  1. @Chocolate agree with u on the international audience who are not familiar with kdramas. Many of my friends too are new to the kdrama scene, and still cant believe how DalMi could not end up with HJP. I had to explain it that most of the times, or even all the time, the FL ends up with the ML, never the second lead. I learned the hard way thru Dr. Stranger. Since then, I had to google who the leads are to ready both my mind and heart.

My opinion in SU is that the writers may not have expected KSH to bring so much life to HJP's character. They must have underestimated him since both NJH and Suzy are hallyu stars (they are, right? 😁). Also, the writers introduced HJP first. The first scene was him and yeong sil. The letters were written by him. He was DalMi's source of inspiration all these years. So, if not for the "lead" status, storywise, DalMi seems to end up with JiPyeong. Anyone can sense how they had to forcibly push that kissing scene Dalmi and DoSan (in the roof deck, was it?) out of nowhere. This coming from a TeamNamDoSan. Hahaha.

Nevertheless of the romance plot, I just hope that the writers give us the HJP's backstory and a reasonable and justifiable ending to his story.

Edit: and where is InJae? She had so little airtime in the later part of the drama. I was expecting to see more of her character but  naahh.

  2. Han Ji Pyeong, you'd remain the greatest 'what-if'.

The drama has really been becoming very popular all over my social media. Several of my friends are debating between TeamNamDoSan & TeamHanJiPyeong. But honestly, I hope that everyone sees beyond the romance plot. There is a brilliant and engaging technical story of starting and doing business + familial drama.

KSH is really gaining a lot of attention. As an avid 2d1n supporter, I thank all Start Up viewers who gave 2d1n a try. Kamsahamnida for helping boost this season's ratings. Hahaha

    :CharmanderYay:

Edit: Yes, am still waiting for that Han JiPyeong backstory! Writer better give it to us.

  4. I love reading all your Top 5 (or more) fave dramas of all time! It would be pretty hard to choose only five, but will try my best to do that 🤣

There are so many dramas to choose from and I have no exact genre that I love, so long as the drama is good, I go for it.

Here's mine, mostly because of sentimental reasons.  So hard to pick only 5. Hahahaha

    1. Princess Hours

-for the reason that this is my first Kdrama that I remember watching from the first ep til the finale, and all over again for countless times during my first year in kdrama land

    2. 1 Litre of Tears (series)

    - my first jdrama! I literally shed 1 litre of tears in this drama. Huhuhu. After watching this way back when I was in high school, I remembered convincing my classmates to watch as well and had a guy bestfriend who was convinced and shed also literally 1 litre of tears. We became close then (til now). Hahaha.

And oh, I tried so hard back then to memorize the OST... 🎶Konayuki..

    3. Hana Kimi (Japanese)

-the most fun and exciting drama! The only drama that all my siblings and I watched together. We shared so much laughter and enjoyed all the "nonsensical" activities of Dorms 1 2 &3 like catching the panty thief and ofcourse Nakatsu's inner struggles. 😅

    4. W Two Worlds

    - jaw-dropping first ep for me. Maybe because I did not read the synopsis before watching the drama and I was so in for the surprise of switching worlds. 2016 was full of amazing kdramas, and W was on top of my list. Story+CHEMISTRY of the leads. HoneyCouple was on fire and was the reason I had to log in to the previous forum after years of just lurking. Lol

    5. Hospital Playlist

    - so far the best 2020 kdrama for me. Story+Cast+Humor+MUSIC. I like every aspect of it.

If I could only squeeze in Age of Youth s1&2 ....

  5. Congrats Team Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol!!!

    Spoiler

What an absurd ending for me. Pretending to be dead for 5 years? Tsk. I wished they picked a better plot of Jun having cancer. It doesnt sit well with me with all the previous happy and chill episodes.

Watching ep 2 of 2D1N current season - do they really not get fed if they fail the games? So cruel! Poor Seonho looked so guilty when he lost rounds that cost the team food. Poor thing! I feel so bad for him!

Yes, the staff don't feed them if they lose. They can't eat either during break time. If they are caught, they will be punished. Hahaha. But sometimes they loosen up and give some "games" for the losers to at least have a bite. But that's it. This is so in order for them to be motivated in playing and winning the games.

@abs-oluteM SeonHo doesnt really have abs. Hahaha. Or maybe just a little. Haha. There was an episode in 2d1n where they had to take off their shirts to have some food (was it noodles, cant remmbr). Anyway, he waas even doing some last minute workouts. He was not confident at all. Ahhahaha

  7. I just wish for HJP to have found a family/people to take care of him during that 3 years time jump i.e. Halmeoni and Dalmi.

Im happy with a Brother-sister relationship with JP and DalMi. And NDS has to seek JP's approval before he dates her again. Haha

I also wish that the writers will give us a glimpse of HJP's backstory from him being an orpahn, how he ended up winning the competition to how he has become in the present.  They owe it to us. 😊

  8. Yaaay! I'm so happy that Kim Seon Ho is getting recognized.

I first watched him in the miniseries You Drive Me Crazy but didnt notice him until I googled him as one of the members of 2d1n S4.

He's a good actor. He reminds me of Jang Seung Joo and Jeon Mi Do who are kinda new in the TV industry but have been doing well in theatrical plays.

  9. Start Up is such a good drama!!!!!

Definitely on my top 5 kdramas this year. Huhu

Didnt actively post here (I think I only posted once) cause it might end up like RoY for me where I thought it was promising for the first few eps then dropped it even before halfway of the drama. excuse me for RoY fans here. 😘

Already in Ep 12 and the drama is still going strong !!!! It makes you wanna dream big but also hits you with reality. There's a balance for both. It doesnt only entertain me as a viewer but also teaches me a lot of things about starting up a business. I like most especially when they decided of the distribution of shares, I would have done the same but when HanJiPyeong told them of who must have the controlling interest that hits me. Makes me thinking, I should do that!!!hahahah

And speaking of Han JiPyeong, am so happy for Kim SeonHo! Am a big fan of 2d1n and to be honest I was hesitant to watch this drama  because I thought cant unsee him from being the clueless and not so smart character from 2d1n to this genius inventor/CEO in Start Up. Haha. Am I the only one who cracked up during tonight's episode when he said to DalMi's grandma "Im pretending to be smart but I'm not." ????hahaha. I was crying before that then I just cracked up. It reminds me of him in real life. Haha. Seriously though, am happy that a lot of people have noticed him. He is such a good actor. His very detailed expressions give more life to HanJiPyeong.

Yet, I am TeamNamDoSan! Lol. But am afraid to vote in the poll cause I dont want to have his cousin's face in PP in case I lose. Suzy, I think, is perfectly casted on this role. I like the vibe she is giving off as Dal Mi. I just think that In Jae has been given fewer scenes than I expected her to have. But there has not been much of filler scenes for me so I think that it's still reasonable. Saha and Chulsan are too adorable. Sometimes Saha and NamDoSan shows off great chemistry. Sometimes I wish they would have been the one paired. Lol.

I think the drama is rich of substories the writers can explore and it's up to them which ones to take.

That's it for now, cause it's time to sleep for me!

    Start Up fighting!

    P.s.

Lastly when DoSan mentioned about "reset" (re his relationship with Dal Mi), it actually reminded of AhnHyoSeop's (who looks like NJH) line in Dr. Kim Season2. "Reset" which he taught to LeeSunKyung's character, who happens to be NJH's exgirlfriend. Okay bye. Im not making sense anymore. Hahaha. Gdnight!

  11. Yeeeeeyyyyy!!! Just finished the drama! I love how they wrapped up the story and the OST resonating in the last scenes, huhuhu. I will miss this absolutely great drama!

I like how I expected Daeyong's negative involvement in the car accident turned out to be wrong. Also the supposedly "video scandal" of Da Jung. Kudos to the writer who just gave us beautiful & heart-warming scenes in the last two episodes.

I just wished that they also got a shot of the "younger version" of the couple walking down the aisle. But other than that, I am fully satisfied with how the the last episode went. Best finale they could have for the drama.

    Thanks, 18 Again!

  12. I just finished watching HSL like 15 minutes ago. Didnt know there was a review thread for the drama, stumbled across here while searching for the podcasts. Am not a good writer but will share how I feel about the drama since the feeling's still fresh & clear. Hahaha

Hot Stove League is a drama I put on hold. I have read great reviews while the show was airing but I had to shove it in my waiting list cause there were many great dramas to watch at that time. After winning Baeksang Best TV Drama, I convinced myself to watch it but got busy. Then just out of nowhere earlier this week while scrolling Netflix, I saw the thumbnail & decided to give it a go.  And boy, am I late to the party!

The drama is indeed amazing and fully deserves the Baeksang. I am a sucker of dramas whose storyline involve teamwork & group dynamics of the cast. HSL is very rewarding. I am a sports fan btw and I have never been interested in the management affairs of any sports club. I tend to focus only on the players, coaches and the game itself. But this drama conveys the story of what happens behind the scenes and made me appreciate the hard work everyone puts on the line for the team. Well the drama can be overexaggerating at times but it gives me a new perspective.

The main cast did really deliver. NGM always do. I also admire the operations manager actress. I have watched her act in Age of Youth 1&2 and I must say she is a a versatile actress. The supporting casts also were superb. I like how there was no forced loveline. The bickering between the OM and her assistant  or the care the OM has for General Manager were enough.

You guys mentioned about Mad Dog, Bad Guys & Sqaud 38. I love those dramas too esp TaskForce38.

The end. Haha. Back to searching for the podcast (DDSSLS.hihi)

@stroppyse actually talked about it in our small podcast on DDSSLLS, if you haven't heard it yet! But here's what she told me when I first asked about it:

It's because in Korean, there is no separate R and L. They're interchangeable. There is one consonant that is halfway between an R and an L that is used. Depending on who is writing the romanization, they may spell it La La or Ra Ra, and it sounds the same in Korean.

I haven't had time to watch today's episode (only saw the first 20 minutes) but I'm glad to see that it's a good episode. :duckhearts:

Oh. Thanks! Will check on the podcast later! It would be exciting to hear ur voices 😊
