@abs-oluteM did you know that SJK too has or probably had a crush on Shin Min Ah??? Park Bo Young spilled it during promotional event of A Werewolf Boy.

Now coming to the episode , Our Du-Sik got it bad... I am liking how they are growing gradually....just wondering why is he in front of Urology Clinic??? What's his connection.... Maybe a teensy bit I am expecting him to turn out a  chaebol who left everything behind for quite life in Countryside ???

There is so much convenient plot in this story but I don’t care KSH and SMA are killing it :wow:

@abs-oluteM Same here I will try to stay away from too much of their off-screen interviews and stuff because I’m going into dangerous territory 😂 I’ll just ship their characters in the drama~

Besides the epilogue part, I loved the scene in the car where Hyejin was driving them both back to Gongjin and they were going back and forth with the comparisons between what’s great in Seoul vs Gongjin. Such opposites in what they like, but they say opposites attract, so... :hearties:

Their smiles, really!! :pandalove:

When I saw that urology sign, it reminded me of that drama with the title “You Raise Me Up” 😂. But there was another specialty on that nameplate though - Psychiatrist. And when Hye Jin asked him why he didn’t keep the hedgehog, he said he didn’t keep “live things”...

I too think that he is highly likely to have been successful before his return to the village 5 years ago. Maybe someone in Hye Jin’s group of friends will recognise him from the photo.

So Dusik didn’t keep the other shoe from ep1. He fished it up during ep3 😂 and secretly placed it in Hye Jin’s shoe cabinet. She was so happy and the whole house lit up when she wore it. It’s so corny and just short of a Alice in Wonderland skip and tap 😂

Will let the rest rave about the rest of the episode haha.

Honestly, what struck me most about episode 3 is when HJ says that Gam Ri-shi was selfish for suffering in pain just to save some money, that the best thing that parents could do for their children was to be healthy and by their children's sides for a long, long time rather than trying to leave a little extra money to their kids after their death.

I suppose I feel that way as well, that people should try to be healthy and that way, stay with their loved ones for as long and as healthily as possible. I know that we all have to go sooner or later, but suffering in unnecessary pain seems so pointless and counterproductive. I'm glad the grandmother decided to get her teeth implants.

The rest of the episode was cute. DS and HJ are slowly developing an interest in each other, but more importantly seem to be affecting each other and even causing some small changes in the way they think and view things. That's a lovely romance.

The dental assistant and the police officer made me totally laugh though, especially when she's able to understand what he's saying with his mouth wide open. He was clearly amazed by that, but I think experienced dental assistants learn to be able to understand what their patients say even with their mouths open or full of gauze or whatever. The dental assistant's assertion that the policeman was cute, looked great in uniform, and was 4 years younger than her, and that was enough for her to be interested just made me giggle a bit.

Cute how DS rescues HJ's other shoe and then figures out how to dry it off so that it's wearable. Not sure I totally believe it since water damage to shoes is really hard to repair, but it's a drama, and I'm happy to accept all sorts of coincidences. Anyway, DS and HJ's interactions are always fun.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that DS went to Seoul to become successful but then gave it up for some secret reason, or possibly is actually the son of a chaebol. The latter would give it even more DDSSLLS vibes.

Part of me kind of wishes that DS is exactly as he presents himself to be, but this is a k-drama and there has to be some more secrets to be revealed.

Shin Min Ah is really very pretty. I've thought so ever since "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" when she made her ridiculous character so appealing, attractive, and sympathetic.

I can definitely imagine that anyone who partnered with her would find her very attractive.

As @Chocolate mentioned there were other clinics. Looks like the entire building are specialist clinics for various types of docs. Is he ill? Someone said maybe he was in the medical field before. Or perhaps like @movingwheel said he could be chaebol, and that whole building is his?  Who knows ...it is a kdrama after all. Everything is possible. But I hope that he is just a normal person ...it'd be nice if the the ML isn't a chaebol/ CEO/ celebrity for once.

Same here. I love the scene of her and the grandma. It was sweet that HJ went to see the old lady and convinced her to do the implants.

I agreed with her that DS was somewhat out of line when he took a ride with the 3 old ladies in her car, though I know he had good reason and did explain himself. (Them eating in her new car and dropping food all over ....gosh....ahahah OCD me could not take it.)Anyhow , I have to say that what I really like about the episode is that it does feel like it has settled down - as in the interactions between them feels less tropey . I get the convenience of having DS as the handyman & jack of all trades. Since they aren't using the cohabitation trope , it provides a lot of opportunities for them to meet or for him to go over since he is pretty much the guy who does everything here.

Think the writer is trying to go for role reversal here . Usually in many Asian rom-coms, the guy is the more tsundere character or plays the typical jerk with the heart of gold. Here Hye Jin is somewhat taking on that prickly city girl but with a warm heart. So far I think we have seen a lot more of her perspective & her growth. And I look forward to seeing DS's side of the story.

@JenLI agree with you, she can worded her thought nicer, so people wouldn't get hurt. But sometimes hurtful word does the job more efficient, for people to realized where they got stuck. I guess she really need someone like Mr. Hong to balance her out.

@abs-oluteMAll dramas must have the tropey that the ML have psychological trauma 😅. His word quite striking to me, that he doesn't want to keep anything alive with him. He can do everything, but not keeping a 🦔. I think it's the only time he reject request.

Yes, they're bonding over being fan girls of the guy in the picture, who had been a patient of HJ's. Ju Ri keeps calling him "Jun-ie Oppa" and asking questions about him to which HJ answers some of them, since others require patient confidentiality.

From the published cast list, he's probably "Jun, main rapper of idol group DOS" who we haven't seen yet since we also haven't seen the second lead Lee Sang Yi yet who is a PD and works with DOS.

They had a nationwide average ratings ot 8.7% ( the peak rating did surpass 10%). Some fans are optimistic it may go double digit. But I think it will be fantastic to maintain it at this rate since most rom-coms these days barely go past 5% .

Oooo thanks @stroppyse. I wonder now when Lee Sang Yi will appear- I bet just as he (DS)  has fallen very deep for her.

I just love ep 3 even better. The ending was really sweet. I don't know how could that expensive shoe still in its perfect condition after several days in sea water and no severe scratch on it. Well, looking fine. If this is really a branded one, then they really make a good cf for it. I just love it when he gave it back to her. Aww.. their coincidences are quite many but I just like them. Actually the story moves pretty slow but good thing I spend almost more than an hour with joy thanks to this.

One thing that make me uneasy, they seems to hint a melodrama twist in our chief's life. Don't tell me he is terminally ill and it's why his last lover left him and he stays in the hometown since then. Like he mentioned to HJ that he feel sick living in the city and hometown is much peaceful and wonderful. Hmm... I hope I am wrong.

Yep, I think this paints a good picture of DS - he's not someone who is chained to the material or commercial objects. He's riding a bike rather than a care, isn't dressed fashionably and only buy things to help other (stuff to fix things for the village). He seems to value his freedom and time a lot more, so the freelance/ jack of all trades lifestyle seems to work more for him. :heiboi:

I do believe that most of Hye-Jin's words and actions during the party were more of her being frank rather than being rude. People do have things they like and dislike, the town folk just misunderstood her reactions.  Her friend/assistant did know that those are things Hye-Jin didn't like so it's more of her personal quirks rather than being someone new from the city.

I think there's sort of a cultural difference between what is polite and not between village people and city folk, young people and old people. Eg. HJ accepting the food but not eating the food from the grandma would be considered a polite way of rejecting something in the city. But in the village with elderly folk, it was still considered a slight. My take on it was at first, she was not aware of these differences when she arrived and kept trampling the line, but now in episode 3, being more settled in, she's getting better at knowing what is more acceptable to say and do. Also she's no longer a stranger, so there's less of an us v them mentality with the villagers too :heiboi:

One thing I notice about Hye Jin is that she is rather anti-social, especially with the elderlies it seems. From ep.1 when she met the next door neighbour in the lift, she was clearly uncomfortable and politely refusing to engage further.

I think it's a mixture of things - her personality maybe, but also young city folk tend to keep to themselves more than older villager folk. So geography, lifestyle, age group and probably level of familiarity...I feel shy around new people sometimes, but then chatty when I know people :MewHi:

It's still early days to be sure but I am not as impressed as I hoped to be. All I can say in all honesty is that I'm watching this for the leads (especially Kim Seon-ho) who are doing a fine job of transcending a fairly ordinary script. The limitations of the script are particularly glaring as it comes hot on the heels of the wonderful Racket Boys which covers similar sorts of territory with more panache and far less awkwardness. What Racket Boys did well was to subvert our expectations of the locals and create a more congenial atmosphere from the first.

I think having watch episode 3 now, I'm more charmed than I was with the first 2 episodes. Like you, I love the feel of a warm and communal town more than anything. Racket Boys was one of the nicest series I've seen this year :BulbaOWO:

But to be fair to this series, I think it did show a more realistic feeling often when one first moves somewhere completely different than my favourite dramas with the lovely villages...you have all these hopes and dreams that it'll be more fun and you'll like your neighbours, but often there's a huge teething period where you're not use to things and you may think you regret your decisions :idk:While I don't generally like to see cringe-worthy, awkward or prickly scenes, I also felt this drama gave a good reality check for what it's like to make a big move and to have sub-cultural and generational differences.... I actually think the villagers were more prickly when I tried to watch the first episode of Camelia. I think the characters will warm up eventually as shown in episode 3

I feel for Hye Jin. Although I understand from the villagers' perspective but I also understand Hye Jin's pet peeves. I feel exactly out of place too when I visited our distant relatives. It is just very different in the village/foreign country. It's not easy getting used to their ways so it is normal to encounter some friction. Soon I'm sure Hye Jin will adapt, and vice versa. I love that Doo Shik looks out for her but also makes sure he lets her know the problems. He doesn't sugar coat or spoil her just because he likes her.

Totally agree - I think she's a well rounded character in that she has some good points and some bad points and is relatable. And part of that is because we've all been in her shoes before when we didn't fit in somewhere. And yeah, elderly uncles or aunties can be nosy also - like asking about your personal life or commenting on your looks etc even though they mean well. :pandascared:
