, possibly deliberately causing us to question whether they are separate characters, or just different versions of herself. Though when Kyung Yi goes to her husband's classroom to question the girls, it's made more clear that they are different people. Anyway, it's hard not to overthink this drama because it wants you to think that there is a lot going on, especially with the eccentricities of the lead characters. However, it doesn't provide a cohesive story to follow or give compelling reasons to spend more time watching this drama yet. I may give it a rest for a few episodes and see if @LaLacontinues to like it. I am rather relieved that this is not setting itself up to a romance or a rom-com. That might really have been too much to layer on top of all of the characters that they've introduced thus far, and now have to figure out a plot point for all of them. 4 1 1

I think this is one kind of way Kyung Yi coping with her life. From the drama description in the official sites and some trailer, she seems to can think and function when there are food and alcohol involve in her systems. Her brilliant deduction and investigation have almost gone because of the death of her husband and the way people pointing out that it's because of her own fault. I'm sure we will get more explanation in the upcoming episodes and I did have my suspicions about this, however I won't share it and will let the episode reveal it first to us, just in case my suspicions is wrong. Yes, this was what I thought in the beginning when I watched the first episode. I thought the young girl was Kyung Yi because of a very similar way of thinking and personality. And the way the direction of the first episode almost made us thinking that they were the same people. However not almost when it arrived at the 1 hour mark that I started to realized that those two are different people and they are the heroine and the culprit. It's confusing but in episode 2 it has become clearer. Entering ep 3, I still like the drama and the mysterious and cases of Inspector Koo, so I'll keep watching this @stroppyse Maybe you can try to watch until ep 4 to see if it can satisfy you? Mystery and crime is usually not a genre that I'll choose, but this one is quite interesting. The actresses themselves also played a role in convincing me to try it, although I don't think I have watched the past works of the actress who played the role Kei. The execution for the directing of the drama is quite good too, adding the mysterious feel to the drama, albeit a little bit confusing at first. ----- Episode 3 thoughts and review Okay so in the beginning of episode 3 we got the story hoe Kyung Yi and Kei met when Kei was still in highschool and Kyung Yi came to investigate the death of the janitor. In here Kyung Yi admitted that what her husband thought about them looked similar. I personally think that they both looks brilliant and mysterious, however in a different way Kei was scary while Kyung Yi is unique. In the present time Kei seems to know that by mentioning the death of Kyung Yi husband might trigger something and fished out a reaction in Kyung Yi. And her provocation did bear a result that made her feel satisfied, based on her expression. Kyung Yi clearly still blame herself as one of the part that lead the death of her dear husband. We still need to be patient to see about what happened years ago that made her became like this. And I think the drama description that I roughly translate as part of the drama introduction might give away the reason behind Kei random killing. She thinks that she's punishing the baddies with her own hand to help the victims. When the society think that the culprits didn't get the punishment they deserved, then she needs to be the one who gave the judgment instead. Interestingly while having this dark thought, Kei imagination when there's this dark shadow came upon her, seems want to point us that she is consumed with her darkness and embraced it. The way she talked to her aunt that she will grant her wish for the man be punished is creepy despite her smile. I hope we will get more story about Director Yong. She appeared too short in this episode for my liking and she seemed to just play from behind the curtain so far. I want to see her to play a more active role because she is the one who proposed for team B and her to team up catching Kei. She must have her own reasons and I can't wait for it to be revealed.. 3 Currently Watching List: K-drama: The Real Has Come, See You in My 19th Life K-variety:

ktcjdrama Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 I'm caught up... This drama is rather quirky. Had to get used to its style before one can truly enjoy it. It's harder because one won't usually associate Lee Young Ae with this genre and the eccentric character she takes on here. There are scenes that sent me scratching my head, nevertheless still made me feeling very tensed while watching for what will happen next. I guess it's because they made the villain K too scary? She is made to be too smart too resourceful? Like in the preview, she could overcome her sidekick and drag him by herself? In ep.4, supposedly she herself moved a passed out JH and KS into a box, into a container, onto a lake? I thought the actress for Yi Kyung aka K is really good portraying the character's seemingly innocent yet psychotic behaviour. The way she just smiled and laughed things off. The way she enjoyed and cheered seeing her murder scheme succeeded. I'm not even sure whether to categorise her as a psychopath or not. She seems to only kill people who "deserved" to be killed... So far it is an interesting watch. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, even those who like mystery thriller. Watching this makes me feel quite uneasy tbh, but I want to know what will happen to K, how Inspector Goo can outsmart her, so I guess I will keep watching? Haha... 3 Currently watching: Queen of Tears // Midnight Studio // Lovely Runner // Hide // Snowstorm Love

In ep.4, supposedly she herself moved a passed out JH and KS into a box, into a container, onto a lake? I was wondering in the beginning of the episode when she found out about the base of the team on the basement. Like she really knew about the exact location when the only information that we were shown that she had the pictures of Kyung Yi and Santa. Maybe she used her aunt access to the insurance.. who knows what she can do.. and yes the sudden super power she had for overpowering her side kick made no sense. But maybe because she choked him with the wire and the side kick couldn't really breath and lost his strength, she could drag him around? I think the side kick helped in moving Je Hee and Kyung Soo to the container. We just didn't get the pictures. 4 hours ago, ktcjdrama said: I'm not even sure whether to categorise her as a psychopath or not. She seems to only kill people who "deserved" to be killed... Kei is scary and ruthless but she's not going on killing spree.. like in ep 3 when she experimented with the fries, when she gave some of it to the deliveryman, for seconds I thought she gave the poisoned batches. Well we didn't see what happened to the man, but I guess he's still since he only consume half of the poisonous material and didn't get the mixed from water and air? But really the way she thinks that she is allowed to deliver the judgement and punishment for those who are deemed to not get enough punishment, I think we can put her into the category as psychopath? Since we only have 12 episodes we will get a very tight and fast plot I guess. The drama still haven't touched about director Yong role in here other than just a sponsor. I wonder what made her want to catch Kei. A personal grudge or something? And why the side kick put Kei into the jail by tricking her with the drug? He's not agreeing in hurting people who aren't guilty? Like Kei want to hear investigation team because they are chasing after her, but in public eyes, they are just a normal people. Not someone who did some crime and escape from it. I guess we will see more action about Kyung Soo next week based on the preview.. It's getting interesting but like you wrote earlier @ktcjdrama this drama might be confusing and not everyone cup of tea.. What ingrained in my mind about Lee Young Ae is that she's an elegant woman because of her role in Jewel in the palace. This character is very different and sometimes I felt a little bit off watching her acting like Kyung Yi, but because I haven't watched her in many projects, I couldn't compare hahaha... Hope to see your review this weekend too :) 2 1 Currently Watching List: K-drama: The Real Has Come, See You in My 19th Life K-variety:

What he probably didn’t realize is that K did not see him as partner, but only her runner. Maybe he didn’t want to be found out, or she was getting too controlling? LaLa Posted November 14, 2021 Author Posted November 14, 2021 Finally our heroine knew the identity of Kei. After running in a circle she finally figured out her opponent and now I'm curious about how Kyung Yi will catch Kei. Honestly I did feel a little disappointed when she just let Director Yong and her people to catch Kei at the airport. Well it was under Je Hee supervision as well, but still I want to see more action. So should I be glad that Kei manage to escape? Lol About Kei childhood past, poor girl was lost for a week inside a forest all alone. The directing was too dark for me (or probably I don't put my screen in a full brightness mode) but young Kei seemed to be bewitched (?) that led her to come out the car and went into the forest. I wonder how a young girl like her could stay alive alone. And during her first consultation with the psychiatrist, she pointed outside that everything was black to her little eyes. Did she consume the darkness she found in the forest or was something else happened? Now that the identity of Kei has been known, I guess we will have another episodes where the past and future scenes are merged. SilverMoonTea Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 @LaLaI caught up all 7 episodes in two days. Since it's very fun and the story moving fast. I agree that the student in the first few episodes, I also thought she was the young Insp Koo. Probably it's intended by director, since it was later on revealed that Koo's husband thought both K and Koo have similarity. The unexpected four bonded and formed a team is the major charm of this drama. Santa is almost like Koo's caretaker and GS also always worried of JH's safety. But the last episode make me worry, it looks like the only sincere in the team only the blur GS and our inspector 😅. JH seems have gone to dark path, she's already become accomplice in KD's murder. Santa identity always quite questionable and especially on why he refused to speak normally, when he's not mute. The funny thing, seems no one in the team even questioning about it lols. I guess since their team really full with odd & quirky personalities. About Santa, the glass mug that he used have printed of 33's girl school commeration, so is he related to one of K's friend? He seems quite supportive of K trying to kill KD, and he also have that black superstitious doll. I still hoping he's still will be Insp Koo ally, since I like his character a lot. I hope the show won't do with supernatural element. I do think the one who save young K in the forest might contribute to her dark personality. And the psychiatrist that handling her apparently totally blindsided by K that she even reduced their frequency of counselling. Calling @Chocolate@abs-oluteM@mademoiselle@Tofu@SnowBloband @stroppyseback haha... P.s Lala had you mentioned there is two cute young oppas as side dishes on this woman centric investigation, I will prioritize trying this first instead of taking this long to watch 😂 4

Because of the dark shadow and when it appeared Kei seemed to be hypnotized and will get this maniac gleam in her eyes. And agreed with how brutal she threw Kyung Soo into that container. For him being able to function at all when he woke up and only end up with a bruise was really a big relief. He could die being thrown like that my goodness... If you have watched ep 7, I think we'll see soon how her aunt death will affected Kei and her method of killing.. Gosh that director Yong is even brutal. I shouldn't be that shocked finding her to be another murderer just to achieve her goal, but a little bit surprised to see Je Hee seemed to abide her wishes and did nothing to stop Go Dam's murder. I wonder what secret that she wanted Go Dam to buried with his death too.. Too bad the actor who played Go Dam only appear for a short time. I like Kim Soo Ro because of his appearance in my favorite variety show in 2008~2010 Family Outing.. But what's with that short scenes of him putting something into Kyung Yi's drink and keeping pictures of her in his own album.. We only have 5 episodes left, so how they are going to reveal that story?! Gah Upcoming episodes Kyung Yi and Kyung Soo have to work together to solve the mystery of Kei. Like you said @SilverMoonTea, among the 4 only Kyung Soo and Kyung Yi who seemed to be really pure and just put into their might to catch Kei without any other intention. 2 hours ago, SilverMoonTea said: P.s Lala had you mentioned there is two cute young oppas as side dishes on this woman centric investigation Eh I didn't tell you about Santa being a cute puppy boy side kick? I need to continue watching, as I need to prove Tofu I can finish this Yes with 12 episodes and so many unanswered questions, I wondered how they can wrap it up nicely. 1 hour ago, LaLa said: Eh I didn't tell you about Santa being a cute puppy boy side kick? I was LOLs many times with his antique. I was curious since you seldom watch or recommend crime / mistery drama, so I had to try this. Actually since you mentioned this have similar tone with Queen of Mistery which I remember @Dhakraenjoyed watching it, we might can try recommend this to him. 3 1

We will have to see if that darkness mean anything supernatural, or was it just something from small Yi Kyung's imagination and way of coping when she was lost in the forest and starting to act like as the judger of the unworthy people's life who committed terrible crime to the society.. 5 hours ago, Tofu said: @SilverMoonTea My question is, will you drop this drama once one of us ends up watching it? I have to talk about this drama more often with her. Through personal chat especially. That's how I made her finished watching Times with me few months back when she already left it and picked it up again Although back then there was her dimple oppa card that I used.. I have to be creative to hold her back for the remaining 5 episodes.. 4 hours ago, SilverMoonTea said: Actually since you mentioned this have similar tone with Queen of Mistery which I remember @Dhakraenjoyed watching it, we might can try recommend this to him. 1 hour ago, Dhakra said: Oh really? Internationally the drama is aired on Netflix. The similar feeling that I said about this drama with Queen of Mystery is because the uniqueness of the female lead in approaching or solving the mystery and dealing with the culprit. Both have this ability in imagining the possible action that the culprit did and put themselves in the crime scene. 1 4 Currently Watching List: K-drama: The Real Has Come, See You in My 19th Life K-variety:
